With the 70s music thread on here recently I'm surprised no one has mentioned this latest news for 70s fans. Led Zeppelin to reform for one concert only in London on 26 November with the son of John Bonham playing drums - that's about as close as we can get to the original line-up!:2thumbsup

If ever a 70s group was reforming that's got to be the biggest drawcard from that decade that I would want to see. Man I'd love to be there. Unfortunately, only 18,000 people will get to enjoy the show. Bugger.

Maybe a CD/DVD will follow to tease the rest of us.

How many entries have you got in the ballot?
I have entered a few times today! 220 million people had entered as of this morning for 18000 tickets. Almost makes lotto look like good odds.
If I was lucky enough to get tickets in this ballot I would be going no matter what!

Yes, but can Plant still pump it out like he could all those years ago? I'd like to think that he won't embarass himself like Waters did....

yes well it makes you wonder what they would of been like if they had listen to their manager and never released Stairway to heaven....??

or if jeff beck and eric clapton had of join the band when they were first asked in the days of the "New yard birds"

but they had talked about it years ago with john's son playing drum's

Good things take time huh!!

pray to the lotto gods:devil2:

David Gilmour released a very good album this year though: and Waters was always an up himself git.

robert plant has released two new records this year, and the last one I have of his (Page and Plant from a few years back ... its got Gallows Pole on it) is him in good voice.

Interestingly one of the CDs he has released this year is an album of bluegrass duets with Alison Krauss: it sounds great... Ah'm a gonna buy 'er.

Its called Raising Sand (http://www.amazon.com/Raising-Robert-Plant-Alison-Krauss/dp/B000UMQDHC)

check out his discography here (http://www.led-zeppelin.com/jasonbonham/jasondisc.html) its not like it will be the first time he's ever sat on a drumstool on 26 November.

Even though the concert is a one-off, if it goes well and the group bonds it wouldn't surprise me if there is a world tour or something afterwards.

somewhere I read that the estimated gross ticket sales on a world tour would be 500 million POUNDS... sure they'd have to stage it and travel and all that, but criminy, theres a buck in it for them.

the thing is, they dont NEED the money, none of them. They may want the charge/adulation or whatever though (why else are the Stones still touring? it must be ONLY for that reason.. probably the only thing keeping Keef alive)

What do you mean? We went to the Waters concert a few months ago, he was great in that.

They never did release it....

Mrs Kendog is totally amped about this one. All fingers are crossed round here.

I referred to the 'recent' LiveAid-type concert where he rejoined Floyd for a couple of numbers. He was awful.

Like all these old groups, I'm just glad I saw them when they were young and vibrant, not old and worn out, doing "one more for the bank account" tours.

Whatever happened to "dead by 30"!

Roger Daltrey - I hope I die before I get old.
Bet he don't think that now....

??? you talking about the save the planet thingy? lols he played at the New York event but with a collection of musicians, there definitely weren't any other members of Pink Floyd playing :nono:. He played Pink Floyd covers, ones of which he wrote.

The site dedicated to the Led Zep concert was getting 80000 hits per minute :shit:

It was something on the telly recentlyish...he played and sang with Gilmour etc. Perhaps it was some sort of Hall of Fame thing?
Whatever, his voice was dreadful. And Gilmour looked like he was barely resisting the urge to smack him one....
Few in/approaching their 60s can emulate what they were capable of when they were in their 20/30s...SPMan is right.

yeah that was a music festival in England or something :pinch: where Rodger made a speech to the crowd about how great it was to be playing together again as a group

Old voices can never emulate what they once achieved in their vocal range:pinch: It's better to remember them in their glory not burnt out shells of their former selves.

Though seeing Led Zep do a current live version of 'Rock and Roll' as they did at a concert in San Francisco in the early 70s would be a laugh:laugh:

Another example though not in the same league as either Led Zep or Floyd is The Police they're getting scorned for their reunion concerts :msn-wink: Gordon Sumner (Sting) has absolutely nowhere near the same vocal range as he once had and sounds completely flat.

Entered my name in the ballot today.
Ohh, how I wish I get picked,:sweatdrop I SOOOOO want to see them live, especially as I missed out being too young to actually see them live before John died and they swore they'd never play again together as Led Zep, so here's my one and only chance (never say never, but probably)
BTW, if any of you lucky buggers get picked, make sure you call up Hauraki quick smart, if you're the first to do so, they'll pay for the whole shabang for you!! Now that would be cool!!
(sitting with fingers crossed for the next few weeks).

Call me lazy. Where do you pre-register?

And the nay sayers can go listen to Rolf Harris sing Stairway to heaven if they are worried the voices might have aged. Of course they have aged. Time doesn't make exceptions for talent. I'd still like to be there.

I referred to the 'recent' LiveAid-type concert where he rejoined Floyd for a couple of numbers. He was awful.Yeah he was bad. But it wasn't 'cause he is old. All the songs they played were tributes to Sid and he was gettin' emotional, playing with all the guys again after all those years.

Might be easier to email them and invite them out here for a Kiwi Biker only concert.
