I just noticed the listing an hour or so before the programme started. Glad I did. Now all I have to do is remember that it's on each Sunday.

There was a link posted on KB once to a website about Canadian guy's Dakar experience. I had no idea of just how tough it was. The bits you see on TV, bikes blasting across the desert, don't go anywhere near showing the true nature of the thing.

A broken collar bone gota rip ya nighty:shutup:

There is a competion where one can win 2 days ride on a BMW but one has to be over 25 and the small print states that they, being BMW Experience or Doco Channel can turn down anyone they deem to be unsuitable for any reason. But one does to keep the gear though.

Is it repeated any other days? I need to give my mum time to work out how to use her dvd recorder so she can record it and post it to me.

It's repeating at 4.00am Monday morning, 12 noon Monday.

Re the ADVrider.com story - if you have a look in "Rider Reports" search for a series by Jim Hall entitled "Regullar Guy Does Dakar"
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209947&pp=15
and the companion story about his accident (dislocated hip and other things) and the aftermath.

Both the threads are inspiring and damned funny as well. He can write really well.

Be warned these are not a quick read...

Yeah I saw the series a few months ago and would have to say its awesome. Totally different to long way round but just as fascinating to watch. He truely is a hard man by the end of it, that auzzie guy is ten times harder though. Those guys are truely lunatics, going that hard in the middle of no where over jumps you can't see the landing of. No wonder multiple people die most years!
