Sweet a oil thread, ok so I was using Shell Advance Racing X2 fully synthetic but it has become near impossible to get, so I use Castrol TTS.
Now I have to say that the oil is used in worked race bikes hence why I want to know what you guys consider the best cos altho the best is most likely dearer... it would still be cheaper than a engine rebuild.
What 2 stroke engine oil do you reckon is the beter in racing conditions and WHY?

Using Motorex full synt in the KTMs, happy with that. but I do add a little something.....................are you running premix or thru a pump?? coz I add a little concoction to my premix for everything 2-stroke. Makes em rev higher :innocent:

Yours isn't a fully worked race bike and gets ridden by a Nana so used 30/40 would be fine

Just wondering, does the type of 2-stroke oil really matter for a 2-stroke scooter? I was given some Mobil 2-stroke oil when I bought mine, 200ml of the stuff, I don't think it's fully synthetic or anything like the stuff you fallas are on about. Says it's for lawnmowers & motorcycles. Any good, or should I dump it and get some expensive stuff from super cheap auto?

i have run Elf 2XT for the last 5 or 6 years, never had any problems wiht that, ran BEl-Ray H1R before that with no problems,
most of the wel known brands do a full synthetic, and they all seem to be pretty good,

Worked?
Not racing it, just for round town and stuff. But I do want to take good care of it.

Poll closed after 12 votes - WTF???
I think all the top synth brands will be just fine.I was using Silkolene, just because I was able to get it cheap, and was very happy with it.I've used TTS as a stop gap a few times and noticed no difference.I'd be happy to use any of the other brands too.

I just got myself a 1 litre bottle of Caltex TT Super 2-stroke oil for $10.90, hopefully it'll be okay. I saw some Castrol or something and it was more than twice the price.

Me two!
It's not a racer, it's only a scooter, but it does go everywhere hard against the stop...

TTS, like almost all the streetstockers down south. Used non syth once when I was in a bind for 1/4 tank, managed to foul the plug twice in that time. Back to TTS, no worries
And on another note, my bloody RG has snapped a powervalve .. again :angry2: Has to be the third or forth powervalve issue in two years on that damn thing. :bash:

I think I need to sort this out in my mind. Will the Caltex TT Super 2-stroke oil, made by Chevron, that I bought, be bad for my scooter or not? TT Super sounds a lot like the TTS that everyone is on about.

Yeah ditto, set of platinum tip sparkplugs and TTS and you're good to go.

Super 2-stroke ($12 per litre?) is a mineral oil. It won't damage your scooter, but your engine won't run as clean as it will on TTS ($25 per litre), which is a synthetic oil. So use up the Super 2-stroke then switch to TTS. In my opinion (not influenced by a great deal of actual knowledge, I must admit) a synthetic oil like TTS is definitely worth the extra money.
