Has anyone got a copy of a manual which shows how all the cvt and drivetrain bits go together on a scooter? I've just replaced the drive belt on my street magic, but since then the engine will rev but it seems nothing's transmitted to the rear wheel. The variator looks like its working properly and if you rev it with the side off it moves out. The belt spins fine etc, but it seems like there must be a clutch that engages the rear wheel and it's not doing its thing. Anyone got any ideas?

On the side near the wheel. You will first have the large metal clutch cover (it turns with the back wheel). If you remove that there should be the brake shoes (this is turned by the drivetrain). This is what engages the back wheel.

If nothing is transmitted to the rear wheel then you are missing something like the brake shoes.

http://www.chinesescooterclub.co.uk/ has lots of manuals in pdf format. They are for chinese bikes, but it doesn't matter, there are no critical tolerances in the CVT, reading the wrong manual won't matter. Only caution is when you undo the nut that holds the front transmission onto the crank, there is a special tool required to stop the crank turning. You can actually bend cranks or con rods if you do it wrong. I have found good quality air tools are a must to rattle the nut off without locking the crank.

Cheers for that. Those manuals should do the trick.

I gave the variator faces a bit of a squirt with brake cleaner and let them dry out before putting the new belt on so I'm thinking maybe it's managed to get somewhere it shouldn't and messed things up.

Gotta track down a rattle gun to get that bolt at the rear undone.
