Cell phones aren’t cameras. Hence the Lochness/Bigfoot style photo. Obvious clue for Wellingtonians.
OK team despite the nasty quality; Where was this picture taken? Sunday 2 September.
Nice spot, beautiful day. :woohoo:

May give bling for most interesting answer. . . .
- Maybe even for most correct.

My guess is Karori somewhere maybe??? My guess is base on that ugly thing in the background and an assumption that you slept in and this was taken in the afternoon.

Where is the old gun embankement ? you know the big cannon that was put in place to fire shells 11 miles out to Cook Strait, never fired a shot I understand, must be why parliament is there.

Fooman & in particular Coldrider are spot on.
I grew up in Karori & used to ride my Bicycle up there & later borrowed A50 or whatever mates had, or go drinking up there & try & wreck some wretched car the sober driver had. Never appreciated what the view (not pictured) was like on a good day. This is taken next to one of the gun emplacements facing the Brooklyn Wind turbine & Karori Santuary. Wrights hill & sneak around the gated off track to the top.
What trail ride on Sunday? Waaaa!
Having said that we got ourselves pretty stuck down some off-track semi near the staircase last weekend & took an age to get back up it.

Actually they did fire a test shot in 1946 & were very happy with it. Broke many windows in the fortress & caused damage to several houses in Vervies st below it. (Not sure if that was the only criteria they were working toward) Could fire a 3ft 170kg shell just short of the SI coastline or Plimerton.
That's impressive. Sadly after the war it was decommissioned & in an ironic twist of fate sold to the Japanese for scrap metal. The emplacement was then filed in with rubble.
See I did learn something from my trip there.:bleh:
As Pete observed, what a waste of resources this whole war lark was.

Wrights hill was a mecca for dirt bikers in the 70's we rode all over the gun emplacements and all the trails out to the coast.
Trials Dave the foot up brigade. There was a GG TXT200 but mostly Betas - the John Lawton influence

Yeah my bro used to spend a bit of time up there. Must fix the TXT rear brake. The Trials guys trail rides up there are awesome, get into some really gnarly bits. I went for a Trials/Trail ride with Andrew T & John etc & 6 hrs later emerged hardly able to speak, though I was new to the Trials game & the old Beta.
