well any way i thought i would post my progress over the last few months.
how it was when i bought it
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/IMG_0202Small.jpg">
stage 2 was the seat unit
this is how it was last seen by you lot
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/PICT0560Small.jpg">

then i did some cutting ect
and put a different seat unit on
the cutting of the subframe
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF1038Small.jpg">
and the seat unit
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF1040Small.jpg">
and with the exhaust stubbied
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF1041Small.jpg">

i also changed the radiator to a larger one with a top mounted filler,
but you'll see that in stage 3 below :D

stage 3 starts with this little bad boy :D
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/5a8a_1.jpg">
a triumph sped triple single sided swing arm,
knowing what i know now i would have gone for a vfr750/800 arm as its alot narrower than the speed triple arm, which reuired me to mill it down and re-inforce it as it was quite thin
any way pics :D
after milling and welding
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0642Medium.jpg">
the other side
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0643Medium.jpg">
a bit of a test fit
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0646Medium.jpg">
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0647Medium.jpg">

here is the grinding to get the clearance needed
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0649Medium.jpg">
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0650Medium.jpg">
and here it all on, with bearings to fit the zxr axle, and a good clean up
from the side
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0651Medium.jpg">
from the back
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0652Medium.jpg">
and from the other side
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF0653Medium.jpg">

i have the rear sprocket on now, and am getting custom made dog bones to fit,
and then she'll almost be done for this stage,

and if any one says ive ruined a perfect classic race bike, then they can just suck my $%^&

Bro that looks mean!:niceone:
I thought where are you going here? With the swing arm, but it looks great and I bet it will wheelie in any gear now.
Good work.
I am going to be trying this with an rvf.

hmmmnz
13th October 2007, 11:29
i thought the rvf already had a single sider on them??

yeah i dare say she'll be a bit odd to start with as the wheel base is about 5-6cm shorter than standard (depending on the axle position)
but i have slightly upgeared it, so it shouldnt be too bad,

yeah its the way foward,
join up with http://www.nzstreetfighters.com or http://www.streetfighters.com.au
and you'll get some good advice,
i go lots of stick from this site when i started to street fight mine,
but every one from those 2 sites were really supportive and gave some really good ideas :D

i dunno where your scarf is :D but the fairings are still sitting here :D
found out why the gs was running rough when you had it :D
my little bro has it now he's up the north of scotland hooning about on it,
handy having a few spare bikes i tell ya :D

Could ya possibly arrange to get the fairings shipped over... that is, if you don't want them? It just so happens that there's a KB member not far from me who would make good use of them, as he has the same year ZXR as yours but an inconsiderate German tourist damaged his fairings for him. Naturally he'd pay for the shipping... and if my scarf magically turned up I wouldn't complain ;)

If it's too much hassle, no worries I guess.

I thought T.W.R. got some new fairings for the 750? He posted up some pics, looking very pretty, no?

As for the streetfighter -- nice work, it's one of the few streetfighters that appeals to me. Are you going to keep the front rim green?

How are you going to go about using that on the road? Over here modifications can be rather difficult to sneak past the WoF man. Is it difficult to have it certified?

over in the uk, no certification is needed at all, you can do what ever you want to a bike with no issues at all,
ill get the front rim powdercoated, just havn't got around to that yet :D
all in good time,
ill probly ship the bike home when im done over here,
who knows what the story is going to be when it comes time to register it,
i know a couple of engineers who could look it over and give me certification,
so i doubt ill have any real issues,
who knows, :D
time will tell :D

He did - some lightweight race style fairings. He's still keen on a set of stock fairings though, they're difficult to get holf of. When I was visiting hmmmnz over in Scotland he'd taken them off his ZXR and they were lying around unwanted, so I said I had a mate (T.W.R) who'd be keen on them. I realise it's a hassle to get them shipped though, even if he does pay for it.

well i have made some progress
first off my make shift rear set untill i buy a new set,
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF1116Small.jpg">
quallllaaaty it does the job for now,
next on my cards is the exhaust system,
since i wanted something that didnt have a little nozzle, i thought my best bet was a motocross can
so i got this fmf can off ebay
<img src="http://i15.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/b9/43/ab5c_1.JPG">
a nice titanium can,
i had to get the link pipe modified to fit the can and place it where i want, looking at it you would never know it has about 7 cuts and welds, the job is that good,... i tell ya its handy knowing a guy who has been welding stainless for nearly 50 years :D
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF1132Small.jpg">
and heres a side on shot,
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF1131Small.jpg">
and from behind
<img src="http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/DSCF1130Small.jpg">
i will stubbie it a bit so it just comes out at the wheel :D
surprisingly it is a very mellow sound, i expected it to be screaming like my original ugly race can,
i still have to lift the rear as i was sliding backwards under acceleration today, that'll be my mission over the weekend, and fix the damn leak i have aquired today from the shifter oil seal, bastard thing :D

I wouldn't go quite that far but a pair of Bates lamps'd be nice...

But that is *the* most interesting sf project I have seen.

By way of afterthought these lamps may be obtained from:

pah, how very unoriginal, every man and his dog has twin headlights,
zzzz boring, ive had twin spots on it and other bikes, while they are fine, i'd rather be a bit different, :D

ill keep what i have for now, if i do change the light it will be to something more agressive, not some twin spots or a big 80's single light :D
i'd probably go for something like this

I was thinking more of a modern styled one, maybe with an angel eye fitted... you could drill a small hole in projector, and fit a red LED... give it a red glow Terminator or Johnny 5 stz. Evil :yes:

A good rule of thumb for lights is the bigger the reflector, the more light on the road. IME anyway :yes:
