Found this in the newspaper today;
“May 24 (Reuters) - Lightning struck a school in southwest Hamilton killing seven children and injuring 40 pupils and teachers. The accident happened during a rain storm.
All the injured, including two teachers, were taken to hospital where five were in serious condition,”
Actually you should exchange Hamilton for BEIJING China. But It still happened, they were someone’s children.
This event only made it into a couple of NZ papers, an artical about 3 inches by 2 inches in size. While all the mainstream papers had a huge picture of the foreign minister of Australia visiting George Bush !!!!!
I can’t believe our media is that sick it rates the death of all those children as uninteresting to the general public, thinking we’d be more interested in Australian USA boring shyte.
The rest of the small article was even worse; telling about five other children who were found dead beneath a mango tree in Cameroon following a lightning strike. They were killed by a lightning bolt while gathering firewood in a forest in north-eastern Cameroon.
The children, aged between 10 and 12 years old, went to forage for fuel in the outskirts of Ngaoundere, the capital of Adamawa province, during a storm on Sunday. They were found the next day in the morning by a shepherd.
How horrid – can you imagine the pain of the families in that village.
I wonder who owns our media now days, and why they are so keen to promote America over and above real news?

You don't think there maybe a Hamilton in SW England, South Africa, Canada ! It doesn't say Hamilton NZ.
And its not raining
the point is; would you've looked at it if I put China? The post was to provoke us to think about how we react to head lines, and why news papers do what they do - Children dying in China don't sell news papers.
Sorry if I upset you.

did you stop and think what others might think and you don't need rain to make lighting
Put yourself in a perents place that they are out of town and someone is looking after their children and they jumped on KB to read this i have no problem in thought provoking headlines but not at the expense of worrying others like this and you can see i'm not the only one that thinks this

Stay real man - I've taken hamilton out of the Title as I'm not out to upset anyone - just provoke thought.

Too be honest, it probably didn't make any bigger headline in China.

To be honest between the never ending articles on boy racers and reading about another slice of New Zealand being given back to those that were apparently here before time began so therefore validating there right to it ive not had the time to shed a tear over that lot...................
