Got to the track with time to spare, set everything up and checked all I needed to check. This time I was prepared and preparing myself mentally for the riding ahead. I still have to work on being a bit pushier out there and not caving when people come close
Scrub in:
Bike felt good, the repairs on the track were pretty good to ride on and even though it was the dreaded short track, I still felt reasonably comfortable on it :woohoo:
Race one: One and only race of the day... 25 mins long. I knew endurance was going to be a huge factor for me, I'm not very fit and my knee is still weak from being trampled by my horse. So my plan was to go out there and take it easy... why is that SO much easier said then done?
I got a pretty good start, was in with the pack for a change... I'm normally to scared to be in with every one round turn 1! Within a couple of laps I was following AJ, I chased him round for about 4 laps slowly catching up each time then I was right on his rear wheel for a while when two 125's came through and pushed him wide round Higgins, I took the opening and passed
I was sure he was right behind me, so I kept pushing hard. Coming round Higgins I'm still not quite sure what happened, the back went and I started sliding with the bike when the accelerator went and the bike span away. Then Heellloooooo rubble strip and ground, sky, ground, sky... grass :done:
Third bin and I'm starting to get the hang of this crashing thing, not a good habit but at least I'm keeping my head up (I love my helmet) :innocent:
A marshal came and helped me get my bike back to the tyre wall and I got to watch every one else for the rest of the race, I learned quite a bit and it was an awesome view from there!
I was riding smoother and quicker before my bin then I ever have, beat my best lap time by a second, so I was stoked as everything felt really good.
So that was day one!
Thanks to Billy for waving each time you went passed, cheered me up a lot after the bin :p
Thanks also to my mum for always being there for me, Paddy for your support, Andy for you help with the bike and all that you do with the streetstock class, Glen for helping to get my bike ridable again and just every one there! You're all awesome and it wouldn't be the same without you there :)
Day two to come....
