I thought I'd share this advert with you all - sort of sums it up for me.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I got back into riding earlier this year and the wife is so keen she wants to come for rides on the back. So we just bought her a new jacket and helmet.
I feel sorry for the guy selling the bike.

I'm one of the lucky ones too. Although she hates bikes and wil never get on one she's keen to let me do what I want. When K6K mentioned Superbike School in November she looked into airfares for me. She wants to come shop in Melbourne.... guess I can live with that!!

Man - I wish my wife was into bikes,
My wife is the one without a car license. She was into bikes before we got married. She's had a 600 Hornet for a few years now after we decided the CB250 was a bit small for Hamilton and back every week. I'm itching to join here on a bigger bike but I'll have to wait until my pocket grows (the GN's great around town though).

My wife isn't the slightest bit interested in bikes, Which is fine by me, Its my time, and she would just bitch and moan about near-death experiences and what not.
Can't say I have ever even thought about discussing the money aspect of it with her, I had bikes before I met her, Can't imagine a time when I don't have at least one. Hell, I have to work damn near every day for the rest of my life and if someone/anyone tried to stop me owning a bike I'd be just a tad hostile, It would be a short sharp discussion.
Besides, I could probably just kill her 2 mongrel cats to save a few dollars, whats cat food and vet bills for 12 years?

Well I don't have a problem (well not this kind of a problem anyway). Nasty got a bike first ... and I got the bug.
I like the quote from the thread about cops chasing boy racers, "it's not my fault, it's someone else's fault". Therefore it's all Nasty's fault I fell off.

. Sometimes I wish my wife was NOT into bikes.
We're about to sell our house and she's already talking about spending $14K of the proceeds on HER bike.
Not to mention the fact that if she goes on a weekend ride I have to look after the children (not that much of a chore as they're great wee fellas) so I only get to go on a ride every second weekend.
Count yourselves lucky - the rego on double the number of bikes is quite a punch in the wallet.
But I love her dearly:love:

My wife was the one who suggested I start racing.
Her logic was that it would slow me down on the roads - I definitely don't ride on the road anyweher near as often nowadays.

Once upon a time, I broke up with a guy who said to me:
" hell no, you're not getting a bike!":shit::nono:
His ass was out of there so fast, I can still see the smoke from here...:innocent::lol:
I've been on bikes as far as I can remember. Hubby had a bike when I met him, and that's how I hit on him. I said to him as he was standing beside it:
"if I had a helmet, I'd go for a ride with you":devil2:
5 years later (and 4 different bikes and Cold Kiwis later), we're happily married and riding as much as possible...:sunny:

I once overheard a conversation between my wife and another female friend of hers who was suggesting that she talk me out of bikes because they are dangerous.
She said, he had bikes before he had me, I think that would be a divorce if I even suggested it. She was right.
Besides which, she now has her own bike.

My wife convinced me to buy the KTM! Can't get much better support than that, she likes it on the back, and will like it even more when I get an intercom system sorted for the bike.

But isn't it nice that she shares your passion?
Agree re the rego....we have the 2 bikes to rego (and 2 on hold) as well as 2 vehicles of the 4-wheeled diesel variety....so it is not cheap with all the rego's, WOF's, insurances, and diesel mileage.
Hubby has been riding bikes offroad since Adam was a cowboy, and that was always his thing, never mine. I tried 2 wheels offroad but I just didn't have the patience, found it too frustrating and quickly realised I would always be a hinderance to him. We are now both involved with the local offroad bike club (and I've got a quad bike now).
A group of people from our club have dual purpose bikes and do road and adventure riding, and hubby decided he wanted to as well. I thought bugger this, I'm NOT getting left out. I was shit scared about actually riding on the road, but once I got my first bike and a bit of confidence on the road, there was no going back!
I know hubby appreciates that I am now part of the motorcycling world. He still goes off on rides with the blokes and that's fine. They are off to Cold Kiwi soon - I'm staying at home in front of the fire!!

Ha. I think Mrs Oakie loves riding more than me at the moment. I enjoy it as I always have but she's ready to ride any chance she gets and it's always her suggesting we go for a ride somewhere. Sweet!

As shown in my avatar, the wife doesn't mind the odd pillion.
But she is not mad keen on it.
She would rather get her own bike she says (but I would get myself a newer bike before we had funds for a second!).
I know this sounds hypocritical - and it is - but I would really worry to know she was out on two wheels as a learner. And in the last week I think we have had about three female riders down on the forum. If she was really in to it - I'd say go for it. But as she is very lukewarm I'm not encouraging her at the mo.
