OK so I did a couple of searches to see if this question has been posed and didn't find it so ....

Have you tried Rain off gloves?
What are your thoughts on the effectiveness (or lack there of)?

I think I'll get some but was hoping for some feedback from those here who have them.

The website (www.rain-off.com) has some pretty good comments. How do they rate here?

Thanks in advance.

I use bread-bags.

But those that use Rain-Off gloves seem well satified with them - although the sprotsbike riders say the rain can run down your jacket sleeves and into the gloves.
Cruiser types with their 'elbows-lower-than-hands' riding style don't have this problem.

But yeah, the product is as good as advertised from what I've heard.

007XY has been using them for the past 3 years or so and absolutely swears by them. Drop him a PM if you'd like, and he'll tell you all about it. He's done quite a bit of research on it too before buying them.

I got a pair this winter and find them fantastic, example all the way from napier to Auck in steady pissing rain and my gloves inside were bone dry, good bit of extra insulation as well as dry leather gloves must be warmer, others on trip without overgloves had real cold hand problems.no problem with water running down the sleeve on the v Strom

Are they a complete glove or an over glove?

They're an over glove...long enough to cover up to about half way up your forearm, with a drawstring to tighten it up and stop water dripping in.
Very comfortable I'm told...

On the Southern Cross I used latex gloves inside my leather gloves but after riding Dunedin to Picton in torrential rain my hands were soaked and freezing cold, hence I'm looking at these.
Saw a couple of riders with dishwashing type rubber gloves on one day (pink and yellow) but thought the "Rain offs" would be a litlle more classy.

I use bread-bags.
Done that for boot liners - keeps the feet dry but the boots are still wet for the next day.

Shafty, email coming your way...

Just bought a pair of Spidi H2out for a replacement, had BMW gortex winterweights, they lasted nine years and were waterproof.
Haven't tried the spidi's in the wet yet. They betta work...

I have been using Ixion over gloves on really wet rides. (adv assault Whangamomona).
They feel a bit clumsey in respect to levers/feel and handelbars etc, but definetly keep the rain out. Warm dry hands rock.:Punk:

I bought a pair through TM. Very good, once you get used to the tripple finger thing. I don't use 'heavy leather winter gloves' any more. Just my excellent summer weight armoured ones. Hands get cool I pull on my 'Rain - Off' gloves and they keep the cold out too! Very water proof. I'm happy.
They rest on the seat below, on last Sunday ride.

Cheers.:first:

I've had a pair for about a year and find them great!
Not just for keeping my riding gloves dry, but warm as well.
The only awkward bit is tightening the elastic strap...takes a bit of practice.
Money well spent.

Had them for years and years.
Bought a set of touring gloves that had pockets in the cuffs with the over gloves inside so you could take them out whenever. They are getting quite worn now but have been good when going through a downpour. Only use them when its really cold or wet. but they make a sizable difference even if you use them to keep the cold wind off your gloves on a night ride.

Used my rain offs this morning on the way home from work, admittedly only 12 km but it was quite heavy rain. My gloves were bone dry and my hands much warmer than normal. $65 well spent I think.

rainoffs good product keep you dry and warm, always need to have a pair tucked away on the bike ready for the rain, you won't use them alot but they are there if needed, absolutley water proof....now that is a statement!!but remember they are only over gloves.:niceone:

I have a pair of Rain-offs and every time I've used them they've kept my gloves dry. We saw some atrocious weather on the Mainland and they were great, also acting as another (albeit thin) layer of insulation. Wouldn't tour without them in the the kit.

Not so long ago they were upgraded and you can pull the ties tight with your teeth, it saves fumbling with chubby winter gloves.

All good I say.

Are yours one finger or two finger ones, and what size are they.
I'd want them two fingered so i can get two fingers on the brake leaver, and medium, or might be large, I'm right in the middle.
Could be interested if your ones match.

Give up! They don't exist. I've come to think it is physically impossible to make truly waterproof glove using leather, and stitching. It can only be achieved by making it out of a solid sheet of plastic.... hence, overgloves.

Regular gloves + overgloves is a solution that works well, and ends up a lot cheaper than spending a fortune on top of the line gloves that sooner or later will end up leaking anyway.
