Well the 5000 is up. Thought I'd say something profound but I'm not up to it so I'll just spout some shit instead.
I've been here over four years now. A full tenth of my life. And the same amount of time I spent in college so hopefully I've learned more than I did there (I've certainly paid more attention :cool: ).
Anyway, thanks are due to a number of people and I won't bother naming them cause I'd forget so many - you know who you are. I've made a heap of friends on this site, a number of which I expect will probably be lifelong ones. I certainly hope so.
I've learned so much more about riding than I thought I ever would about motorcycles, motorcycling and mechanics. KB is an amazing resource for the new, returning and just continuing rider. You couldn't pay to get better than what's available here if you just look. The support I have received from many here in up and down times is unlike anything I've experienced anywhere else in life. I've had the opportunity to meet with people whom I never would have met in the circles I used to hang around in.
There have been times this site has infuriated me, made me laugh out loud, made me cry, smile, grimace - its taken me through the whole gamut of emotions - sometimes in the same thread.
I've come to realise I'm pretty normal through this place - and that there are many many others as weird as I am.
I've gotten to see motorcycling (and other stuff) through the eyes of others I'd never considered the opinions of - and learned empathy and a small understanding of the human psyche through this. KB really is a microcosm of NZ society - and I hope we represent a large majority of the population here.
I've had the opportunity to pass on my knowledge to other riders - something I never had to opportunity to avail myself of when younger - I had to learn all by myself - the hard way.
I've got a lot to learn, and a lot more to share. Ash - you've created something truly great here with this site. I'm not going anywhere...
Here's to the next forty years with you lot.
