after some serious negoitiation (3 or 4 txts), I have secured ownership of the rare jem pictured below, for free........:woohoo:, its the coolest ratbike I have ever seen, its reg and wof, it runs, and IT WAS FREE.......:woohoo:, all I have to do is sort out the starter clutch and the suspect wiring (keeps draining battery) and find a way to Riwaka to pick it up....:niceone:.... maybe a good candidate for a sidecar or something wild.

Mrs LB is not amused "more old junk" mutter mutter mutter

Sweet score! Great project bike.. A handfull more than a few man hours, and you could get it looking nice! Wish I had the room/workshop for free bikes. My social life would go out the window :whocares:

How is it mechanically? Seems like a bit of oil leakage on the ol' engine there...

There's 1 or 2 of those old girls still floating around  bloody good score being a freebie :Punk:

basically all running parts are comparable to a GT750 Kawasaki

I think its like a step up from an LTD, the motor sounds sweet, it idles fine, and revs out fairly smoothly, but it is fairly slow so theres something not right there it has leaky headers, it pisses oil out, and the starter clutch is rooted so I'll have to fix that, but the air suspension still works and it rides ok, and the shaft drive (same as a gt750) seems strong enough so I might just strip it down and see if I can make it faster, it should be good for 120mph if I can get it to lose some weight

Great !! a PW50 !!!
Good stuff, you should be able to track down an original front end without too much fuss.
Does it run?

Holy hell, I used to ride one of those when I was 7. And even then it was considered old.

yep it runs fine, Im gonna stick with the front end thats on there, its a 14" off a qt50, with some modification, a knobbly tyre, and a pw80 front guard it will be fine

I have a 1987 GT750 in the garage. Great bike. It took ScorpyGirl and I all round the South Island prior to me getting the 'Wing.

Starter clucthes are a well known problem on the GPZ/GT570 series :( Never had any problems with the shaft drive, but the rear air supsension is suffering a lack of damping at the moment.

Great score! Love to have a 750 shaft drive. The fact it's a Kawasaki is even better ;)

scrounging, I'm poor so its the only way I can get my hands on a new bike,
all you do is ask anyone you think might know, its amazing what turns up,

junk gets parted out, but gems like this will be kept for a while, untill I can trade up with it

eventually, poeple will start making steptoe jokes, but with the treasure you turn up its worth it, I have at least 5 more to come, one is supposed to be a GPX250-free, so I can't wait to see what thats like) but I can only do one at a time, let alone store 'em.

I had to drain the engine oil from the 2 stroke resovior, and strip off the broken bits, then I rode it until the front tyre went flat and the chain fell off.

I'm pretty sure this was a rabbit board bike, the ignition components were missing and the seat, so I did a cdi conversion on it and put a cb 125 seat on that fits ok., no smoke, and she'll sit up on the back wheel from a standing start in second.
just the thing to chase the boy around on his birthday present, a ds80 :)

it feels good to have a honda trailly around the place again

oh, and I found this too

a gt125
