View Full Version : North Shore Cruiser Group.

As there doesnt seem to be a North Shore Cruiser Group, I was thinking it must be time to put one together, there seems to be lots of things organised in other regions but I dont see any on this side of the bridge, we could organise get togethers for weekend rides, join up with other group or regions, lend a hand with mechanical/technical projects etc.. maybe the group could cover the bridge to hibiscus coast, I know there are quite a few lurking in this area... what you think... :ride:

Sounds like a plan to me, I'd definitely be keen. I know I'm having a load of custom bits shipped over in the near future and I'' definitely be needing a hand with putting things like the light bar on.

Cool, We may catch up with each other on the West Akl Cruiser Run the 24th, but after that we will try and set it up, We probably should keep it as simple as possible, but perhaps ...
a formal get together at least a once a month for a ride.
We could ride as a group to join other groups/rides in other areas...
Some suggestions for cruise meeting places,
We could have Workshop days when required on a particular weekend..
If you have some suggestions feel free to express em...

heheh, settle down, LOL, as mentioned earlier thought we best get the West AKL Cruiser run on the 24th out the road first, will give us a chance to catch up with many Nth Shore cruisers then, If we can settle on a Shore Meeting Point we could all meet this side of bridge 45mins earlier and run over to Westgate together to join the others :-)

Another good idea
How about meeting at the Mobil in Constellation Drive? Reasonably central for all North Shore riders, close to the motorway, Upper Harbour Highway close by for trip to Westgate. Get together at say 8:30ish weather permitting and then take a slow ride :scooter: west to meet up with the others at Westgate. Thoughts?

Err, we are "The North Shore Cruiser Group" (harbour bridge to Hibiscus Coast) and we all happen to be on the Shore  needless to say other cruisers are always welcome to ride with us, we just want to get to know our neighbours a wee bit better.... but we do focus on CRUISER rides... Does that include Kaukapakapa district - directly west of the Hibiscus Coast?

Dont see why not, :-) Helensville warkworth.. but Whangarei is probably to far for quick get togethers, basically the idea is to have a group reasonably within reach of each other for local get togethers, Workshop days, day runs etc... but probably ride in a group to join other major meets/runs.. Seems a simpler idea from that point of view to have a Nth, Sth, East, West groups for the above scenario, and I think there are already informal cruiser groups in those areas now if not soon.

Count me in, now that I qualify properly :)
Don't mind if it's a Shore group or "Cruisers of the Universe Unite!" - I'm keen to meet more riders and do more riding. I'll be at the ride on the 24th unless something major comes up, aiming to bring a mate or two along too (although one has a 'busa so might not want to join any cruiser group). I like the idea of meeting up local and riding out as a group.

Damn I would love to go on a decent ride like that, but have way too much to get done this weekend at my property in preparation for spring growth (rural living huh!!).
We will have to organise more requent shorter rides too if people are keen on the odd 1 or 2 hour jaunt with maybe a beer and bite to eat thrown in for good measure.

Now is that a leading question or what, (and don't be rude you Southerners :laugh)
I'm referring to the fact that CHCH and WGTN, P-NTH.. seem to be able to get lots of regular rides going while here in ALL its a mission to find more than 4-5 cruisers to go for regular rides... Just looking at the calender shows our southern brothers are keen as mustard to get out on rides...
On my daily trips around our fair cities here in the north, I see literally hundreds of cruisers too-ing and fro-ing to work and back... are they all dead??? ex bikers? who can now only commute weekdays?? Where has their spirit of camaraderie and adventure gone,
Now, I'll just put on my mac, gumboots and hat, duck down and wait whilst the muck flies

Hi Lemure... cool, I know its difficult timing wise to get everyone out at one time.. Maybe we should plan on a once a month official run and then other weekends we send a text to the group.. advising if we are going out, even if its just an hour notice before hand.. then one could text back and arrange a meet point.. Ive added all you guys to my Buddy list here so u have my mobile number...

I think I past you heading North on the Motor way. Jude and I did the State Highway trip to Wellsford and back down to Orewa and Home via Albany. Jude's first longer ride and she's more than happy:niceone: Done over the1000 k. now and booked in for next friday week for first service. Just a great day for a ride and not alot of riders out there. Now the better weather is coming we should be be able to get the numbers up. I headed down the m/w to Albany to collect a phone for a home-stuck friend. The 10kph discretionary spped above 100 doesn't seem to mean much to people now - was sitting on 105 - 110 and most cars and trucks passed me. Then the "darters" in the megacentre carpark kept me occupied. Came back the same way and the same thing happened regarding speed. Was pleased to get home; but the weather was great, and the throbbing beast between my legs was a delight to ride. (sounds like something my wife would imagine. ) Anyway home safely with the chrome untouched is always a great result. :jerry:
I'll put both of you on the same list ...

Still can't figure out why I fell, my left leg just gave out and when I tried to catch myself on the next step, my right leg didn't have the strength to save myself! Anything happening this long weekend? I should be up and running after first service and a few other bits and pieces, this weekend. Have a mate with a Triumph America that he has just bought who hopes to go for a ride with us and the North( & Westie) Cruisers. Have yuh got that 109rrrrrrrrrrr :crazy:back on the road yet bmz2? Would be good if we could get a good few of us out there. I also see that 109 most nights at about 4.55pm heading for Glenfield. Looks standard but still has a great sound when he passes me,stopped in traffic(In a cage!), on the inside lane. Was down the South Island last weekend, but not on the bike so itching to get out there and catch up.

As soon as the summer "arrives" and we have the nice long days and warm nights (feb maybe) we are keen to run yup the west coast through the forest to Kaitaia and back down along the eastern side.. need to spend overnight somewhere (a night or two maybe) I suppose.. but from what I remember the last time I was up there the west side is just majic..

Yeah well they said the sixe I got was the largest jacket made.... now come on.... it barely fits me and I am only a petite 185cm and 95kgs... hardly big.
I tend to think the people that organised the jackets had no idea how big the cruisers were and therefore how big the riders would have to be to be able to ride the bikes to start with!
