You don't need to refer to me as your learner friend anymore!

And I can't ride at open road speeds yet as well you know:(

 will see if I can make it.

300+km in 3-4hours with breaks for learners? Awaiting the binning threads. For what I would call a learners ride would work on an average of 80k/hr. 300k in the 4 hours would seem reasonable but by the time you take in chat stops you would be better working on 5 hours.

And a side trip to Dargaville all included! :innocent: If it's all on the SH, I guess it could be doable! :pinch:

Well he did say you'd have to be comfortable at riding at open road speeds, which clearly isn't 80kmph, you can ride at 100-110 and still be a learner.

Shit, I doubt I'll ever stop being a learner.

if you ride at 100-110km and go round 35k/55k corners at 50/70 and dont speed through towns you will average about 80-85km hour without stopping.

Now what was it you said? Oh yes, "Shut up and I hate you!" :angry2: Taunting us that have to face the mindless hordes we call students! Just kicked out most of my class to lunch ... but wouldn't you know it, I got learners who want to keep finishing off their work

Ah well, least I can write them a good report! :innocent:

It's a short day for me today, the weather is just too good for it, perhaps an "after school" ride is in order? From what I see there's still no clouds and barely any wind.

Anyone keen? Just a quick blat, maybe the infamous Goat Track?

I look after my mates wee fella and she's still working on the Monday, so I've got three wee men on Monday. Hopefully your Mrs wants to come over for a visit to make Monday a cool day instead of 'I wanna be on my bike WAAA day'.

Have a good ride, McJim will attend, he earned his Brownie points thrashing himself with gardening and DIY this past weekend.

Enjoy the ride for me, sniff sniff....

You may want to change the meet time to 1000 say, half hour for peeps to arrive, shoot the shit, explain the ride, and so on, then leave 1030 on the dot.

Any lovely girlies wanting to pillion, I can make my pillion seat available... if the weather is nice, its a nice way to join in :sunny:

Gremlin
31st May 2007, 00:31
I'll see, most likely at this stage (better get a front fitted tho, sunday left the sides of my front looking like a slick)... and if a pillion says yes, then I can't let them down...

If you have a pillion, you should never go like you are one up, it changes load on front and rear, handling, etc, and its not nice at all to scare someone, just to look cool. It depends on experience of pillion, what they want etc. A mate I know, stands up on the back, doesn't use his hands, etc, all in all, extremely relaxed, except for the one time he laid into me, when he knew what was coming :devil2:

A quickish cruise is actually very enjoyable :scooter:

It's the South Eastern Highway turnoff, follow signs/lanes for Pakuranga (not Onehunga).

The South Eastern will take you up on a ramp over Sylvia Park, down to a junction crossing Carbine Rd, straight on and over the bridge.

You'll need to get in the right lane to turn right onto Ti Rakau and follow all the way to the end (long road) where it crosses Chapel Road.

You'll pass the Botany Town Centre where you'll see Countdown on one corner, Pak N Save, McD's and Kmart. The BP is just around the corner hidden by the Kmart block of shops, just turn left there and all hey presto you're there.

Will turn up tomorrow to say hi, but have limited Babysitting hours so will bugger off early in the ride to take the kids out for a jaunt to see Steam Trains.

no problems, not a bad route, just too damp. With a shot front tyre, and a dying rear, damp roads, every time I tried to open her up, I was sliding around. I found traffic very good actually... its been far worse than that. I could climb whole hills with only 1 or 2 cars needing to be passed...

Spoken like a typical "big-boike" rider.

You only need a 100 m gap to squirt through traffic (and lets face it, on those roads that's often about as long as the straights get) while us 2-fiddies need a 100 m just to build up enough speed to contemplate passing cages.:brick: Doesn't help when cages slow to 35 km/h on corners and then speed up on the straighter sections either. :argh:

He once went out riding wearing the wrong leather suit :o

You wouldn't have noticed that though - you're always in front of him...aren't you?

I could mate, but then I'd have to deal with the crying and excuses whenever we stopped somewhere.

"I'm only behind because I stopped to rescue a mouse from a cat" or some such crap...

don't mind Karma, he's just a little miffed that he didn't look like rossi when he put his leathers on (well, a few rossi's rolled into one)

That could be part of the problem too... he reckons he's much faster... yet always says he leaves last, so thats why he didn't stay near me... you would think he would learn, after delivering the excuse a few hundred times eh?
