Lawns/Busa - Lawns/Busa, YOU LOOSE! Yea was great to have a ride, I really enjoyed it, very very nice bike all up, but still wouldnt swap the 14 for one. There was a guy who traded his red 14 today for one, so I parked my bike out the front of Maunders declaring to Mike that now he is Maunders Kawazaki I was advertising for him :Pokey:
I think I saw you heading south early arvo today. We were returning from Waipu cave gloworm looking. Then went for a ride on a DR650 which was a lot more fun than I thought it would be! I can see why people put retard wheels on them!

Probably was I headed south about 1.30pm. Had a great catch up with the Mahas then stopped in Albany at the Wickeds for a lovely roast pork dinner, I love this KB thing. Finally got home about 10.15pm, about 1/2 hour later Chris rolled in from Wellington! (and Gordie and Tina too in the pimp wagon )

Just a note for tomorrow's ride: Mangakahia (Twin Bridges) Rd still has heaps of roadwork, especial just past the Mangakahia Area School in Titoki. Wet lime and course metal in places. Have horse ta do so will not be riding tomorrow:stupid:

Made an arse out of myself on Eric's driveway (goat track). Managed ta stall "Roxanne" going up the hill leaving his place. Not a good place ta stall on a road bike. Dirt/metal farm track. Was sliding backward until I managed ta get the back brake on. Then had one hell of a time trying ta hill start there. Finally got moving but "Roxanne" was cutting in and out, which ended up with me putting too much juice on, spinning up the back wheel and down we came:doh: No major damage (accept ta my pride). Will leave before dark from there next time. Maybe more/less beer could help too:shifty:

Looking at going to Street Race not sure if leaving Saturday or early Sunday.
Andy who came last year with the Chook Chaser is coming as well, will meet him in Warkwoth on way down.
If we head down Saturday we might go all the way to Tarangaua and meet up with the Hoods there and ride with them….?
Who’s keen to join in? We will get a motel somewhere Saturday night.

5 went out, with two new bikes along for the ride. another DL two up lol, and a white m109. was great too see them out.

we headed through Dargaville towards pouto, but turned back once we saw metal road.. and the weather held up well, once we got away from whagarei. wicked roads down there.

but next week we will keep it in whangarei, tonight was a long ride, but really enjoyed it.
worth a look see ride folks.

best way to do that trip would be dirt bike, down the tarseal from dargaville, on to lose metal, then up the eastern side of the point along the beach. so the local boy said.

worth a thought

The Beehive tour was very informative thanks Mike.

What rain??? It was dry over the West side, Fantastic roads over there.

Filled up before heading over and fuel light came on after 180 km you must use more fuel on the West Coast, that would be the only explanation I can think of for the increased consumption!!!!!

australia, california, germany, england, hope to see ireland also parts of europe whilst im there. greece would be nice. so im doing the whole OE thing.
wish i could take the bike with me.

Get thee self to Andorra! Seriously. With a few grand to spend - 'cos you'll spend it! It's a tax haven, so NO import duties. And that means things like Dainese race suits for NZ $800 ~ $1200 - more models of Arai helmets than you knew existed! And 5 or six doors down the road - ANOTHER shop selling the same or similar stuff, so they're ALL competing in price! :woohoo:
Plus you get the full range of all the other stuff that you'd buy in an airport duty free - but half the price or less! (Booze, perfume, electronics, cameras,...).
Was there 12 years (groan... THAT long ago?) - on bikes, only planned to stay for a couple of days - 6 days later we rode out, after we'd shipped out several large boxes full of gear (some of it the old kit that we'd replaced while there) that we couldn't fit on the bikes!
A cheap way to get over may be to check out the 'bucket shop' cheap package deal airfares (you ski?), and get a week package from the UK...

Last night on the way home the guy on the Ducati Paso broke down just on the edge of Dragsville.

Had huge sparks coming out the back and smoke out the headlight, it was still running and sounded a bit flat. He was going to get his wife to come get him.

I'd noticed the starter on it was sounding pretty sick when we left the pub...

The joys of Ducatis! I'd told my missus to not be too surprised if I called for a lift home too! Mine had refused to even turn the starter over a couple of times earlier in the day, plus then the indicators stopped working after I washed it... then started working again as it dried out.

Went for a “CRUISE” on the M109 last night, From Huikerinu Pub to Towi Pub and back going past a speed camera twice…

Damp road and a real tight engine (saw 50 odd kms on one of the gauges)

So not much of a test ride and not revving it past 5 grand,

It was such a different ride and the sweeping corners where fun and very comfortable, shit loads of torque and more to come as it loosens up..

I would like to go for a longer ride and in better conditions to get a better feel for it.

Thanks Mike for the opportunity to ride it, Hope the “Boy” has all the Cow shit removed by now.

Cruiser my arse it’s a Battleship !

Just put a post up on this thread when you head up this way and we can give directions etc,
Ride safe.
Or you could come south east to Tauranga (see our thread) and enjoy the eastern hospitality. You'll fit right in if you ride Japper bikes (hell any bike will do), drink anything (canadian whiskey, mmmmmmmm), and we could introduce you to good old Kiwi food.
Gotta, say, the Northland crew are a great bunch too. Either way Im sure you will enjoy your time in this country, especially if you get to meet some of us ;)

Well a sad day has finally come for "Roxanne" I going ta have to retire her. The Alternator/Starter chain is now slipping and she has a whine down there too (which could be a bearing on the way out). Sad day indeed. Will park her up and put her on TradeMe as parts:bye::bye:
So no Thursday Night Rides for me until I can replace her.

chaina lake naval weapons base is near by, and got to love those jest buzzing over, wish i had my bike i could do the hole top gun scene. yeeehaaaaaa.

i can hear the music now. dam its hot, and i hear it gets hotter.

popped into a few bikes stores, and the emisson controlls over here are hard, and retard the bikes in a big way. lack of two strokes if any. due to heat a cooling systems are a must.
but as this place is surrounded by desert you can ride anywhere, and i mean anywhere. literally. no famrs for miles or fences.
just a warning to stay away from the naval base is a good idea.

straight roads are amazing here. drove yes drove (what a head screw) for over 20miles in a straight line. wish i had a tripped out bus or a 14.

also trying really really hard to keep the nz accent.

but im missing my bike, almost wanted to beat up a kid for their push bike.

i cant download my pictures anywhere. hey i think i might just live here for a bit, i wanna join the california highway patrol (CHiPs) yeahhhh

ill be back

The GSX1400K7 bikini fairing I've been told by Suzuki NZ doesn't fit on the 2005 and costs $1200-1500 with the belly pan, so that puts that bike out.

Hi Norflanders! Well been a while since Ive been up yous fullas way. Jay has been here for the past week and 1/2, shipping him home tomorrow :crybaby:
He is now ready for his first road bike  so last Saturday we went bike shop slutting  Checked out a whole lotta bikes from the new Kawazaki Ninja 250R, the Hyobang 250, through to the Keyway (he refused to sit on that), the Bandit 250, GN250 to finally settling on the Scopio 225. Bang for buck and size wise (remember Jay is a little fellow) it was the most suitable bike for him. And no, nothing to do with Chris now working in a Yamaha shop
So, once he gets his license looks like I will be out riding with my son (boy does that make me feel my age).
Will let you lot know once he's mobile up there, and hoping people will look out for him as he learns the hazards of the roads :buggerd:
