I am plannin 2 get a yamaha jog 50 in the next couple of weeks.
I just viewed a 2007 model which has only done 40kms (basically brand new).
the retail price is 2100 plus on-road costs, and the seller is telling me that the lowest he would sell it for is 1600.. although i might try to get it down to 1500.

i was just wondering whether that would be a reasonable price to you guys? as i can kind of c most people on this forum are pretty experiened with their bikes, and seem pretty friendly.

Also i was wondering if i was to take it for servicing around the auckland city area, is there any good advises for me? trustworty shops around here that you guys have been to?

sorry if similiar threads hav been posted before, but i have been searching for similar threads and this forum has helpd me out alot! these r just the left over queries.

and if anyone could give me tips or suggestions on the jog 50. that would be great!!

Thanx alot so much for yous time :D
and would apreciate alot if you could help out!! :third:

another opinion could come from Cheeky Hobson who just bought a Jog from a dealer out in Henderson, Akl for a bargin price like that. Send her a message and ask her.

You won't go wrong at that price. Trying to sell one myself (my sons) for that at 18 months old in top condition.

That's a brilliant price, if I were you, I'd be all over that deal like a fat kid on a buffet table. I got a "new old stock" 06 'Zuki for the same price and was very happy with that.

hey thanx for all the reply:D

Ive read alot of posts about the derestricting of the scooters.. but 2 b honest i dont really think i will manage to succesfuly finish the job without damaging the scooter ay.. is there any place i can take it to in auckland 2 get it done for some small amount of cash when i get it? sorry if im asking 2 much.. but u kno students.. im always low on my $$ ..

de-restricting it should be fine as long as i dont speed over 60km right?
i dont really think i'll be going 2 get my bike licence in the short term to be honest heh.

but i should only get that done after the warranty has expired ay?

im waiting for the sellers reply regarding the warrenty.. hopefully they have it :shit:

The other thing to do, is ask the seller if it is restricted or not, and if it isn't if he will "throw in" derestriction to seal the deal.

After all, he does want you to spend your money with him, not somebody else around the corner... plus of course you'll need helmet, jacket, gloves etc. Chances are if he makes the sale of the Scoot, he then gets a shot at selling you all the other goodies :)

yup i c thanx again for the replies

the seller has txtd me back and said that they do have the warranty until 20/03/08 :D

the helmet is included, not so sure about the lock, still trying 2 find that out@@ dont think there r any jackets or gloves involved tho aye@@

yeah i am really getting pumped up about this deal from all the feedback that you guys have given to me. heh

hopefully i can get a deal for round about 1500 asap. cheerz :D since they said there r other people wanting it.. dont know if it's true or not tho :S

You think so?
My 50cc Scoot does 70-80kph de-restricted. It also beats other cars/scoots/bikes off the line.

Love to know your thinking/reasoning behind the comment above?

lets just say ive got a long history in the industry..the 50cc stuff is too small to be seen well in traffic.. the lights are not bright enough .. the tires are too small and dodgy at the best of times..

i could go on but i wont

and i dont see a 50cc anything beating a bike off the line unless you count mini-choppers as a bike .. ( i dont)

dont get me wrong man .. im not bagging your choice here .. just seems youd be safer and better off on a proper bike.. the Yam Scorpio, the GN, etc)..

seen too may scooters end up crashed because they are nearly invisible

Dont get me wrong either, I just see this as a fun discussion. :dodge:

My scooter has nice wide 13" wheels, wrapped in pirelli rubber (as standard).
The scoot itself is as wide and high as most bikes.

Your statement was obviously a very generic one, I was just providing an exception to it.

and my de-restricted 50cc has beaten bikes off the line (to about 20-30kph) when the bigger bikes start to make decent revs.
(my scoot does have an aftermarket expansion chamber tho.)

Agreed, my 50cc moped reg. scooter will out-brake and out-corner any GN250 - its got lovely wide soft-compound tyres, great suspension, and disks front and rear with full floating calipers.

Peugeots 125 Jetforce has discs front and rear, center hub steering, and ABS brakes. Fitted with the factory option supercharger it will blow away the GN, the Scorpio and lots of other learner legal bikes.

My advice if you are in the city is get a second hand cheap and nasty looking machine as then it is less likly to get nicked. The only benifit to a new one is they are shiny and sparkly. This does not matter as it is still a scooter!

Still a good idea though as I am finding mine a great (cheap) way around the burbs

Lots of dangers out there... scary looking mother fuckers! Enough of the scooter bashing! yeah, their mostly idiots, but who cares! Thye industry takes their money... I've riden scoots for years, trips are usually 2-4 km, there perfect! ride every friggin day, sometimes 100km round the city. polini, oversize carb, car does better mpg... Always upsetting black SUV's! Sports bikers are at school polishing there knobs waiting for the weekend while i'm trickn! Scooterists rebel, enough of this subjegation! my drum is bigger than your drum!

There will always be better bargains in the second hand market of course. But as new it is a good buy, as is (and I am speaking about the new bike market from a dealer) the Yamaha UZ125 @ $2700.
