From PMCC newsletter that arrived today. Someone might want to put these in the Events calendar thingie.

Taupo Race track booked for ...

16 Sep 07 - Track 2
18 Nov 07 - Track 3
3 Feb 08 - Track 2
30 March 08 - Track 1 & 2 (big track)

Quote from newsletter
"Options are bieng considered for whether the Taupo track dates should be run as races or track days. Given the complications of running a good race series including a full compliment of flag marshals, scrutineering, signing in, recovery vehicles, transponder timing setups and race officials....... discussions taking place at the monthly club meeting"

I think that means that unless we help them out, offer to marshal and assist with admin then the races might be canned.

Hope it stays as a race series.

Anyone know where to find a entry form, and a club membership form?

Thanks

I just got an email reply... meeting is tuesday night so we will find out the details about the series after that.... yay!
although it looks like the 1st round is the weekend before the 2 day round of VMCC.... might be a nice warm up for the endurance race :)

Had a lenghty conversation with Brian Morgan last night,It seems the club are having issues finding helpers and therefore there will be no race meeting on the 14th of September as stated earlier,They are thinking of running a track day on that date instead.I advised him to post a thread on this site too see what sort of interest there would be as there are a number of other trackdays happening at this time of year and they cant afford a financial disaster,So when their thread appears you better let them know your interested otherwise that wont happen either. There is some talk of them running a 3 round series with the remaining dates if they can get enough helpers,Seems the younger members of their club are not interested in getting involved as organisers and the older guys are... well getting older and want to move on.Cheers Billy

You have to race at least three club racings. From memory out of the five meets there was only one that had a clubmans races. I would wait till you were racing in F3 to do the nationals. So you know you have a chance. Or just do the north island rounds. I's a lot of money to do the nationals. I'm not saying don't do it. Just be sure that you will be in the middle of the pack. It hard on anyone being lapped once let alone twice in a race.

Well said Billy. What needs done by the helpers and how many are required? I'm sure there'll be enough interest to make this happen.

What were your lap times around the new curcuit???
Nationals is 10 times faster than winter series racing, so 2 or 3 secs to be competetive in winter might need to be 5 or 6 secs for nationals

youd be wanting to get Taupo down to about 1:40 for A1 track, and 1:18 for manfield short i would have thought to be anything even close to competative

back to the topic at hand.... below is an email I received about PMCC series this year... updates to come as i get them....

Due to being unable to get an adequate lap scoring system for this event, we will be running the Sept meeting as a "Track Day". Details of this are presently being determined by others within the club and once finalised (soon I hope) we will let you know.

We intend running the other three dates we have as a Three Round Pacific Series. Have sorted the classes and practice/race order on the day as follows.
1 F1 & F2 (split starts with approx 30sec between F1 & F2)
2 Post Classic/Classic/Street Stock 150/250
3 Super Motard up to 450cc
4 Pro Twin/F3/125GP
5 Super Motard Open (up to 450cc & over 450cc
6 Clubman's

One Practice of approx 8 mins per class as per above race order
Two races of 10 laps each per class as per above race order

Entry will be by prepaid postal entry ONLY. Class fields shall be filled on a first in/first on basis.

These changes have been principally brought about by MNZ Rule changes excluding SM from F3, the introduction of the Pro twins class and time constraints imposed by the reduced circuit open/close times.

Full details will be forwarded when properly sorted.

Regards,

Brian Morgan

Not at all after only my second time on the A1 track and with gear box problems i was doing 1.44s so 1.40s is exactly what F3 bikes would be doing and the likes of glen williams will probably be doing 1.36s??

Thanks for the update Nicky.

Have never run at the big track at Taupo with timing on - so dunno the times sorry, - but they wont be miles away from a handy F2 bike time, as the track is quite a twisty turny thingy aye & the small bike gets thru the turns pretty well. Glen
