400,000 pooonds and a year to design the logo for the London Olympics.

Riffer could have done this in 10min* for $150.

Words... fail... me.... ngh.

At least none of you guys paid tax towards the abomination. I've seen better things designed in crayon by the certifiably insane, and at least they can claim the excuse that they were on mind bending psychotropic drugs at the time.
Ah. I do believe I may have hit on something. Perhaps they spent the advance down Charing Cross Road on a huge bag of crack?

Is it broken?

LOL.

Are you suggesting I'm some kind of cheap design whore? :dodge:

Seriously though, is the $1M for research, concept and design?

Or are we talking the equivalent of the Te Papa Tongarewa fiasco, where it was reported that the design of the thumbprint logo was $250,000, when the actual cost actually included full implementation of the entire brand identity, stationery, signage, etc?

Thanks for the ups though Dave.

At first glance I thought it was hideous but now I don't think its too bad. Especially when you compare it to some of the past logos.

Well that just confirms it's in bad taste.... :innocent:

Seriously - not my cuppa tea old chap but it IS getting attention and has attracted at least a mils worth of media time

Yeah, but NOTHING's your cup of tea Paul.

You're the only bloke I know that can repeatedly walk through a bike shop and walk out saying "Nope, nothing in there I like"

Tell you what is a mildly confusing - I didn't write the 'lisa simpson connotataions' bit, above my name - and I have no idea what it means (figuratively).
Merged thread.

edit - OK I get it - I had seb coe in front of the picture

What the hell are you complaining about? You're in media -- this could be you getting £400,000 for dragging some vector shapes around!

But a London 2012 spokesman told BBC Sport: "The emblem is flexible and will evolve over the next five years." She added: "Our emblem needs to be modern, bold, flexible and as relevant today as in five years' time. "We want our Games to be different. We are hosting them in a different era, in 2012. "The emblem needs to work across new platforms that reach young people."

Muha ha ha ha ha ha...this means Lisa will give head in unusual positions. It sure will make the Games different. Good ol' Wolf Ollins 400,000 pounds for crap. What's next, a flexible morph into Lisa playing with herself!

Get real.

The most I made on a logo was about $4000, but it was a big corporation and that was mostly time spent at meetings, and then meeting with the next person and the board... and crap with minor changes here and there...

Nice - I charge more for corporate work - but that's the 'small business & startup rate' - I do them business cards included in that amount too.

The top half would kind of work if it was for London Zooooo.
(That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it - but then I'm not much of a Simpsons fan:innocent: ).

Shocker. But then again that's probably the whole point:
It's got everyone bitching about it, hasn't it?
You can't buy that kind of publicity...
