Welcome to the KB whirlpool. Don't think the Seafury flew until after WWII but it was certainly designed during that era. There was one in NZ that was obtained from Iraq and flown by Robbie Booth who flew it with an artificial leg.
He certainly had his share of frights in the thing, especially during take-off and landing.

Welcome to this Hotel California style loony bin, run and occupied by the inmates.

And these inmates are full of knowledge, helpfull advice and sympathy - as well as insults, abuse and slagging, at time it is hard to tell which catagory their post actually is.

Welcome to the madhouse!

Don't think the Seafury flew until after WWII but it was certainly designed during that era.
Was derived from the Hawker Tempest in late '44. The first two were converted Tempests.
First Sea Fury Mk X came off the line, 7/9/46.

wowo aircraft buffs as well as bike buffs i'm impressed. And yes the Seafury did come from the tempest. Most tempests got a name change when they hit the pacific service to the Seafury. And just like flying i guess you never really settle on an aircraft til you have tried a few so will endeavour to do the same with the bikes.

Good to see you on here finally mate :) No rush for the bike thing... but there's an absolute wealth of information on here, or if you ever need help, all you need do is ask. There's been many occasions when I've asked KBers for assistance, many of whom had never met me due to being in other parts of the country... and there's never been a shortage of offers! I'm sure you'll discover that in time. Have a look at the FAQ (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/faq.php) section too, it'll stand you in good stead. The stickies in the Site Stuff (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=28) forum are worth a read too.

The usual bit: Welcome to KB! Don't put your fingers through the specimens' cages...

Ty and it's about bloody time you put ya nose in here lol. As for the bike thing i need the licence thing first but me being the old man and woose that i am will prolly wait til the summer that gives me the winter to get those all important handling lessons in lol. May even take up the offer i had if it still stands up in waikanae. but until then who knows.

just wondering how much my old cycle riding of the pedaled variety would come in handy especially since i did a few races. I can honestly say a bike with less than an inch of rubber on the road flying down a hill at 70+ kph is a real thriller.

Rashika
15th June 2007, 14:01
you just wait till your doing JUST a wee bit more than that on the motorised variety! ;)

It's a bit different when we are wearing half a cow and cyclists' are wearing lycra!

err depends... there are quite a number of the motorised ones who wear little more than the cyclists At least most cyclists have shoes on.

Welcome to the madness, enjoy the ride

Try sitting on and test riding if possible as many bikes as you can of different styles. Find one that suits you and gives you a tingle of excitement every time you see it
