Ive come to the point where my lovely FXR150 :scooter: well..., no longer does it for me, as ive found there is only so much i can do with it and keep up with everyone else is not one of them
so what next? I am only thinking of a 250cc tho
being 5'2 and all of 50kg if im lucky i need a nimble bike im going to have fun on:Punk:
the ho GT250r ive found are too big and ZZR and ZXR dont quite feel right and you will not catch me riding a bloody honda so CBR are out of the question

From your comment in the Fuel thread we get the impression you're racing at Manfield this weekend? If so, someone may be interested in the bike

nah not at manfield this weekend off to a private road (closed for this very purpose so its legal) if all goes well but will still be giving it the flick even if it reaches over 140 as i cant run it on race gas all the time

I think that's abit harsh, I'm not just saying that cause I own a Honda (I got it for a good price), but the 250 CBR's are pretty good.
saying that, most of the 4 inline 250's are fairly the same.
how long till your full, you might wanna hold out and get a bigger bike for the same price as a 250

At 5'2" I'd go for an RG150.
2 stroke, small, light and goes like a rocket (nearly twice the power of the FXR). Reliable for a smoker too.
But that's just me.
What do you want to use the bike for?
Alternatively how much money have you got to spend? This will limit your choices.

Fireball - what licence are you on?
Your size and weight might lend itself nicely to a Zeal, or maybe a 400 if that's an option. The 250's cost about as much as the 400's so I'd suggest you look at a suitably sized 400.

Oh... Im happy with me kwaka at the mo... Still a few months till I can sit my full licence... Im not looking for a 2 smoker, when time to upgrade comes im looking more along the lines of a new 6R... *drool*...
Fireball is looking to upgrade from FXR to ?!?!??!... something...
Im still browsing and learning about features/pro's/con's of diff 600's.
As I plan to keep the 600 forever and ever and ever... and then everyone lived happily ever after :D :sunny:

yeah what he said
everybody likes giving them shite but there's nuthin wrong with em, i've had a suzi, a kwaka and TWO hondas and i'd have no problem owning another, try a CBR or even a VFR400 if you wanna go a little larger, the NC21 and 24's arent that big and the NC30's are actually quite small...and a HELL of a good machine, nimble and fast and seriously well-proven too
i also had a NS250R honda 2 smoker....hell of a good rocket also :Punk:

You wont ride a honda, but you would look at a Hyosuki!?
I believe you have your brands mixed up there my friend:shutup:
How about a GSX250?
Would be a good step. Pretty much anything can be lowered to suit, so dont worry too much about height.
I wouldnt reckomend a 2 stroke. Most are hand grenades and not suitable for new riders.

ive been riding for 6 years just tooooo lazy to get my ticket lol so am stuck on learner bikes to abide by law (try as much as i can to) the only reason im humming about the 2 stroke is servicing and other things that go wrong with them dont mind a bit of power i know how to use it!
gotta go test me a GSX i think SUZUKI POWER!

Less than 130kg so it's very light and nimble.
37hp so it will do 160kph (for track days of course!)
Parts are cheap and widely available.
Simple engine so good to learn how to fix yourself.
Chickadee's is not for sale though as I like it too much and want to strip it down to race streetstock once she has passed her full and got a big bike. Will ask her tonight if you can have a test ride.

Nearly twice the power too. I believe the GN250 and FXR150 both put out around 20hp is that right? 37hp is fairly useable. For example.
CBR250 45hp $5000
ZXR250 45hp $5000
VTR250 32hp $6000
Spada 250 43hp $3500
Bandit 250 39hp $4000
RGV250 60hp $6000
NSR250 60hp $6000
RS250 60hp $8000
RG150 37hp $1700
KR150 37hp $1700
FXR150 20hp $1500
GN250 20hp $1500
GT250R 29hp $6000
GSX250 30hp $5000
Rough as guts guestimate of current crop of Learner Legal bikes and average price for an average aged good condition example.
Indicative only - not an exact science but don't believe I'm too far off the mark.

kinda sick when you compare the FXR to the GN.
power to weight FXR is better but the GN puts out more Hp its doing about 22Hp but still i can gun the GN at the lights and the FXR is a sexy looking bike for what it is maybe we should take you bike shopping with me and lilsel when we go!

I scared a few, borrowing a GN125 from a friend once. GN250's aren't too shabby when you drop them at 4.
Its all relative.

The ZZR would be a great choice if you can bear to come over to the dark side. It'd be my first pick for a more comfortable ride with fairings. And it's a kwakka :Punk:
Guess as usual it comes down to having fun test riding everything there is to test ride and find what suits. I can't wait to start that process when I get my full at the end of the year.

GPX250 is the ZZR but with uglier fairings - Parallel twin 4 stroke. 30hp and about half a tonne (okay 150kg ish). It's up to you - it's gonna be your ride.

mate, hondas are farking good bikes, if you dont wanna ride one simply because you heard some silly twat giving them shit for no good reason then you're a tosser (no offense)
if you're on your full and you want something spectacular thats suits a smaller rider, you can't beat an NC30 (VFR400) - farking l e g e n d a r y bikes - then you're in the same league as a 250 2-smoker without the additional maintenance

KRR 150? http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showpost.php?bikead=yes&p=1211076
More power than the FXR, but still fairly small (a quick squiz on the internet suggests the seat is 2cm higher, and it weights 6kgs more than the FXR).
