As I said last night at the pub... Today was a day to be spent down at the workshop playing with my Mini :D

Here are some piccies... Isn't she beautiful!!?!! :D

Took all the bits etc that were sitting in it & blew all the dust out & washed inside & out (felt a bit wrong hosing out the inside of a car tho... lol)

Hoping to have the inside sprayed next weekend & then I can start putting her back together. It has been over 6 years since I last drove her!... A project that went on the back burner for a few TOO many years.

She'll be back on the road in no time, esp with help from dad & Blue_Eyez.

Watch this space for updates/pics & more funky vids :p...

Are you leaving the rear seat in? If you angle grind off the front half of it, you'll be able to move the front seats back enough that adults can sit in it.

Parents are self employed, we own the building/workshop :Punk:...
So... I guess you can call it... my other garage?!... lol...
The one here at home is big enough for 6 cars, so once I've done the essentials down at the workshop, I'll bring her home so its easier for me to work on her etc...

I can see it now tho... *my friends* 'Where is Suz?'... 'Oh prob in the garage again'... hehe :D

I had some free time :bleh:... N that's the plan... hoping to have inside sprayed next weekend.

Have the wiring loom (new 2nd hand one, if that makes sense)... in my subaru as wanting to get a new one made using the other as a template.

Pulled every single wire etc outta her but wanna put NEW everything back in, even down to the wiring, every nut bolt & screw... no shortcuts here! :D

Jeez, the 1100 twin carbie should still rip some shit. Great to see your doing it all properly now.
My aunty used to have a mini done to look like Mr Beans right down to the bolt lock on the doors. Had a worked 1340 in it, so was a bit of a sleeper. Sold it a few years back though :weep:

hehe... yeah mini's aren't as slow as some think :D...

That sounds awesome!... would've got a few looks i'd imagine!

I couldnt even think about parting with her, I learnt to drive in her, got my licence in her, drove to-from school (I was known as 'the girl with the mini') everyday. Plenty of road trips with friends.

Just spoke with dad on the phone, we are going to do the engine bay & boot this weekend coming, preparation of the inside (needs to be prepped again due to sitting around so long) & masking etc so its ready for the inside to be sprayed next weekend.

Once the inside/engine bay/boot are sprayed, then we can start re-wiring the car as the next step then get the engine in & thats the main bits all done. The rest is after work stuff, a few hours here and there etc. :D

Im so excited... :devil2:

My first car was a mini, was great fun!
I gave it such a hard time, my old man would repair it daily.
Had a 1340 in it, weeeeeee, was a rocket, honest!

Have always fancied one with a busa engine or similar

And yes, definitely needs racing stripes...

Put one white stripe down it - front to back.

My mate has a blower (supercharger) for a mini, think now it's just missing an end plate. I was going to put it on one of my mini's way back when but went through a patch where I'd keep blowing diffs (yes mini's have diffs), worst one was 13 pieces, well 12 and a hunk out of the block. Would smoke em up in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the dry thou.
Them were the days ...

Dad has a tournament on saturday... so we'll be doing the painting on sunday... but ill be down there on saturday as well doing other stuff.

wanna move the engine out from under the bench & degrease etc... clutch/sump needs to be painted black as it is currently green but the new engine that I put in is black... so want it matching :)
at least doing the prep on it is still doing something that needs to be done :woohoo:.

Also the doors bonnet & boot need to be sanded etc so can get them ready for painting... otherwise ill end up with the car finished n no doors/boot/bonnet to go on it lol!!!

Gidday LilSel, you will defiantly need to put in discs if your going 1275 plus. The Metro calliper conversion is worth doing providing you go 12 or 13 inch wheels .

I currently have a couple of Mini projects on the go. One is 1330 turbo based Mk1 club car and the other is BRG Mk1 which may end up with a 1000 block / 1300 head / Webber combo (currently has a 1000 engine).

Will watch your project with interest :2thumbsup

AWESOME!!!!!! Sounds fantastic!!

Yeah the disc brakes I looked around for were from the Metro, about $400 each I think?... but as you say... needed!!...

Will be a 'weekend' project putting the disc's on once mini is back together & on the road with the standard drums... I already have 10" cheviot mags on her

I have a set of twin SU carbs too that dad got for me since its been in the restoration process... Going to leave that for a 'weekend' project later on as well & just have her back together n going with the single carb.

On sunday we got the boot sprayed, now its just the inside/engine bay to go... then back start the process of putting her back together. Got a new wiring loom to go in first of all once the paintings all done.

Have a couple of bits on the way from the UK :D... they should be here soon!... not taking any shortcuts with her :D

I have some pics of the boot that ill pop up shortly. Went with black for in there as I am going to make a boot 'tidy' of sorts carpeted in black.
Have seen sooo much stuff on the net & in the miniworld magazines (I buy them whenever I see them n read every bit of it n get all kinds of ideas!!)

I had a thought the other day... it was along the lines of 'once this mini is back on the road n looking mint...I should get another n make a race mini out of it... ' thats something I would be way interested in!!... seen them on the tv racing at pukekohe some time ago... thought to myself... 'I Wanna do that!!' :wari::wari:... where there's a will theres a way... I have a lot of will too lol!!!

I disagree. Have a look at the logo at the top of the page. It doesn't mention anything about cars, cages or anything on 4 wheels. If I wanted to discuss/ read about the 4 wheel variety, I would log onto a cage site.

Looks like it's time to call it a day on KB if this is the level it is getting to.

I agree entirely rwh. Unfortunately, KB appears to have more none bike related threads than threads about bikes these days.
This is not about being off topic. It's about whole threads relating to cage restoration. All I am saying is that this is a BIKE forum not a cage forum.

Not Bike. Biker.

Surely the whole point of the Off-topic/Rant or Rave area is for stuff that isn't about bikes?

Most of the time, when I'm not stuck at home with a cold, I just don't read this section. Occasionally I read one from the home page by accident; if I'm interested I keep reading, and if not I don't.

In some ways I agree but I use the 'New Post' link. Most of the stuff appearing is not worth the effort any more. You see a link called 'My New Project' expecting to see bike related threads only to find cages. I read 'mini project' as 'small project' only to be confronted with a thread about a cage restoration.

Anyway. Life is too short to bother with such trivial things. Rant over. I'm out of here!

Maybe the variety is what brings so many people together.
Yeah the common theme is motorbikes , but the tends to cover everything else from jokes / music to cancer and support for people that maybe are going through though times. These are some of the qualities that brings me to KB (and bikes of course)

You won't necessarily get that on a Honda or Ducati forum.

Lilsel is proud of her bike and mini and is doing a fine job on both !

Anyway , Time to check the bike over for the cliffhanger sprints next weekend .... seeya
