Evening all,
We seem to have misplaced our cat. Saw him last night, and he has eaten during the day, but haven't seen him since we got home.
He is a domestic short hair named Jess. White all over (apart from a dirty mark on the back of his head, which I think is oil) and has a tattoo inside his left ear from being fixed in Australia.
AWOL from Henderson Valley Road (Pine Ave end, not Henderson end) some time today.
Miss Mully's brother hand raised him in Australia from an abandoned kitten, so as you can imagine, the brother is distraught.
He's an inquisative (read nosey) little bugger, so it's highly likely he is stuck in a shed or garage having gone exploring. I suspect he will be miaowing his head off as he hasn't had his dinner.
Can't really afford a reward until payday (next week) but any information leading to the capture of said cat will be rewarded with a slab, box or bottle of your favourite demon brew.
Any information, my cell is 021 579 517.
Cheers,
Marcus

Good luck finding your beloved pet! I can understand how distraught you're probably feeling right now - my perfect little cat disappeared for five days and I only found her (locked in a neighbour's basement) two days ago! I spent five days on the verge of tears thinking she wasn't coming home again.
Keep persevering and maybe drop flyers in people's mailboxes? This helped me find my kitty.
All the best!

5 Days!! Gutted.
We are going to do the rounds tomorrow if he hasn't turned up.
We have rung the after hours vet, and they haven't heard anything about him. He is quite distinctive because of his tattoo.
Forgot to mention, he is wearing a red collar with a bell and a magnetic cat-door release on it.

Good luck on finding Jess. My old cat used to bugger off for 5 to 7 days at a time, not a nice feeling not knowing where the little turd went... :(

With this particular cat, it's very unusual for him not to be waiting for us when we get home. Certainly not long after as he usually wants his dinner. That's why I suspect he has got trapped somewhere.

Fingers and toes crossed, hope you find him soon. I know what you mean about your cat having set habits - you know when something is amiss. Here's hoping you'll find him safe and sound.

I hope Jess has turned up. One of our cats used to disappear for days on end while he hunted rabbits on the neighbouring farm. He would then casually stroll up the drive like he owned the joint and flop down on the kitchen floor, totally exhausted!
We got two kittens last year and one disappears all through the day but is always here during the night and in the mornings while the other one quite often goes out during the night and isn't seen until late morning. He is good at disappearing during the day and not turning up until late at night too, which worries the hell out of me. But so far they have always come home and if I go outside and call them they tend to turn up soon after.
Let us know if Jess has turned up.

Shit, I hadn't linked them all like that. Thanks for raining on my parade, Boomer.
I think I'll mosey over to the depressed thread then. Can depressed people mosey? Maybe I'll shuffle.

I saw a white cat covered in red paint sleeping next to a road up near there.
I kid, I kid.
She'll turn up they always do.
How old is he?

He's about 4 years old. I'm ignoring the red paint comment....
We're organising a neighbourhood search this evening (when we get home). Hopefully he'll either be at home when we get there, or we'll hear his miaowing during the door-to-door thing and be able to let him out. None of the local vets, SPCA, Animal Welfare, etc places have seen him, but he's on all their lists just in case.

I know just how you are feeling. Our cat went missing for 8 days, was a horrible time. If he went missing in the weekend he could possibly be locked in a neighbours garden shed, garage etc. We think this is what happend to our cat. Seen as he is particularly nosey he may he wandered in and got locked in. Maybe see if you can get your near neighbours to check around?
Have you tried looking on Trade Me in the Pets Lost and Found? Also there is a website www.petsonthenet.co.nz which has a big lost and found section for cats & dogs.
Good luck with your search

Hi all,
It seems Jess got hit by a car yesterday afternoon. He was picked up by a lovely lady and taken to her home in Green Bay for safekeeping until someone went looking for him.
Thanks for all the kind wishes and advice, and a giant Fuck You to the person who hit him and drove off.

That sucks dude! You always know when there's something wrong with your pet and you obviously knew eh! Sorry to be so blunt but was he killed?

Hi all,
Just re-read this and realised I was unclear above.
Yes, Jess was hit and killed sometime early Monday afternoon. The lady that picked him up said he wasn't there at lunchtime when she went past. She could tell he was looked after and wanted to make sure we got him back.
She also reported him to Henderson Valley Vet (about 500m down the road) as soon as she got him, who told us that they hadn't heard anything, so good work, you morons.
I guess he crossed the road one too many times.
Thanks from Miss Mully and her brother and myself to those offering condolences. I can't believe how cut up I am over a cat. As cats go, he was a nice one.
And if the motherfucker who hit him reads this; Karma will get you for not stopping, and you better hope Karma gets you before I get you. Accidents happen and he must have run onto the road, but you could have stopped you prick.

Oh Mully, so sad to hear about this.
I'm very impressed with the lady who picked him up and took him home, knowing you would be looking for him. Good on her - she did all the right things.
RIP Jess.

That is not the news I wanted to hear, so sad to hear that Jess was killed this way. Good on the lovely lady who looked after him for you, but I hope the mongel who hit him dies a horrible death. I could never leave an animal if I hit one, I would have to try and find the owner or at least take it to a vet.
We have someone's much-loved cat in our garden. It was run over near our place and the neighbours knew we had cats so they picked it up and placed it by our letterbox. It wasn't our cat and we rang everyone in the neighbourhood but no one knew where it had come from. It was a large grey cat in very good condition so I doubt it was a stray. We buried it in our garden under a tree even though it wasn't ours. That's what you do when you're an animal lover.
