ok so i heard this song on the rock today at work

it's modern rock but possibly a cover

it has a harmonica, I keep thinking piano man by billy joel...but that was piano (believe it or not) or some other organ

it gets heavier as the song goes and crescendos at the end...

ROAR! IT'S ANNOYING ME!

I actually thought the Cornell album wasn't too bad, but I am mellowing as I age. Good on ya Zac.

The singer of said band is Maori and has long dreads. He also plays the piano.
It is about rain.
And the piano is mainly arpeggio-type stuff.
EDIT: And I think the band name is "The V..."

Riffer, try some City And Colour. Although it may be too mellow for you.

No such thing as either too mellow or too heavy for me mate. Real musicians don't exclude music from their collection for those criteria. :)

Yeah, that's it. Apparently the big bands that formed in the 60s, 70s and early 80s aren't real music even though some of them are still going hard today

You're onto it. If new bands were any good at all, we wouldn't be looking at the Eagles with a new #1 album...

I just saw the piano part and had a strange feeling it HAD to be that song. And boy did I have a hard time finding it.

But I'm glad I could be of help Dave.

There are some very good new bands out there, but unfortunately they are only played amongst shit on the radio. My Chemical Romance aren't a bad band, and although I/we like to slag them off, they do know how to right a decent song. I just don't like them.

But for these new bands to be any good, they have to have grown up listening to the old bands, which we extremely good. Try and find a good band these days that aren't inspired by a good old band.

I fail to notice them to be honest.
There's just so many that I won't name them all, 'cause I'll miss a couple and make die-hard fans angry.

But Muse would be the best band I've heard in a long time. And if you haven't heard Muse...I'm disappointed.

the problem with new bands is radio tend to them the rock plays what i consider to be a load of crap for the most part. They hammer the likes of pearl jam who IMO had half a good cd the the first 4 or 5 tracs on 10.As for greenday or criss cornel they moan and groan on.To me the rock isnt a rock station anymore .Note i say to me :)Hauraki tend to play the same songs week in week out .Anyways if you like music and want to see some of the better unknowns or up and comers try Alt tv Thats all i ever have on instead of a radio at home. They even changed my mind on NZ music.Theres some bloody good kiwi bands out there that never get any radio coverage
