I haven't been down SH22 in ages, last time was last year and a lot of the end of SH22 was covered in gravel from roadworks.
So on sunday I'm going to go and check it out.
Anyone interested in joining me is welcome.
Departing AutoBahn/BP papakura at 10am. :ride:

Some of the (previously) best bits are covered with new seal. Be aware on those surfaces there may be loose chips especially along the centerline.

tis nearly good again just a bit of loose chip in a couple of spots but not really enough to slow you down too much

When i said loose seal, some smartarse came up with an aquatic mammal picture.
When i said loose chips, it's watties ketchup.
If i were to say loose metal, i wonder if there would be headbanging music fans turning up for the ride?
The use of such materials for roading should be banned for this reason.

I am in for the ride. Better put that clutch back together quick. Couldn't get the clutch housing out. By the way I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had clutch chattering problems. Its not worn out plates, because the plates on the R1 look fine.

On cages, at least, you sometimes get clutch chattering if the springs in the pressure plates are a little tired. If one or more has lost some of its springiness (there must be a word for this), you get uneven pressure applied across the plates leading to chatter.
Of course, as the most maintenance I do on my bike is oiling the chain, I could just be talking out me arse. As usual.

You could call it pea gravel, but then someone would offer to bring along carrots.

Yeah, I'm not going to be going that quick and I don't mind stopping and waiting at turn offs etc. Just take it easy, there's some interesting corners.

Heh heh - I remeber the last SH22 trip...I also remember scraping asphalt, stones and what seemed like concrete of of my gearbox for the next few days.
Would love to join you but I am between bikes at the moment and will be collecting the Ducati tomorrow from Hamihole tomorrow morning.
If you see a Duc an a trailer at the back of a silver RVR - wave, s'me.
Have a good one.

Forecast is "morning showers clearing", so hopefully it'll be good.
I'll post at 9am to confirm whether the ride will go ahead or not.

The ride is on.
The weather looks ok here, overcast but clearing. The weather report for SH22 courtesy of Firefight is similar: currently overcast but looking like it'll improve.
So anyone that shows up, I'll see you there. :ride:

Cheers for the company, BigB.
The roads were good, not too much gravel. The weather was good from papakura onwards (I got rained on on the way to papakura though).
:)
