Off to Tauranga on Wednesday 10th October and returning 11th Oct.Im going up to pick up my next bike.Doing a swap.So if you see a Yellow Suzuki TLR on the road on those days-give us a wave. And if you see me stopped on the side of the road - then im probably lost,as i havent ridden anywhere north of Wellington.Should be a good trip as long as the weather is nice.

You'll enjoy the trip  either bike will soak it up. get yourself a Gorilla strop for the ferry though to save battling with tiedowns & bodywork

Yep i hope the weather will be good, as its about 1700km to cover in two days plus the ferry crossings.

a what strop?
T.W.R
26th September 2007, 22:32
Gorilla harness strop  it's a load rated harness that has sleeves that the handgrips slip into and you attach tiedowns to rings at either end. It keeps everything away from the bodywork when the tension is put on it . They're about $65 to buy. Either whites Distributors or Northern accessories supply them so any bikeshop will be able to get them

Be a long, but awesome ride dude. Take an MP3 player or somthing as it can get pretty boring along some stretches unless of course your really trying out the new busa along the straights.

I bought mine from Aerofast NZ, Kiwi made. Couldn't find a shop locally which stocked them, so e-mailed jon@aerofast.co.nz and did a deal for mail order.
ps if you were in Tga going the other way, I'd happily lend it to you

Worked wonders when I brought the Vmax over. Makes strapping it down easier as well, took me half the time that it took a guy on a LS400 and his was still a bit loose.

I don't know how concrete your plans are but were you aware that the biggest bike meet of the year will be at Taupo that weekend, the 13th Oct. It's the final round of the VMCC Winter Series and a lot of KB is there.
It was just a thought since you're comin all that way and there'd be at least a hundred of us heading back to Welly on the Sunday

Thats a lot of riding in two days, bling to you for this one. Definitely meet the Towelronga crew while your here, will give us someone different to talk to - good idea Jacob re changing out meet night that week. What colour is the busa, is it new? not one of the new '08s by any chance?

Gee you have to watch which website you you for booking ferry tickets-use the wrong one and you can end up paying an extra $60 for return ticket.Gorilla strap now organised for tying the bike down on the ferry. So now all set to go on the 10th Oct.Cant wait.

I got mu bike from Chch and rode it to AK. It made me learn the bike alot before I came home. Well worth the time.
Mp3 player well worth it too!lol
Also the idea for the strops are a good idea. The Ferry do not care about your bike. It is up to you to strop it down. I used their gear and it is a wee bit over kill ( used to do cars!).
have fun!
