Coming home tonight from Huntly to Hamilton, just leaving the 70 km zone, out of Ngaruawahia, by the golf course. Road wet and dark (19.20), accelerated from 75 kph towards 100 and got wheel spin in top gear. Eased off, then acellerated again and all of a sudden, doing 90-100, got an awful shimmy with the bike wobbling like buggery. Slowed down to 80 for the the remaining 10 minutes.
Very scary! Checked my tyre when I got home (Meltzler Z6 in good condition). Don't know if I hit a patch of oil or what, but to get a loss of traction while going in a straight line is unusual but scary!

I had a similar experience passing a truck out National Park way...it was wet, pulled out wound on the gas and the back tyre just lit up. Was an interesting moment to be sure. Would have been the combo of shiny tar-surface and the wet. Didn't accel all that hard either.

:Punk: :Punk: :Punk: but didnt it make you feel alive mate.........nothing like it eh.....my old TLS has a slipper clutch...:gob: of sorts...get carried away in the tight twistys and its slippery alright....get it mingin up to 3rd then bang it back into second for a tight one and counter steer round it like a motorcross bike locked up.........

Rode back to Ngaruawahia and checked ot the surface by the golf club. Some serious shiny, tar bits on the cage wheel-lines. Reckon that's where I lost it.
Big singles have lots of torque but i'm still surprised at how slippery it was on our main road, SH1, when I wasn't doing anything daft!

It's surprisingly common, even if you don't wind on the power. I had one on a back road near Matamata in January and it was so violent that one foot came off the peg and when the bike swung back , the end of the peg hit me in the calf and caused internal bleeding! I was merely a passenger to these antics and thought I was a goner, but she straightened herself out eventually.
