Hi everyone,
Chris Lawrance and I have decided to put our necks on the line again, and once again hold the Taupo Road Race Spectacular this year.
Please find the entry form attached.
Hope you can all make it - great value for money! (and you may even walk off with a spot prize too!!)

Cheers,
Scrivy

Good on ya, was a great event last year. Chris asked me to try & rev up some of the bucket guys down wgtn way & have done so & will continue to.

C'mon youse s.island guys, this is a fun event & good break from the family that seem to want to come & stay this time of year. Now you have an excuse!!

I'm keen to do it again. AJ might too - though he doesn't remember last year.
That should swell the bucket numbers a bit.

Yeah Scrivy we heard it was a stunning event last year!

I know for a fact a few South Islanders are making the trip up...

Im not sure if we will be there tho, as we have Wanganui to contend with etc etc...

However, wish you all the best, I hope this years is bigger and even better than last years :first:

scrivy
27th August 2007, 15:38
That's why we made it Dec. 27th and 28th, so those that do venture up for Wangy can just skip over the island and do our fun event. If you cant make day 1, theres always day 2 to do!! :Punk:
Or are Divvo and Kick just too embarrased to come out and play with us North Island folk??

Seriously tho, if we can be there, we will be... just need to look at finances and everything.

With a bit of luck, the WBP crew should be able to make an appearance for this critter. This is, of course, making the assumption I can keep the bike upright untill then.

Should have bought shares in a fricken fiberglass company........:(

I would like to enter this event but , no class no can do.

scrivy

Hi old fart.
There are Pre 89's. They are grouped with clubmans. There aren't alot of either - so as per last year, they are combined.

Sidecar Bob was a bit premature actually............

I talked to Chris Lawrance about the possibility of having an endurance race on the last day of our Taupo Road Race Spectacular, not this year, but in Dec 2008!

NZ is desperately in need of a major endurance event.
I would love to see one here, and would invite replies to this thread to discuss your opinions on engine capacities, distance, laps, or time limits to be imposed. If you think its a doer, and we have lots of feedback, then I'd love to get one going.

Please give feedback, whether good or bad.....

Regards,
Scrivy

Sorry, stupid question time... would the endurance race also include Sidecars? :innocent:

I can see a few very tired swingers (and riders) in the making if thats the case...

But Diesel Pig from Chch would love it on Black Betty!

Sidecars?? Hell no!! I can't do more than 10 laps now!!

As for Pig - the only endurance racing he can do is to see who can eat the most family pies between him and Kick!!:bleh:

Last time they ran a sidecar class at the Auckland Bucket 2 hour they had 2 x ½ hour races for bucket sidecars. On one side it was disappointing that the class was dying and there were only 3 or 4 entries.

But it was also quite amusing (being that bucket sidecars were considerably less professionally nailed together than their larger counterparts) that the attrition rate was hilarious. One would drop out, then another & the first one come back on then the remaining one would break down. There was one period where there was an empty track for about 10 minutes!

There really was a race that was won in the pits!!

I wonder where they all got to? don’t think anyone races them now.

Sorry a bit off topic.

Nicksta
29th August 2007, 14:06
oh, i'm so in for this event!!
what do you mean by "uncompetitive bikes" in the clubmans class? I dont know if i should enter clubmans or F3 on Tweety.... is clubys going to be full of litre bike racers like VMCC? or is it really going to be novice racers like myself on 400's :)

Hi everyone,

Just talked to Chris Lawrance (co-organiser with me) and we thought that there might be some interest from a few people out there to go and pratice a few stunts on their bikes during lunchtime on the first day of our Road Race Spectacular on the 27th of December. I know there are a few of you that would love the tracktime to show off your stunts to the masses, but as an added advantage, I decided that the top few could do the same during lunch break on our second day (the 28th December), and also have some dollars thrown your way as well!!

If interested, PM me.

Re Camping at Taupo Raceway:
Can Scrivy/anyone please elaborate on what the deal with the "Camping available" is? Is it pretty much just being allowed to sleep in van/whatever within the confines of the Raceway carpark or is there an allotted area/paddock being made available for tents etc?

scrivy
30th November 2007, 21:27
We aren't allowed in the gate until the 27th morning, but we can camp on the grass area behind the pits on the 27th night only. We have to have security guards for the 27th night to be able to do this. Which is a good idea anyway. (I'm still trying for some 21 year old blondes - but I think I'm out of luck!! Buggar!!)
If you have to camp on the 26th night, I'm sure you can camp at the old circuit in the pit area, but no facilities will be available there.

Cheers,
Scrivy

We were asked by so many people two years ago to run the class, but last year there weren't too many 'proper' BEARS bikes in it. This year, it was mainly eligible supermotos..........

Sad to see two riders badly hurt in two seperate incidents in the final feature race. Also sad to hear about who the Guzzi rider was that crashed near Halcombe. Road home though there but dont think I was on the actual road where it happend as the only paint marks I saw looked old and not like a bike crash.

Very good atmosphere one of the highlights of the racing year with a low key fun day.

I'm absolutely stoked that we got the full round of races in - even in those tricky conditions!!

You guys were fantastic - you rode to the conditions and that enabled every race to run (albeit the last invitational which was shaping up to be a blinder!!)

Sleep??? Well, I got to have 75 mins this morning at 10:30!!
4-5 hours over the last 3 nights!! I'm shattered!

Two emotions for me today. Yesterday was the biggest high I've ever gotten from helping all you guys and gals have a fun meeting.
But when you also find out ya missus is cheating on you with ya best friend on the same day, what can ya think?

At the end of the day, I'm f@rken stoked that you all had fun. I ran at a loss, but I'm gunna put on a better one next year for you.

You riders rock!!

Massive day dude...infact all the organisers!! fricken well done!!
Would be awesome to run more than one event a year...I think you definatly would get support from the riders!!

I was chomping at the bit watching F1/F2 classes!! wishing I was out there!!
awesome racing in there from nick cole and shaun patterden in the second race!! shame about the victory wheelie ;) [have to catch up some time in hams for a beer shaun!!]

what an awsom day big upps for every one involved in putting this meeting together as always it ran like clockwork well done lads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude your riding is just improving at a phenominal rate!! inch perfect line coming on to the front straigh everytime!! can't wait to see how you go in the nats!!

Thanks to the organisers, marshals, everyone who turned up to watch (we all love to be watched) And all the people behind the scenes that never get thanked!

It was a great day despite wrecking my nice motor, but shit happens!

See everyone there next year!

Huge thanks to the organisers for a great two days.

I am stoked to finally be back on my own SV. Managed five laps on it on the Thursday and then the three races on the Friday. My grin was huge!

The bike is now fully run in and with some work on the suspension this week, I think we'll be ready to hit the South Island.

Big thanks to Billy and Gary Pendalton for prepping the bike over Christmas. Big thanks also to Gav for his work on Thursday and Friday to get me on the track.

It's been a long time coming!!!

Well I was gutted to not be able to make it after the fun I had the year before, too much work to do on my 500 to fix my 125 (start again from scratch).

Glad it went off well, next time for sure. Sort of track I might want to run the 500, guess Clubies is all it would be legal in.

Shame it's only on the motard (small) track. I'd be in like flynn if it was on the full track but it's cruel and unusual punishment to be able to see the best part of the circuit (sweeper and section leading out to the bottom of the main straight) and not be able to ride it.

Hmmm, I'll keep thinkin' 'bout this one....

racer40
7th September 2008, 15:48
Sorry slowpoke, but the cost for 2 days over a weekend for the full track is pretty steep, as well as extra personal required to run it. It is still something we are looking at for the future. We do have the full circuit booked for the endurance races the next day
