View Full Version : YOU can be a TV star!

Or at least, maybe, a minor asteroid.
As part of BRONZ Ride to Work Day (go check it out in the Meetings forum), Breakfast TV want to do a show about it. With reporters (hot chick ones!) .
And they want half a dozen bikers to appear, riding up Hobson St.
This is your chance
Instant stardom. Hollywood. Fans. Fame. Celebrity. You could be world famous (in an obscure Dorkland suburb, anyway )
Seriously though, we need half a dozen bikers (either sex) who can be in Hobson St at 7:40 am on Wednesday . PM me, or post, or put your name down in the Calendar entry if you can help.
(Big thanks to Big Dave , who's organising a Harley to convey the reporter, and to Motomail who are lending her all the gear ).

Well, I don't know if you can it depends I guess on whether you've been practicing. If you mean 'May I do a wheelie?' then sure, you may try. Some comic relief is always good.

Can I sign up if my bike still has damage showing from being hit by a drunk while I was commuting? hahaha. But seriously if it's fixed in time I should do it. Tacho surround from Korea has taken 2 months so far... waiting waiting...

It's Breakfast TV. Not the Horror Show. Would you want to wake up to that ?

So video footage - all dressed up in full bike gear helmet an all?
Got my friend to put on all my bike gear and sit on my bike while a took a picture... creepy, was like I was looking at myself.
If I could rock out with my cock out then I'd be keen... at least all the ladies would recognise me :msn-wink:

Details of the TV opportunity
Could all of the bikers be at TVNZ by 7.15am, in our outdoor carpark off Hobson Street, which is just beyond the intersection of Victoria and Hobson Streets?
The live operators and I will meet them up there at 7.15am. If it’s fine weather we’ll ride into the courtyard as planned. If it’s wet weather it’ll be too slippery to ride into the courtyard and we’ll ride into the carpark instead.
We’ll probably start our brief journey just after the intersection, where there are on-the-road parking bays. Then we’ll just ride up into either the courtyard or the carpark. On screen it won’t look like we’ve only ridden a matter of metres but for timing’s sake I think that’s all we can do! We’ll be live on air at 7.40am.
Dunno about the 'too slippery' bit. But anyway, if y' want the chance of stardom, be at the TVNZ carpark as above 7:15 Wednesday morning.

Hmmm... well I don't see any biker chicks enrolled so far... and since I really do ride to work every day anyway... I might as well join in the fun! :wari:

Dunno about the 'too slippery' bit....
The TVNZ courtyard is tiled and can be pretty hazardous even to walk on in the wet. Wouldn't look too good if one of the bikes comes to a stop, rider puts foot down and ends up in a heap on live TV.
On second thoughts, it could be the beginning of a notorious KB legend.

I shall give space to the festive reporter that makes sport in the courtyard. The question remains, however, as to whether I shall explode my exhaust box at the cameraman rather than going soothingly by.

Word of caution - There could be at least one serving traffic policeman in the group I have invited.
The purpose of this exercise is to show that a wide variety of everyday folks ride motorcycles and scooters - make folks aware of how many, the improvements in traffic flow more bikes create (although the weather looks like scuppering that) and make us all touchy feely. Try and help huh. If I can behave - you can, Random, you hoon.
I've canceled the Hog in the conditions. Will be on the Buell.

S'aiight. Miss Reporter Lady probably won't have a stepladder, so won't be able to get onto the Buell, and will have to hop on my gixxer instead.
Oh, the humanity.

If she is any kind of a lady she will take one look at your gixxer and think "fuck that"

uh-oh... I hope this isn't one of the criteria for getting on the telly! Coz my bike has been riding in the rain the last few times she's been out so she's all muddy and grubby :( And no time to clean her before 7:15am!

Give the Volty a quick hose down tonight and hose off all that grime and mud, then dry her off with some towels....
Then she will look good.
