GSF 250 Problems

Please help. My Bandit keeps dropping a cylinder when the bike is left sitting for a week or so. Put a new set of plugs in her 1 month ago. Used regularly every couple of days no worries. Left unused since last wednesday. Rode last night to work, And 3 cylinders again. On the way home, after 5 mins running, it cleared itself. Any ideas on what it could be?? Last time it did this it didn't clear itself at all.

Moisture in a plug cap or something?

Is it left inside or outside at night?

When was it last seviced and the valve clearances checked?

My bike is always stored inside. Even at work. Oil was changed 1000kms ago, but as for valve clearances I don't know. Seeing as it is not an easy job, I don't think the dealer would have done them.

yea as AJ typed for me - ride it, if you dont it will foul, its a common carb issue affecting all bandit 250s

the bandits are unsuitable as small city stop start commuters in my opinion, need a 100km/h run for a few ks (i rode mine small city commuting but went for night time rides twice a week (50-100kms) and weekend rides) - and still stripped and cleaned the carbs every few thousand ks

mine was the '90 45hp model ie no vvt or restricted etc - it was jetted too big so fouled quicker (i went for the rides for the sake of riding, not cleaning the bike lol)

Funny You say that. Forth cylinder came back at 13,500rpm @ 120kph. I new that revs eventually fixes all.

ah now thats kind of concerning, i assumed it was an all round performance issue - it is possible that yours has a problem with the vvt

Nah I don't think so. Its done it once before. But the bike hadn't been ridden for over a week. Runs on all four now with out any issues. Last time it had done it, the longets it went without being ridden was 2 days. Again its been a week since I rode last, and i find that it was down a cylinder. The last set of plugs were sooty and fouled, so hope fully no VVT probs.:sunny: :shit:
