A few of you might be aware of a popping sound I was complaining about. I've figured it out but it's not good news at all..
On a ride today I discovered my engine oil pissing out on the ground, So I think the popping yesterday was drips of oil hitting the exhaust pipe and quickly burning away.
Anyhow, Upon poking around I found 5 loose bolts on the crank case!!! So pulled out the toolkit and attempted to tighten them... Just barely managed to get it home with low oil lugging it back at 40kph approx 2000 rpm in 6th without seizing,Luckily the oil light didn't come on so it didn't completely drain...
I treated this bike better than my last one, it never had a problem and rightly so that one was only 4000 kms old when it got written off, So now this one decided to turn to shit at 670kms old......
Now I'm not sure I want to go back to the dealer that this new one came from... And I'm not sure my engine is in very good nick after running with low oil...
I am really P.O'd at the moment :(
How could they give me a brand new bike with loose engine bolts?
So what are my options from here on out? I really don't feel as though I should have to fork out money for this and I certainly don't feel as though I should put up with a potentially damaged engine for the rest of my 250cc riding...

I was stuck in the middle of nowhere with no way home, noone to call, and if I did have a way home and if I left my bike in the middle of nowhere it would not be there when I return to collect it.

Take it straight back or if you cant get it there, ask if they can pick it up.
670k's is deffinatly under warranty.
You shouldnt have to pay a thing.
Good luck.

Thats what you get for bagging the Hyosung power big D! Who's faster now fool!
but enough of that.
Man, just reinforces what we were talking about workshops and dealers a. Don't ride it anymore, don't work on it or do anything up or undo anything. Make them collect it or come out to you and make sure you can look at it with them. I feel for you dood, thats so rough. If they say it's ok to ride and don't want to swap it they may be right but you want to have confidence in the bike your on so I would demand to be there to see when they take the casings off etc and ask questions too. Hope it all goes ok. Your like me! Poor experiences scartching shops off your list of places to go and not for minor things either.
oh, and get a Hyosung this time! hahahhhaa

You may not want to go back to the dealer, but you DO have to give them a chance to remedy any issues before you go rushing off to somewhere else and bag them - their sales support and bike prep might be off, but it's the decent thing to do to give them the opportunity to make good on any problems.
Fair Trading Act and all that... (could be CGA, buggered if I can remember, but bound to be one of them...)
If after they have rectified the issue you are not satisfied, then you can look at going elsewhere/compensation.

Theres an old story--youl get better results with a teaspoon of Honey.
Instead of "venting" ON A PUBLIC FORUM --CONTACT THE DEALER -Give themthe opertunity to fix matters-BET THEY DO

I think you're being a bit harsh, Frosty. Look at it from delusionz point of view - he's understandably pissed off, and from the sounds of it doesn't know what the right course of action is. And he hasn't even named the dealer, let alone slammed them.
If I was in his shoes, I'd be really pissed off too.
And look at when this was posted - the dealer wasn't available at 10 PM when he was feeling really pissed off.
It's basically just venting, which is quite understandable.

That crankcase is split horizontally... was it the side covers that have come loose? Take an 8mm socket and do them up again? And like frosty said about the oil light, its probably fine.

Can't really bag the dealer for loose engine bolts. They don't assemble that part of a new bike.

I wouldn't tighten anything.
Get the dealer to come and pick it up as it is.

My personal theory is:
Cheap bikes = average build quality & suspect assembly.
Cheap bikes = get serviced by the most junior garage staff
Ergo - Cheap bikes have a lot more opportunity to shit themselves.
End of the day -> try and break everything inside the warranty period. What breaks, replace it under warranty and by the time you're done you should have one decent bike assembled from replaced parts. Then do all the maintenance work you can yourself AND ALWAYS double check what the garage has done (within reason)
After owning a Hyosung 6 months I can tell you that with a cheap bike you get what you pay for (and make up the rest in your own sweat and time).

Good advice in general, I tend to follow that with computer parts, but heh, Motorbike downtime sucks :(

Good news mate, glad it was only a gasket that required replacment. As said before...its the dealers bad luck that they are stuck with a bike that Kawasaki didnt put together properly.
Once the oil light comes on and the engine has pressure built up you can pretty my kiss the internals of your engine bye bye :) Well some of them any way...for sake of an argument.
Those engines are great engines, shit brick house mentality really. I wouldnt give up on it mate :):):)

2 feet 2 arms-push?
A better suggestion - ring someone, have them put the call out on KB and wait for help. Try it - next time you need to - see what happens.
