Hi Crew, just a bit of gossip for you all.

I am going to be the team manager for Andrew Stroud racing this up coming New Zealand road race season.

Andrew will still be in control of all his buisness negotiations.

My role will be to take control of the racing logistics programme, ie spares, pit set up, bike set up help etc.

It is a huge honour to have this role with Andrew, he is a very talanted rider and a really cool man.

We are working away together at the moment, to try and bring one young rider into the team, so Andrew and myself can help this rider move forward faster, a really good opportunity for this young rider. It would be a good way for us both to give back to our great sport and sponsors ( Suzuki)

This is a fantastic chance for me to stay involved in the racing game, at the pointy end of the feild.

Thanks Joni!

It really is about Andrew and me together really, with our history as riders, it should not be to difficult for us to find appropriate sponsorship to help bring on a new young rider for the future as a star, and to be able to do some thing like this for our sport is brilliant.

Good on ya Shaun!
Good to see two former (racetrack) adversaries team up. You guys look like you're going to be in for an interesting season.
What criteria will you use for selecting you young racer?

YEEHAA!! :niceone:
Time to show the Aussie boys that kiwis really can fly!!
Doesn't matter how much talent the Ockers have, it doesn't beat over 40 years of experience from the two of you!!

Shaun, I know you'll have to fight the 'go slow' tendancies of Stroudy, but I can guarantee you that Stroudy won't be able to compete against you in the beer races!!!!

Now........ ever thought of managing a sidecar team???......... :shifty::whistle: (I know of two young fellas that could use some help......)

Now........ ever thought of managing a sidecar team???.........[/I]

I know you said "manage" but I just had a mental image of Shaun as a swinger, swearing his bloody box off the whole way through a race, haha.

What say I wear my school uniform back on & get a face lift Shaun................

Glenn, I've spoken to those dodgey characters you keep hangin' around with at the dunnies at Manfeild, and they like you just the way you are....go figure.....

Brilliant stuff. Chalk and cheese personalities here though eh!!??

We might have to set up a mini stand in the pits, could be more drama in the pits thyan on the track!

Nah, seriously you are both professionals, both set extremely high standards and you both have rare talent so to have a team like this on the scene is great for our sport. The fact that you are actively looking to put back into the sport says a lot about both of you. Best of luck for the coming season.

There, I said it with a straight face and I didn't once mention the murderous jealousy I'm feeling for the lucky lil' fuck you take under your wing...but for 20 years and a total lack of talent that could be me....so close....so very very close.....

Shaun

Hey crew, cheers for the comments.

I am convinced that Andrew can rider faster than he has as yet, so lets see what we can get him to do for us:clap:

Young rider

It is my/our intention to put Chris Bramley ( 18) on my a GSXR600

Chris Bramley raced for me 2 years ago in F3, and did a very very good job, I have a lot of respect for the abillity that Chris displayed to me, and hope fully, The money will come through to be able to help him for another season.

Last season, my buisness MOTO-DYNAMIX paid for all his racing, but that is not possible this year due to me munting my self up and not making any money for a few months now.

Good stuff Shaun.... take it to those aussies

:D

Providing these two polar opposites can work together this should work great and I wish them a good season. And as the suspension supplier full and proper back up is guaranteed.

But hey, we should also embrace our Anzac mates from across the ditch. They have assisted no end in improving both the level and spectacle of road racing here in this isolated sea locked country.

I am also looking forward to a great season and may the best men win irrespective of nationality, machinery and go fast bits.

well, time to tell the world what I discovered about myself last weekend at Pukekohe whilst helping Andrew

I have brain damage signs from my Isle of man crash unfortunately

I thought that I would be ok to work with Andrew in a professional manner that he deserves, but my attitude is not good enough

I find things very frustrating still, and have low control of anger management still, and since I am naturally such a competitive person, I found myself getting very frustrated with little issue;s, that should not have been in my head, but were!

So, I have spoken with Andrew about this on the way home last Sunday from Pukekohe, and have told him that I will not be managing him, as I am not 100% and do not want to be the cause of any complications etc for Andrew, his life is very important to me.

So Mr Stroud, thankyou mate for the opportunity to stay involved in a serious manner, and best of luck for the season mate.

This now also means, that the finance help I was working on to run Chris Bramley, has now also come to nothing, sorry guy's, I did try my best

ahh shaun healing takes time & esp with the amount of damage you did to yourself

Kudos to you for recognising your current shortcomings, you have plenty to offer racing and it will happen

first priority to heal thyself first then you can give 100% to wot you want to do

Thanks crew, I just really hate that word FAILURE

errrrrr Shaun its not called failure its called a set back .. & no one here thinks you have failed at anything ..

I will be interested to see what you have accomplished say in two yrs time, your determination is legendary and anyone who has met you can see this

so allow your body to heal, then your body will be in sync with wot you want to accomplish & it will be achievable

Like chanceyy said, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who'd label you a failure.

The fact that you're posting and trying to help other people out should give you an idea of just how much you've succeeded.

Shaun, the fact that you made the realisation and are talking openly about it shows that you are a bigger man than most. You've come a hell of a long way in such a short time, but there's still a bit of healing to do. I have to admit to shedding a wee happy tear at seeing you walking around at Pukekohe.

Your determination will see you through and I'm sure that you will achieve your dreams when the time is right.

:stupid:What she said.
Was great to see you at puke last weekend, and it's even better that you're able to realise weather or not you're in a fit condition for the job. Others would endanger their rider for no reason other than pride.
Hope to see you out and about this summer, us two muppets may need a little advice from time to time

Hay Shaun
Your recovery is amazing and has to be down to your determination to succeed!
It hasn't even been a year! Some frustration is only to be expected!! We are so proud to be associated with you.

Outstanding skill and judgement as usual Shaun. I agree with what's been written here already. Most people take at least two years to get the majority of their recovery from head injury done. I'm glad that you didn't discover problems on the race track. There is heaps of us who will still want to pick your brains for advice, it just isn't time for team management responsibilities yet.

Shaun

Thanks to all that have replied here. It is a true big dissapointment to me, as I love racing ( Sad bugger) But I am glad that I have admitted to the problem and can work on making myself a better person for my family and (Friend)

Damm shame Shaun, - But you know all to well whats at stake when you are out there on the track & nothing less than 100% will do. (& even then its not enough sometimes aye)
Hopefully you continiue your recuperation slow-n-steadyily.

Hey Shaun,

Its a bummer but in the end if you take some time away for a while you will beable to mend and dont become a better person your allready good enough as it is now.

Ive now known you for 3 years and my first time I met you was awsome, me being a complete stranger struggling for help came and asked you to watch me and see if you could spot anything and in 2 meetings we gained 8 seconds

Dont let this let down upset you you have given alot to the sport and still will even if your not in a managers role even if its there at the circuit helping people with things like set up.

Ivan:2thumbsup

you are a huge asset to the racing community and i know will help in many ways for a long time...
i thank you for all you have done thus far... and in advance!

Now look here Shaun...... all these comments come from hard assed motorcycle folk that either admire you , adore you , respect you or just plainly depend on you.
The only way to get any of the above catagories to fit is to make an impression on folks and be they good or bad you have made more of an impression on both novice and older hand racers than anybody i know.
Dont think for a second that the impression you have made on anyone (especially me) is going to be altered by your option to not manage Andrew. Your a legend in the sport and if you make a judgement on something im sure its for the correct reasons and only that.
Good luck mate and i hope to see you around for the next season and i know you will be available to help me with the program i am entering with Nicksta.
Cheers Paul.

Shaun.
Take your time, recover, spend time with your lovely lady and family. You will know when the time is right to come back to the racing scene. You have served the sport that we all love very well and I am sure that your driven passion will see you back at the fore front of the sport in the future, but right now is recovery time. I look forward to seeing you at race meetings all over the country, but not as a competitor, or team manager (in the near future), but as Shaun, the gritty, determined little bastard who WILL recover and come back to the sport we all love.
The biggest step in the recovery process is to admit that there is something you cant control or dont know the answer to. You've done that. Now take the time to get better and come back to us, cause you have a shitload of experience to help our young riders with.
You and I have clashed a many times, but that does not reduce my respect
for you or your achievements. You have a lot to offer the sport. I hope that in the future you can continue to contribute to the sport.
Warren New
