All of us that race bikes know and accept the risk we take to ourselves and our bodys ON the track. But what about on the way to the track or whilst in our Gargre.?
What if someone steals your bike from the gargre or your race van gets totalled with your bike in it??
The answer is we are outa luck big time--
We aint covered under house n contents unless its a 50cc bike
We aint covered under the van insurance because the van insurance doesnt cover a bike or two inside it.
Being as some race bikes are reaching the 20k mark thats a lota money to loose
UNTILL NOW---
STARMAN --(Star insurance)has once again and stepped up to the plate.
They will insure non road use bikes (race bikes and trailies) for theft, fire and NON racetrack damage.
The insurance rate for a year is pretty sharp too

I got the same thing through John Baker Insurance via Jetboy on this forum. Good peace of mind.

So how much are premiums for a year for as you say a 20k package?

acording to the star insurance rate sheet it only goes up to $15 K
that is $386.26 a year,
that covers the bike, however i am not sure if they cover gear, and parts etc, you should be able to get this named on your contents policy,

it's good to know that you can get race bikes covered by insurance, it's every racers worst nightmare getting their pride and joy stolen

I'm sure Dave at www.kiwibike.co.nz has a whole host of options he can recommend as well for people seeking "non-standard" insurance cover.

Hi Guys thanks Frosty yes we do cover all sorts of bikes. Any bike that is not got a rego or wof can be insured but cover will stop as soon as the engine starts and resume again when it stops. We also do overseas travel and anything else that you may want to do with 2 wheels. (sometimes 3)

Please give us a call on 0800 96 8000 or visit your motorcycle dealer or your insurance broker and we will sort something to cover your baby.

MNZ have a deal with an insurance company for this type of insurance aswell...

Question starman: why is it that cover stops at 15k??? when a fully kitted superbike/supersport bike is worth well in exess of that??

Call the office or get you agent to ring us after that price we need more infomation on you, your bike and the security on your bike. The costings also go up because the risk profiles go up but I'm sure that you understand that crims want to get more valuable things. Our charts go up to 40K on road bike but we have done some bikes over 100K.

Please call us or talk to one of our Agents and we will have a cover to suit your needs
