I need advice on a missing courier package, and whether the information I have received from the courier company could lead to laying a complaint of theft against them.
Not really prepared to give too much info in the thread, so PMs preferred as it is a bit of a sore spot for me, and I want to give them a chance to make things right before I play the name and shame game.
Would C.A.B be a good mob to ask, or are there any law groups out there who provide free Q&A services?
(No, the package was not bike related!)
Cheers in advance you wonderful lot.

The joys of knowing scary Detectives in the 5-oh on a personal level, you do the base homework, buy them beer and things can happen :devil2:

Well, as I already knew, the poliss won't be interested in doing anything to assist in a civil matter...
But me mate gave me some most excellent big words to use, and tomorrow I speak to a Regional Manager for the courier firm.
Ah the joys of being nice when you're really really peeved, it gets people SO worried, must be that whole grinning crocodile thing...

Well, waited 4 days for the customer services person to ring me... (was supposed to be next day as promised by the GM) so bugger this.
Gear is on, and I am going for a wee ride to have a meeting with the bastards.
They just don't know it yet.
This should be fun

No, I'm over the nights.
It's the fact the bastards have lost my wedding ring and the first Valentines gift (a silver chain) that my wife gave me.
THAT is why I am going to introduce myself to them.
More details to come if I gain no satisfaction.

If worse comes to worse, you can claim on it and they should be refunding you. I had that happen when some gun parts got lost in the mail. There might be limitations on how much you can claim though.
But yeah, no claim could replace a wedding ring and personal gifts.
Claims take ages though!!!! well depending on what company they are. When I was working for a sportswear company they lost a box of Rugby uniforms for a high school and it took them 6 months to action our claim.
But as you say nothing can replace sentimental items.

Couriers, don't trust em meself.
My colleague had a parcel delivered signature required, when he got home it was on his doorstep in full view of the street so he requested a copy of the signature - the courier had signed my colleagues name and dumped the parcel.

When you get a parcel that is sig required, and is left dumped, you ring them up 'It never arrived'.
