Best of British mate, new bikes are almost better than sex

What did you have prior? Or what's the fastest you have ridden? Will this be much of an upgrade in power?

As Ive said in one of the previous threads the only bike ive owned previously was an SR250 so yes this will be an upgrade in power...but so would every bike this side of a scooter.

Will be taking it very cautious for quite awhile

Wrote it off on the 13th of June just gone & replaced it with a RF900R, yep its an upgrade alright, glad I didn't bother with anything less than a 600. You are gunna love it mate, fricken awesome fun :scooter:

Its done 51k

Yeah I like the packrack, probably not much need around town but this is a toy so being able to do abit more travelling on it sounds good.

It has different clipons and the footpegs moved abit forwards to make the posture more upright too. I have the bits to put it back to stock but for now they suit me.

Tidy little bike.

They are little, certainly not as quick as a Jap 600 inline 4 but that's not the point of them - it's an absolute blast in the twisties.

I moved up from a VTR250 so 32hp to 53hp and 24Nm to 50Nm.

The increase in torque (and the fact that 70% of it is delivered by 3,000rpm!) just feels huge after the 250.

The paintwork on them is gorgeous too - so deep, so red, so shiny....

Service intervals are huuuuuuge too. And parts are cheap - don't let people tell you otherwise.

I havnt even had a chance to give it a wash yet let alone a polish. I picked it up in the rain so its looking pretty filthy at the moment. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like once I give in a proper going over.

About to find that out soon. I need a new choke switch as this one is broken/missing. The PO told me its a hopeless stepped system and Im better adopting something else with a more analogue adjustment. Would you agree?

Not really - only needed the choke on the really frosty cold mornings - use a touch of choke (first click) and use the analogue throttle for about 10 secs - engine is now warm enough to idle for a minute on first choke click then warm enough to idle with no choke at all :)

This is what your bike will look like once it's cleaned....minus the extra fairing vent of course (1997 year of manufacture only!).

Yeah that suits me. Will go talk to Motomart and see what they can get me one for.

Yours looks very nice, few differences, totally different stickers on the fairing, mine has the packrack and I dont have a cover for the pillion seat.

Seems strange considering them little, it still feels pretty big to me after the SR but I was surprised how light it felt. Havnt had any trouble with it in that respect...though I do hate the rediculous amount of lock it has...will be easier once I get rid of another of my cars and it isnt so tight around here. At least one is already gone, otherwise id probably have to have backed a car onto the road just to get it in and out.

If you think your bike is big try sitting on a Gixxer 1000, Fireblade, ZX10R or even some of the IL4 6 hundies.

Everything feels big after a 250 because everyone except Hyosung thinks all 250 riders are 5'00" tall.

Well my photography skills still leave alot to be desired but at least you can see the bike in these photos.

Alot cleaner than it was on the ferry too. Still got a fair bit more polishing before ill be satisfied though:rockon:

Hey Bullitt,

Hasn't anyone told you

Bikes are for riding

Not polishing

This applies to Ducatis especially :)

They gotta be clean..less wide resistance for one!...not to mention everyone you see saying...OMG look at that nice clean bike!...

Hey Bullitt, what are you header pipes made of? They look like they've been painted black (which is usually a sign that they're made of steel).

Mine has titanium headers that I thought were standard. Do me a favour and see if a fridge magnet sticks to 'em.

Cheers.

They might SAY that

But what they are thinking is...

OMG what a waste - that bike needs to be ridden

The headers arnt painted black, theyre just coated in 51ks of dirt. Not sure what the surface is actually, it looks chromed where the pipes join together but too dirty to tell by the engine. A magnet does stick to them though so theyre likely steel.

I have every intention of riding it. Ive done about 100ks in a week considering I dont commute on it I dont think is too bad. No reason I cant keep it looking shiny though.

I've had mine for 3 months - covered 6,000km in some of the filthiest weather Auckland can throw at a bike.

Still shiny!:sunny:
