There ya go.

I got a serious reaming for posting pics of the Rocket III before it came out. The cookie jar has rules.

how do you Know Dave dosent have a contract with Honda?

That shot was taken with a Canon 1D using a 600mm focal length. $13K ?
If you save the file and do a 'get info' - the camera XMP data is displayed.

I am but a humble Art Director (OK, not so humble) - but way beyond my budget.

That is a great picture.

I will definitely buy the magazine with the article in... and Im not an habitual purchaser of the mag.

Great picture.

Now if only KR mag would sort out its printing. All NZ bike magazine has the problem of pale colours when they come up to print.

Can't you guys print like PB or Fastbikes? I'd buy if the mags if you do....

The answer is in the economies of scale.
Unlike the corporates Vege don't own the presses.

We strive ever to improve - and have done so.
I'm working on a new lay to take it further forward now.

I hear a challenge. Just a couple of bling bits to go and I will take some pics of my gsxr.

I am not willing however to take the reliability challenge just yet

Im gonna have to disagree with you on that point.....this is my baby but without the tinted blade and tinted indicatiors I got for her, I dont dislike hondas but the new shape is rude imo, 2005 shape way better.

thats a way cool pic Marmoot... yeah, its pretty nice..... for a honda, but the 80's GSXR's r cooler. and i sooo definitely agree that PB is a great mag.

To get rid of the photoshop edge blur on the bikes and bleeding into the background -

Draw a path and clear cut the bikes and paste them in a new layer.

Then clone stamp the surrounds into the white space where the bike is cut out from - ie fill the space with the backgound.

Then apply blur filter to background layer.

Then drop the clear cut bikes back down to that layer.

If you do it right at screen res it takes a pro to tell that it wasn't focal length.

Funny those 2 bikes look very familiar...

I like the 05/06 shape better than 07 as well. But damn that 07 bike is light.

The picture from KR is coooll.. might need to be printed on a nice heavy glossy A3 paper to appreciate the details.

Thank's for the pro tip

(my pic above was made in a mere 3 minute job with a polygonal selection instead of a carefully masked extraction :p)

Slacker.

I also have a method of emulating DOF that works quite nicely. Graduated blur over distance. :p

Can you follow this.

Do a gradient with transparent as one value in a new layer. Make it a selection and apply a blur to the source layer below. It works in a selected area - this is exagertated for demo.

Good effect, Dave, and thanks for sharing. However - what was the gradiant for? The pics don't show the layers box, so it's a little difficult to tell.

Yeah sorry - I have dual monitors the other pallets are on that.

the gradient to transparent 'feathers' the filter IYKWIM?

You do it in a new layer so the selection can be so feathered.
Then drop down to the background layer to apply the filter and it gives you the gradient effect on the filter - like dof.

Brilliant! Never thought it was that easy.

I suppose i can actually simulate heatwave (like the pic with R1 on the track above) with similar method. Will try this tomorrow when im fresher.

Cheers - I sussed that one myself.

I picked that shot because it was quick and easy - but it works in irregular shapes as well. Draw a path around the area receeding and the gradient can be angled too.

It is only emulation too - nothing beats the real thing:

Nice photo. The first picture on the thread I mean, but there are other good photos here too. Dead keen on the 07 CBR600RR, will get one myself one day. Not too keen on the frontal of the new R1, looks a bit goggley eyed for me.

Always been interested in photography but never gotten around to learning to edit them properly. Would be good to do one day, though I know myself too well to say I'll actually get around to doing it!

Couple of my recent photos (unedited):
1. From the top of the Eiffel Tower. I held the camera out at arms' length through the cage...
2. From the bottom. Camera not on tripod, on candle lit mode. Didn't quite keep the camera still enough - close though.
3. Fat Tony's GSXR750, in Yorkshire.

Cheers dude :) That was taken Easter weekend.

Definitely mate. Go for a ride to a nice setting, get Mrs KD to tag along, and get some good photos taken of the two of you and your bikes. And the scenery of course ;)
