I got up at 4.30am on Fri and caught the train to Porirua where I met Clive (Clivoris). Not sure what time we got to manfeild, (Clive had to keep stopping for pies and coke) but it was earliesh. AJ and Luke were already there so I helped Clive set up next to them. There was some crazy Scotsman swearing and carrying on next to us so I introduced myself. Turned out to be Sracha and Toast, first time I had met them. I spent the morning helping out where I could but mostly spent most of it sitting around being verbally abused, lol....

After they opened up the long track I went out to help marshal, of course the weather turned to absolute pooh's and we were given these HUGE orange wets which earned us the nickname oompaloompa's (thanks Clive!) Luckily no one came off by me and I really enjoyed watching everyone get better each round. Everytime they took us out to the points after the cars had gone back in, the track had starting drying nicely but as soon as the bikes went out the rain would start again!...

That night I stayed at Clives mates place and had the nicest homekill roast Beef with all the trimmings for dinner!

Got a sleep in on Sat and got to the track about 8. I had really only planned on watching on Sat but was conned into going out and retrieving bikes and riders. I was a bit nervous cause I am hardly the biggest, strongest person but they said that they were desperate and I wouldnt be on my own.... Picked up an few bikes, most people were sweet. Alot of mud and grass on most bikes though! I actually got to stand at Higgins corner for alot of theracing and had an AWESOME view and it was (kinda) free, woohoo! Unfortunately someone had a nasty crash right in front of me and it threw me quite a bit at the time, luckily the person was most likely going to be OK so that helped. I went straight back out and watched two guy's crash into each other! Didnt see to many crashes though, just the aftermath! The worse bit was seeing the state of the bike and realising that you knew the person who had been riding the bike, but there was no one too badly hurt.

Think that, that was the best weekend Ive had in ages! It was really great to watch everyone from different points during the day. I never realised how much work goes in "behind the scenes" but man those guy's work hard! It was also cool to meet alot more KBers, that doesnt include you Sracha and to catch up with others I hadnt seen for ages :)

Not sure how many bikes we retrieved but I was buggered by the end of the day. I dont think I even said much on the way home!

Thanx for helping out Str8 Jacket its people like your self that are the ones that make these events happen, so big thumbs up :niceone:.
Now my question for you is can you tell me what you saw when the two bikes went down in front of you ? as I was the first twat  that went down and I would like to know how willy went down behind me as he got K.O. so all he can remember is my ass wiggling :shake: L0L ( did he hit me or the bike and how)

Some thing flicked up in fornt of you and you tried to avoid it. NOt sure mighthave been dirt or sometihing....You lost your backend (like just about everyone coming out of that corner) except you really lost it and alomost highsided, you managed to almost keep it up but went to the left of the track while doing so... meanwhile the guy behind had seen you and had started moved to the left to go around you just as you went in fornt of him and went down. It was actually quite a slow crash in reality but when he hit you his backend went straight uo in the air and he flipped over the front with his bike stuck on his ankle... I was so glad he got up!

Yeah whatever, you loved the verbal abuse. Thought all your time in the gym made you an ideal candidate for hauling bikes out the mud.

Right! That's the last time I make AJ take me down to buy you a pie! You'll keep mate, you'll keep.

Seriously though, it was nice meeting you. How's Toast's hand today?

Thanx Str8 Jacket, the thing that flicked up was when the rider in front of me went around the corner he put his knee in the puddle on the apex of the track and it splashed water on the dry line.
and just to get this right, did I go down then he hit me or did he hit me and then we both went down ?

Thanks for the help Str8. Apart from my appalling track performance it was a great weekend. By the way it was that Scracha Geezer what called you an Oompaloompa first. I'm just easily led.

Should've known... I think he may have a thing for oompaloompa's judging by the way he had that photo ready to go!

Haha, that's pretty normal. By the time we were driving back up North ways I'd lost count of how many people Steevie has told to 'f*ck off' since coming to NZ.

Nice to meet ya, Hels.

Thanks heaps for marshalling on both days so that us clowns could go out there and attempt to injure ourselves :) You're a legend!

Phil.

:shit: Oy oy. I was only talking about big nasty companies like Telecon or the Westpac or racist dweebs who tell me to "fark off back home if I don't like it".
