After seeing Tri boys post of a Honikiwi Awakino ride have decided tomorrow would be a good time to do something similar on the GN Scrambler. Have not ridden the gravel road over to Piopio on the Awakino road so might do Honikiwi to Marokopa to Piopio and then back to Otorohanga. :whocares:

Have a great ride, I loved those roads when we went down to Whangmomona last month.
There's one really grumpy farmer out there tho......

Let us know how the Ginny gets on, sounds like a lot of fun!

Hey, I used to live at Uruti - often rode the horses and took stock through the tunnel. If you can get up in to the hills just past the tunnel it opens up into hundreds of acres of table land. Looks like the English countryside. You wouldn't expect it after grovelling around in the valley floors there.

The papa clay's a bitch in winter though.

It is one of the ones on the kiwi road. Towards the northern end.

Sounds awesome, another world in there that most kiwis will never see. I could not get through the tunnel as it was under repair. Was running short of time so made the decision to do the kiwi road instead.

Next trip to satisfy my curiosity with the area will be a two dayer in the next school holidays. Oto to Newplymouth via Uruti tunnel and back roads Day 2 to stratford up to Whangamomona through Ohura up through Aria and home.
