Argh!:argh:

Other campers came over when we were putting gear in our tent @ Hanmer and after they found out we had been at Woodstock they said "Oh, there was this guy here last night, he had been at the bike rally too, his name was Selwyn and he rode a big Triumph, he was heading to Picton today"

Shee-it, we HAD planned on being here last night - but CB said "Blackball" so who was I to argu????

Shame, would have been nice to have caught up with him again.

What a great rally. Bit of a change in entertainment. The front-wheel drive ute was "different" - pity they didn't allow people to do time trials with it or summit instead of a couple of laps then blowing the engine. Fireworks was good.

And good free and frank conversations about ... (stays on the rally!!!)

Panorama of the site. Covers the main tent area but there were a lot of tents in the next door paddock also.

Sat morning, got up Had my mandatory fag cup of coffe and WeetBix,
looked at the clock, mmm 7.30 plenty of time, might just look at the forum.
Shit, thats 8.30 at the peg!,not 9.30
So the rush began, shower, shave (yes shave) find all me bits and jam it all in the carry bag, Fook this is heavy, feed the bird, shift the goat to some fresh grass, lock up the house, grrrr wrong keys. Forgot me wallet even!!!!
Uncover Xsessivw Ahhh now dont she look sweet.

It was just on 8 when I shut the gate and puttered the 27k's to Waikari
putter? yes, brand new unused tyre on the back not wanting to be in a hurry to go anywhere.....yet!
Tanked up the ole girl and sat on the roadside ready for the pack to arrive.
Had enough time for a ciggy and here they came... a black and crome snake comming off Weka pass....choice

Tagging onto the end of the line and the smile was there on me face, choice
Culverton arrives and What! stoppin already, but Ive just warmed up....
Nature call for a couple and away we go.
Huranuni came up with a smattering of drizel threatening to slow me down a bit (Rear tyre was new remember) but we soon left that behind with the road starting to become more rideable,
The Hamner turn off came and was gone.
With a couple of humps and hollows, some quck lefts and rights we settled into a really nice pace (120) over the Lewis Pass to Springs Junction.
As the almost TEC I enjoyed this emensley, feeling good and in the grove as the added roll of the new tyre made the corners oh so much more fun.

A short fuel, leek, water and fag stop Reefton here we come.
Hellboy got told to hang his ass off his seat a bit more as those chicken strips were very visible on the right side of this tyres, but a discussion on road camber soon allowed him his ego to come out unscathed.
The Ninja looked real sweet there all black and glistening.
Togged up and away.
Soon we were settled into a good rythum the K's swiftly passing with Biker passion of short straights, tight and long curves, blind hill tops and
what was that? A grey shadow in the shady trees....brakes... stay left...
Who the fuck paints a truck smoke GREY,
Always listen to your intuition......I was no3 overtaking a car...didnt see the shadow till ...welll....I didnt see it....but it felt wrong...so I hung back ...whew! ( listen to your inner self ) Tragidy averted
Reefton arrived, ahh time for a feed.
" I never forget a pretty face" said the barkeep to Rashika
" But yours well, its a bit furry to forget" was my compliment
Under the garden umbrellas we sat and consumed our edibile morsels of spuds, pig and ground wheat, some coffees ( aka handles of whateva )
and the plesant sight of a very straight Suzuki 750 waterbus .
The enevitable locals were there to gawk at a good passel of rides comsuming the entire car park.....but soon we were togging up for that run to Westport,( noted that half the other rides took the more direct route.)

Dangerous found the first tight right hander (15k) a bit of a handfull lol
that loose pea shingle was not nice for any of us.
A sweet dash to the Inungahua Junction with an even sweeter blast twisting around the well built road of the gourge bought the trill of biking into its personalised zone of enjoyment. Cages, Semi's, rocks with the odd road kill were all that presented any form of obsticle.
A lesson learnt.
Don't try to keep up with the front bike......they will meet that slow cage on an uphill twisty section of road.... slowing them down till you catch them just as the first passing oppotunity inevitably appears and your back with the pack.
(noobs take notice of this)
S H 6 turn off arrives, road captain ( Dangerous I presume) indicates to us its best to scoot into Westport, fill the fuel cells before the dash to Greymouth.
As I was seeing 250k on the tripometer, I wisely agreed, so zap off behind the others to religiously pour the GST taxed gogo juce into Xsessives canivorous gullet. $31.25 sweet!
Till I see Lil'm pay for $12.40 for her litlel 400 Honda! Bitch! ROFL oh well,at least it wasn;t a GN250!
Charleston was soon laid to rest behind us, the Punakiki rocks being our bum relaxing spot, a laugh at the Harleys we were blasting past, quick puff on the ciggy....( gee Grandad you sure do smoke a lot)....them mount up to head along the nice straight to Barrytown.
Bloody Tanker. The only sweet curvey bit past the rocks, roadblock, milk tanker, mobile slow you the fuck down machine.
Whew, got past it, 4th gear, nothing ahead in sight, open the ole girl wide!
Yeehahh. 210k,9000rpm, hanging on for gim death. man that was a stress relieif!
From Greigs all the way to Grey it was ...Pass that Hog, ....Pass that Hog...
Pass that Hog... when were they gunna stop apearing!.
Like a group of zoned in wasps we paced that road out below the high clifs, craggy bluffs, super tight hairpins, Reluctent Hog owner, daft tourists in white mobile boxes, cutting the k's like a well honed knife.
From the T E C position I never saw one stupied overtaking manouver, one panick braking eppisode, on bum clenching corner from any of the riders ahead of me.
The only stupid action was from a dumb fuck on a late model Bonnie trying to Road Runner extrodinair. Dick Head. Glad he was not with us.
By now the road was beginning to become 3 bikes to each cage... Greymouth being no exception. Every Service Station from had at least 10 Rides either filling up or relaxing on the grass verge.
Bikers Had taken over the Coast!
Only the last 40k to go, no incidents, no dramas, no cops! Two rail bridges to pass, more Hogs, then look!
A white tent with people taking entry fees!
WooWhoo we were there.
Thus ended my ride to WOODSTOCK.
Now...... what happens at a ralley stays at a Ralley....so there :niceone:

The ride Home?

Thats another story for another day :devil2:

Beautastic (!) rally - my first Southern rally and it wont be my last. Had an xcellent time. Really good to meet up with the S.I KBers and put faces to names, Finally got to meet Scumdog and Oldrider, when we got back from our ride they had pitched their tents next to ours - didnt have to go looking for them.
What a great bunch you lot are...mostly
Special thanks to Shrek, Brent51, SVboy and supersonic who met me in Murchison - great ride down to Hoki, and a good day riding up the coast and Buller Gorge on Saturday. Pity we missed Dangerous and co but the trip up the Denniston Hill road was worth it. That would be a good road to hold a Hill climb event.
After packing up on Sunday, and stoping in to see some blokes in Hoki I headed up Arthurs Pass for lunch. MyGSFX turned up so we rode together as far as Springfield where I peeled off and took the inland route to Hamner and soaked in the hotpools for a few hours. Bliss!
(Turns out SD and CB were given the same tent site just hours after I vacated it! Pity to miss ya) Shot up to the ferry and home - knackered but happy!
Some pics:

Well it has taken me a long haul to get these shots up online, Since moving house and having to go for a wireless rural broadband I had way to many dropouts while uploading, took over 350 pics, and smashed me lcd screen on me digi cam on Sat nite, likely to cost 300 bucks to repair.... alas is life, and who cares. Never fear I have another camera for the vincent.
Was a great weekend, the pics speak for them selves, cause I really should not say to much:mellow:.

Gotta say though the trip out to the gorge and lake was awesome, and well worth it.

I do have a number of video clips, which I will endevour to get up soon, but most likely later.

Cheers Peeps!!!!!!!!:done:

Hey Dudes and Dudess's

Have decided to get up fairly early tommorow and put fingers to post and write up about this fantastic rally.

For those of you who havent seen my new thread, have suggested a "Goodbye to Summer in Queenstown" Meet and Greet, on 18th 19th April.....so will see what sort of reaction that will get, hope to see most of you Chrstchurch Crew there, as once you get past Ashburton, the ride through to Central Otago, is staggeringly beautiful, outrageously colourful:niceone::msn-wink:

Anyway absoultely knackered, had a bike meet with the Qtown bikers and we are meeting and riding up together, well they will ride off and wait for me in stragetic places!!

Right off to bed now, gnite, my kb mateypoos:yawn::zzzz::sleep:

Hey dudy's

Wooo up early to do this...............now hows that song go........."The things you do for bikes, like riding int he rain and the sun, when there's, no place to go, and you feel like a part of you is dying.......(Riding back after a rally!!)

Sels Dude, was nice to meet an greet you, might have to try a summer Welly rally next year.

Well what can I say...........Woodystock remains my favourite rally, for the site and facilities, the weather, and the fact theres shed loads of folk there.

The ride from Qtown and Thurs arvo was fast and furious, yep even for me. I had to stop for a snooze under a tree, in Hawea, the excitement must have drained me!! Then race to Haast, and thank you you:tugger: for the council that looks after that area, if I had wanted to skid for a few hundered metres across gravel I would have bought a dirt bike. Anyway, met up with IDB at Franz later on, and went to the Blue IceCafe and watched a Serbian Russian, Crocoian Gypsy band............yeah right they came from Auckland, and the place rocked....................what a laugh, and your dancing still hasn't improved by the way, ha ha

Then wearily got up for brekky and made the dash for Hoki, but before we did we ran into Paul Smart, Ducatti man extraordinaire:not: and what a top man He is....."Mr. Smart, I will have your t-shirt soon"......grabbed his email for future chit chats etc.,

By the time we got to Hoki, the campsite was filling up fast, and it promised to be the biggest ever...............Friday night was kinda a blur but was good to feel the grass under my dancing feet again and catch up with new KBers...

The next day we tried in vain to meet up with Scummy and the rest, in Reefton, but my god there are so many beatufiul photo shots around there, and even Greymouth looked nice in the sunshine. Did manange to catch Shreik and Sels for a quick pint though before heading back to camp via a pub on the bulla gorge road, where tennis was played on a sandy vollyeball court, needed the racket to swat a few of those frigging sandflies there, though, wicked little shitty things :ar15:

Back to the camp and most of the KBers were getting on the way to getting pretty munted....ghostbullet, tee hee, nice photo on my camera of you kissing the grass later that night.

One of the bands were good, the other one, well I cant play an instrument, so cant really critisise I guess.

Anyway, it was heaving, and fun, very boozy before watching those fantastic fireworks (I really will have to get you Kiwi's more vocal for those fireworks:yeah:

Off to zzzz's at 4ish, only to woken up by those pipers, guys if you read this please book in for 9 oclock next time, was funny to hear bird song mixed in with swearing, and telling them were to stick their pipes.....funny now, b t at the time:scratch:

By the time we left the site, time was a ticking, and the start of the ride was daunting all the way back to Queenstown in one day, felt like a documentary was about to develop!!!!

Ran out of petrol in Heri Heri, :weird: but met some cool locals and a bunch of Dunedin dudes I knew, so they syphoned their tanks, IDB drank petrol....thanks mate, I'd do the same for you:innocent: and off in the quad pak we went for a pint, chat and onwards........

The crown range by the time we got there, was like a frigging scary rollercoaster, but my trusty stead and my guardian angel angel got me to the bottom, although I had to lift my visor because of the fretful steam coming from within it. Any tan I have picked up is now a whiter shade of pale.

So thats about it, I continue to be in Awe at the Kiwi landscape, and wonder ohow much of the road I actually view when I am riding!!

And I love my new pipes which I think got recorded by Ghosty........mmmmmmm my Tex sounds like an adolescent tiger now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Vroooooooooom, Put Put Put, noweven made some cows run away in horror as I passed them:gob:

So see you all at the Vincent........yee Har:apumpin::wavey:

Well, back home now after a night at Rashikas and Dangerous - hadn't planned on being home so soon but had an urgent work ralted thingy to sort out so here we are.

Got here safe-as, had a smooth cruise down from Chch, best part was passing thre stocktruck/trailer units near Waimate turn-off, almost had to exceed 100kph!!

Got detoured near Pukeuri due to a head-on, ferkin' road-works all the way down here so total travel time quite long.

Superglide is still more economical than the Sporty despite being heavier and 250cc bigger (and slower:crazy:), picked up another muffler for the Sporty and have fitted it so it's all good again.

Sadly I couldn't be there; was riding at Round Three of the Castrol New Zealand Road Race Championships at Teratonga. Would've loved to have been there and gotten smashed with you KB'ers. oh yeah..

D: Scummy, Woodybee; thanks very much to you guys drumming all the interest up on the forum for our rally. This year was another huge sucess with a wicked turn out.

Yeah would be good to have a few other 'Norfies'...
I'm thinkin Picton to Woodstock, then Haast, Wanaka, Queenstown, Milford Sound, back round the coast, then up to the Vincent Rally, then North via the Mckenzie country and inland route to another soak at Hamner then back to ferry. But we got all year to refine that plan!

God, I have to say it,

I reckon that Hokitika's Woodystock is the best rally, its always warm, the folk are the best in the south that are there, and fuck, its just so much fun.

It was my 2nd ever rally, and on the 1st Hoky one, I can remember, being dressed in shorts all night long (by foo it was hot), propping up a strawbail, that was incredibly high and chewing the cud with some incredibly nice dudes. After Glenorchy this one was a real eye opener, and has made the rally monster extraordinaire that I am.

And again, would just just to say that those I have befriended over the years, I just think you guys are up there with the nicest folk I have ever met in my life, and take that as a huge compliement, as I have met some frigging fab people in my life, so

Sounds gushy, but to those wh othis goes out to and you know who you are, I matily love you all.

Tee Hee, getting some beers down my neck always makes the bumble bee in me go gushy. But shucks..... tell the folks you love, that you love em, as that's whats life's all about.

Yours sincerely, and mushily,
