2008 KB Calendar
Alright guys and gals, it’s that time of year again. :thud:
We are giving people plenty of time to submit their photos for the next calendar.
Photo submissions are now closed
Ordering:
This year the calendar will have a small increase of price and be $19.00 each.
Please pm me for banking details etc...
Orders have closed
Come on guys - get those bikes on the road, on the track, in the dirt and click away... last year we had a great calendar, I hope this years photos are as good or even better! :sunny:
:wari:
ps. Please keep this thread drivel free... as we will be using it as a resource for quite a few months. All drivel will be removed.

I'll be in for one callender as per the last two years. Will deposit the funds as soon as I'm aware of the account to put it in. Will attach a pic of the CBR600RR, but I doubt that it'll get in. Have higher res pics also. Cheers.
Just read the initial post and have emailed the submission, doh!

Thanks inline - on that note, no images submitted in this thread will be considered... only via email please.

Ideally speaking, what is the minimum resolution you would like for submitted images? I'll try to make sure I submit my maximum compliment of photos over the coming months.
One sent to the email to start you off - not sure if it's calendar calibre... but worth a shot eh? ;)
I'll be a buyer regardless of whether my image winds up in it or not. Good work!

Initial resolution should be just good enough for us to see it properly.... if I need a high res shot I will let you know

I know there is still tons of time left for photos to be submitted, but I was kind of sad at the lack of submissions we got compared to last year this time.
Then a few really great pics came through... in fact I can say, one has the "wow factor"...
Keep them coming guys. I look forward to see what people still have up their sleeves.

So Joni, what is the actual cutoff date and is there anywhere on here or a website somewhere so we can see what sort of submissions have made the grade in the past ? :first:
Regards, Stu
Joni
26th August 2007, 19:44
The cut off is 8pm 1 November 2007.
We dont usually post what has been done in the past... I can dig some out if you like, however would just prefer you submit an action pic (track or off road) or a scenery pic you feel is good!

OK, thanks for that, now one last pain in the ass question :shit:
If you have a calendar handy, any chance of measuring the size of the image in mm's so I know the shape etx and can effectively shoot to suit as it were.
I think we can come up with some good shots of the adventure bike crew for you :-)

Hi Joni,
Sorry, I'm a photographer, so what I meant was are the shots on your calendar square, 3:2 ratio rectangles , 4:5 ratio etc
Or really simplified, are they A4 shape prints ?

Are we allowed to use woman if the bike is only so-so?
If so is it a family show or anything goes (ie nude, semi nude)?
And would you be wanting a model release form?
*I wonder if my grandma dressed in just a leather jacket would cut it ...*
Deviant Esq
29th August 2007, 22:59
I think I can safely say that this will be a family affair, and while noone is stopping you from submitting any nude or semi nude images, they are unlikely to be selected for the final product.
Don't worry about the bike being "so-so", get out there and let the scenery do the talking. There have been plenty of "so-so" bikes that are part of some pretty stunning photos, so get creative and see what you can come up with!

31st August 2007, 18:09
Um sorry Deviant... but re the girlie pics, if they are good shots (top 12), they will make the calendar. Keep in mind this is a KB calendar and at the end of the day Spank me owns KB... and we all know his views on that subject... so if you want to submit a girlie pic go for it... just make sure its one hell of a photo (quality wise) else no it wont be picked.
We are ironing out the final costs with printers. Once I have the final cost, I will put the bank account and all details up.

Oh? Colour me surprised, I assumed that that sort of thing would not be considered, tasteful or otherwise. I stand corrected! SpankMe may well own KB but he isn't the primary selector for the calendar, so I wasn't about to assume that girlie pics were alright - espcially with people from all walks likely to buy one, females included! Still, who am I to argue... :shifty:
Joni
31st August 2007, 22:06
Dont get me wrong Deviant... it should be tastefully done, else yes you are right it wont go through. But 98% of KB'ers are guys, so if we have a good quality girlie with bike pic thats tastefully done, then fine! So lets see eh?
One note though, all pics need to be taken by a KB'er, of a KB'er of of a KB'ers bike please... not just any randon pics.

We should organise a street scrambler ride since you have Firebird pipes on it...... You should come on a Wellington Classic Club ride mate - lots a fun...
Joni
12th September 2007, 14:48
Hmm… those printer sure did take their time getting the prices through to me… but it was worth the wait as they got lower and lower as they came…
However, no matter what there will be a price increase this year.
This year the calendars will be $19.00 each. :niceone:
One catch though, for us to secure the lowest price I could get, we need to have at least 150 orders… now that might not seem like a lot seeing we have 8000+ members, but last year it was a hard slog to just get 120 orders…
So please guys, can we try and get as many orders as possible in this year. (The more orders we have, the cheaper the printing… so a little more jam for Spank)
Please pm me for banking details and what else is required.
Ta muchly.

Another 3 calendars were paid for over night - thanks guys! So we are now on 131 needed...
I will only be counting paid and confirmed orders as a done deal.
The photo submissions have been pretty slow this year compared to last... and so have the orders so far! This makes me worry, as last year we did not make the 150 we need this year.
Please be aware guys - if we don't have 150 orders, we wont be proceeding with the calendar this year! So... please, please, please don't let me have to go through a re-imbursement exercise... if every person who posts on this site everyday just ordered one to help support KB, we would fly past the 150! :innocent:

Joni
25th September 2007, 14:02
Thanks Ma'am!
Difference this year is, if we dont have enough orders, we dont go ahead... not like last year with people scrambling after the deadline. I have to stick to the deadline this time, and the number cannot be moved either. I negotiated a very agressive price to ensure KB'ers dont have to pay huge amounts for this calendar.
Yes I got a pm from your other half - no I have not received payment

Joni
25th September 2007, 14:40
Have you had a good selection of photos submitted?A good selection? In a way yes! However 70-80% of the photos are track/racing photo's. Some of them are stunners... however we need a balance too, some nice scenery ones... to ensure all tastes are catered for!
I hope everyone has not forgotten about the photos... but I would rather have them forget about the photo's and not forget to order a calendar...
:thud:

Huzzah!
At the risk of raising the ire of the Domestic Controller, I'm ordering one dammit.
Twenty squids for 12 most excellent and traditionally stylish photos of beasts belong to some of KBs finest stuck on my wall to get all giigly and dare I say it jealous over, seems a bargain!
Mmmm... 12 pages spread round the Man Cave(tm) where I can sit with an ale or seven and look not only at my trusty steed with love and awe, but also ogle the bikes of veritable strangers (and let's face it, there ain't many stranger than the KB fambily) whilst slowly... errr... anyway, you get the picture.
And it's not just a calendar dontchaknow!
* It can be rolled into a funnel and used for emergency fuel transfer!
* Rolled into a cylinder and used as a telescope for "Talk like a Pirate day"
* Wave to and fro causing a pleasant cooling effect through air movement on hot days!
* Small insects are no match for the swatting power of a KB calendar!
* They make ideal emergency coasters for LARGE glasses!
You get all this for just 19 squids, but wait, also with your order, you'll receive the warm and fuzzy satisfaction of knowing you're helping to support the KiwiBiker website we all know and sometimes love!
If you say you can't afford 19 squids for a calendar, why not make a $20 donation, mark it "In lieu of a calendar" and receive a calendar FREE!
So many ways to give the love, AND to get it back.
I think I need a lie down...

Where is confirmation for those who have ordered/paid? I love the mystery of not knowing whether a submitted shot will be printed, but to have paid and not know until (unless?) calendar(s) arrive is too much excitement for this KBer.

OK, so you want me to email each person who has emailed me that they have paid!? After I have matched up each payment to the email?
I was hoping it would be accepted that they payments have been made and the calendar would be delivered as it was the last 2 years... we have never had to do any confirmations in the past.
People may as well start thinking about who will be doing this next year - as I wont be... each year I am putting more and more of my time into something that is really not giving anything back but more work.

I know what you are saying Joni. Point is tho that order numbers are not fast and furious (as one would expect for such a nice calendar/good cause)...those that have paid may be left wondering "Did my money/order get through?"
Perhaps use Frosty's Trackday system of putting the paid names in the first post for all to see?

Just wondered if for some reason the pm did not get through and if that was dropping calendar order numbers. I have details now so will get my order in for 3 but thought you should know:sunny:

I guess I have, although presumably you can pay a little bit more per unit to have a smaller number produced.I negotiated a very aggresive price for KB, because I wanted to ensure the price increase this year was not too much for people to handle.
A little bit more per unit for less orders, would have meant the calendar would be almost $30.00 each, which is crazy, this is just a small project to raise some money and for our members to have some fun seeing the photos being used.... not a big expence.

Well after a fairly rough week calendar wise it will be printed tomorrow....
Rashika and myself have looked at the thing sooo many times now, if there are any mistakes I am not sure if our eye will pick it up anymore :(
Now just wait for delivery, do all the envelopes and get the suckers in the post!

Well the final product will be delivered to me tomorrow... however I saw it today.
Looks good... one problem, they have not included a back cover, which I asked for.
However if they were to unbind them and ad the cardboard etc, with the printers work load it would mean another 7-10 working days. So I said no. I'm a bit gutted that the back page which we put so much effort in is now right at the back... but oh well! I cant do much more this time round.

Hope ya haven't sent mine yet. Have changed address (have PM'ed ya). Would hate ta miss it.As I said in the PM to you, this is becoming a little challenging to manage as its not just you, but a few, who are sending those types of messages.
So to everyone who has ordered: As of 8pm tonight, if i dont have the right address, you will need to arrange for collection from the one I have.

To say my life has been a little chaotic the last 3 weeks would be an understatement. Sorry for the inconvenience Joni. I do appreciate ya efforts, but I have not done this ta cause ya problems believe me. If I don't get the Calendar because of it, I won't be blaming you.

Filling in a redirection form at the Post Office might be a good plan.
Unfortunately I think they charge for it now, but hopefully it's less than the calendar.
