Hi All.....

We have the chance to do a test day at Taupo the day before the last VMCC round. Please post on this thread if your 99% sure you would like to attend as i need to get numbers to taupo track people to get this to happen....
test day is a little pricey at $180 per person, but it is testing on the T1 (A1GP track) that we will be racing the next day.....

let me know....

Nicki

yup... closed track test day..... we will be alternating with cars....
depending on numbers we might be able to negotiate the rate.... but cannot promise till i know numbers....

as i said.. its a closed taupo motorsport test day..... i cannot confirm exact cost till i know better numbers... cos with more i can negotiate a lesser price... i'm pretty sure with enough people... $130 is a realistic cost... it is not an organised track day so we cannot have the track to ourselves all day.... i'm only putting the organising effort in so as a group we can benefit from testing the day before the penultimate round.... they have promised at least 4 sessions of 20 mins... which for the record is more than a Puke open day.... which alternates with cars too...

let me know if your keen.... i'm also sorting out a pit shed so we have power for warmers etc as i hear they have put a quash on our toilet tricks.,,.

As i have said before.. this is a test day run by taupo morotsport park themselves...
its more expensive than a normal track day... but i'm negotiating to get the price lowered for us...
simple question.. are you in or not so i know numbers to negotiate with....

sheeesh--
GUYS its just simple maths ok--there is a $ the venue charges. that $ needs to be divided up amongst the riders that ARE prepared to attend.

Nicky I'd suggest ya call em and bung ya prices up according to numbers attending
20 bikes-$180 30-130 etc ---
When ya do can ya ask Grumpy to call me back--still waiting to hear from him

ok, so I called Jacki at Taupo just now and got a grumpy cold shoulder. Price is fixed at $180 per bike and she wouldnt budge. When i suggested wouldnt it be better to get 30 bikes at $130 than zero at $180 she just said if she got grief from the bikes they would just turn it into a car test day and not let any bikes out, that they had to pay for the ambulance etc and the price is the price, we'll give cars more track time. She mentioned that 10 other people had already contacted her to take bikes out so its not like she wont have good numbers at a test day bikes dont usually go to... but hey... she was grumpy :P

so there you have it... unless someone wants to pick up where i left off.... $180pp

one thing Manfeild has over Taupo is friendly track management, i've had many a chat with Steve and they have been more than accommodating. Stink considering I love taupo as a track.... grrr.

Fark. As much as I'd love to gain some experience on Taupo and give you a run for your money next round I can't justify 180 bucks for 3 or 4 sessions. Bunch of arse.

thats exactly what i tried to explain to the taupo people... at that price, no bikes will come... but they didnt seem to care if we were there or not... her comment about it just giving the cars more track time was a but sad....

But, i'm still going... cant wait to ride taupo again..... to those of you going apparently you just show up and pay on the day... see you all there....

One can't accuse them of being efficient or pleasant - took them several months just to get a reply to a letter the Vic Club wrote.

We can only hope that we find the venue clean and tidy this time.

Good on you Nicksta for trying to organise this, shame they cannot be more accommodating.

remember.. we M/C'ers are all wankers in thier eyes.. we kicked up a storm when thier nice new track sucked... they still not happy about that.. and the fact that they left the pits like a pigstye......

hope you guys have a great day warming up the track for us on saturday!!:first:

Why bother? Their customer service has been $hite, the safety on the track isn't great, the facilities are appalling, their track-time is expensive, their garages are expensive, Taupo accommodation is expensive. Did I mention I don't even like the track.

Roll on Hampton Downs.
