This link was posted (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Riding-the-Dragon-Part-Two) on the RF900 Mailing list.

It's of a couple of Honda Goldwings on a twisty road in the States.

Check out the pace of this riding, and listen to the sound of the pegs on the ground in every corner.

Wicked stuff.

Looks very impressive. On one of the US forums I frequent there is a few mentions of an elderly rider (in his 70's) who blows a lot of sportbike riders away at the Dragon on his Goldwing, passing them on the outside!! Puts a lot of guys to shame. From the little bit of the vid I watched then these guys are very smooth.

Wow not bad. That road looks awesome, as in all the other vids I've seen of it.

There must be few cops on it, 'cos everyone seems to go fairly hard. Imagine doing a runner in the US? Those overkill bastards would probably have the Navy Seals snipers blow your tyres out if you tried it on.

Sheesh, if ya dropped one of those things it take out half the forest :whocares:

What a fantastic stretch of highway! Where abouts exactly is "The Dragon"?

Parts of it remind me of the road from Kawerau to Lake Rotoma.

Those 1.8 litre boxer sixes make a sweet noise when they're getting fed a bit of curry.

That ain't the pegs scraping...it's the luggage!

that's pretty mental..
sounds more like the pipes scraping to me..
Gotta give the tyres credit - they must be melting under all that strain!

That is sooo cool, pretty risky business, you could pivot out on a peg or something, and lowside it bigtime.

Hats off to those lads.

Yep! That's impressive, they'd give me a lesson on my F alright! Wonder how long their rear tyres/ tank of gas/ pegs, etc. last? Who cares when your havin that much fun! and I guess if you can afford a 'wing, you can afford to use it...

The Tail of the Dragon. I love the sound of Goldwing pipes dragging on the road. A great lesson in throttle control. Andrew Templeton would be proud of these guys!

Now that is awesome !!!!
And the 1800-6 sounds great too (apart from the chrome getting ground away ;) )

Actually, what gets me is why does he either pop the clutch or downchange out of the corner ? Just a little weird cause they ain't a 250 two-stroke.

And i Still really, really want a one make goldwing race series....

Ouch yeah that don't sound good.

I took a right turn on around a round about today and it was such a sharp turn I ended up scrapping the right foot peg against the ground. Man that gave me a fright.

I would never have known that vid existed unless Waylander "reposted" it. :gob: Freak'n awesome - if I could ride a goldwing like that one day, I'd be stoked. Those riders are mad  But my sort of mad! :woohoo:

And I wondered if it was Deal's Gap or the Dragon. Thanks for the confirm. I will ride that road one day. Oh yes, I will (strikes Wayne's World far away look  )

After all the shit I give Harley's, I don't think they'd let me even sit on one... plus that's the wrong side of the road, I mean, the right side of the road... I've never been to a country that you ride on the right side of the road... South Africa and New Zealand are both Left-Side driving...

Could just be that your such an idiot you were riding on the wrong side of the road, and the bike that went past had to move into the other lane to miss you..??

Don't knock it til you try it..

That's funny cos I thought that the noise was from the bike that was doing the filming. Watch again and the scrapping sounds seem to happen when the camera is in the corner, not the goldwing.

That was my impression too. If you listen carefully you can tell from the timing that the sound comes from the following bike.
Awesome riding, awesome road.

Nice how that driver stopped to rubber-neck then drove on leaving a downed biker to it. No doubt you're proud of him because the biker rode a harley.

Who said I was proud of him? All I'm saying is that not all bikers know how to ride properly, but looking at the makeup of a bike, sportbike vs goldwing vs cruiser, which one is gonna get round those corners better?

I'm not mocking Harley's here... I'm sure they're perfectly fine

Bike doesn't matter a much as you seem to think.

Yea a asportsbike may corner better due to shape, suspension ect, ect... but that acounts for nothing if the rider has no skill.
