Yeah it's good when that happens. It should be everyone's civic duty to warn out other motorists whether in a cage or on a bike. Last time I got pinged I parked up the road and warned everyone who came by.

I'm glad you lot think flashing to warn others of nearby cops, I flash my headlights mindlessly every quarter kilometer constantly, regardless of the proximty or otherwise of any cops, makes oncomming drivers paranoid and drive slower. :2thumbsup

This evening I got the flash from a car and a few minutes later hadn't seen the cop.
There was a row of traffic in front of me with a horse-float in front and I passed them once we got off the twisties and then slowed back down to 108kph and around the next corner was mr plod cruising along in the same direction :sweatdrop he hadn't seen me...
A slow next 20km though stuck at 100kph

I almost always flash to warm people of an impending speed trap. The way I see it, is it's similar to having a radar detector, which police supposedly support. So, whether I flash, or the person already has a detector, it's achieving the same thing, slowing the people down, so how can that be bad.
Well yeah, the cameras don't get the money from the ticket, but the money isn't the point, right?
I really appreciate people flashing me, especially if it's on the Motorway ;)

Whats the problem with my flashing? - you haven't been speeding have you?
'course when I DO see a cop I DON'T flash, makes it more exciting for the other motorists, keeps them on their toes and alert. :Police:

I have noticed an increase in the frequency of "flashing" lately, and also that a few local speed cameras been vandalised.

The other thing about flashing other motorists is that some folk go hard on the anchors and slow down to 70Kmh when warned. I don't believe you can be nicked for doing 70 in a 100 so why do people do that?

The ride through Ormonville , Weber , Wimbelton , Porongahau etc was fantastic on Friday. I want to go back again , those roads are almost as good as the Coromandle loop with almost no traffic , got to be good .

Sorry I missed the ride with you. :confused2 Bloody work. :angry2: Went to Palmy on .Saturday Kev was looking for a jacket. I wanted to get Phil Turnbulls to look a the front rotors on the Gixxer. :crybaby: . They are starting to clatter when riding as they are wearing in the area of the rivets. No problem at this stage. Wear due to hard braking when the bike was on the track. As I do not race it is not likely to become a problem ;) Oh yea :Punk: came over the Pahiatua track. :) What a ride. Kev tried to do at 45 km corner at 145... :Playnice: .. I can't talk I had a stoppy before that but not by choice. We had a great run and had lunch at Burglar Bills. Dam best feed in the country. Sorry I did not call you. I struggled to get away from work and Kev was almost going with out me. But I got to his place in the end. It would have been to slow a ride for you Dave :o

Whats the problem with my flashing? Yea, the idea of you naked is just down right scarey:sick:
Yes I "speed". On a open road with little or no traffic, the straight stretching out in front of me, "Roxanne" will happily purr along @ 70-80MPH (and she is still just cruising at that). If you want me to go to sleep on her then get me to ride at a constant 60MPH (just under 100KPM) on that same straight. This is why I am always happy to get Ruakaka/Waipu Straights behind me. Too many cops and cameras on too straighter road, and they wonder why there is a high dead toll on that stretch. People are nodding off:doh:

When do you stop 'flashing'?
I flash others for cameras and cops too, but how far up the road do you go before its too far? 2km? 10km? untill you get home?
I appreciate getting flashed, but a little miffed if there is nothing there...
So, what do you do?

Always flashed ever since radar came onto the roads. Got pulled up by the MOT a few years back. Dipstick reckened I was 'obstructing the course of justice.' Smart ass sod that I was/am?? told him that as he was unable to determine if an offence had been commited how could I have obstructed the course of justice??. Gave me a right going over for about twenty minutes.

Nope, not illegal (else I would have been busted about a quadzillion times eh?).
All cops know that flashing takes place and it's one of the "hazards" of trying to catch people speeding.
BTW, It's amazing how many people stopped for speeding nave no WOF, rego, are disqualified, have Warrant to Arrest etc etc.

Well, that's just dum-diddly dandy Mr Dog. But have you considered that drivers flash for hazards other than a mobile cash register up ahead, And if your brand of highway socialism catches on, people will ignore the flashers. Just back in July, a car flashed me to warn me of a biker down around a blind corner on SH16.
Keep up the good work though, if you stop all the speeding you'll save about 30 lives all over NZ.

Have you ever considered that if drivers flashed ONLY when there WAS a hazard (bike down etc) people WOULD slow down instead of glancing at their speedo and thinking "I'm only doing 105, no need to slow down for the cop" and carrying on around the next bend into whatever awaits? :pinch:
Just my thoughts as I flash my way merrily around the country ;)

Call me old fashioned, but - if I'm flashed, I immediately go on to full alert for ANY hazard ahead - be it speed trap, patrol car (most common), road incident or whatever! Just sems like common sense to me.

ALl my vehicles always have wof and warrent, my brother crashed one of my old bikes so was riding my brothers one day, no wof and no warrent, and i get pulled over, problem being i didn't have a liecence at the time either, this was a good 10 years ago, 28 days to get them all so i did no fine woo hoo.
If ya can't afford to keep vehicle above wof standard you shouldn't be riding/driving it.

Ah yes! you have spotted one the positive sides of my job, you can also include that I can ride/drive as fast as I want without getting a ticket, don't need a w.o.f. on my vehicles, can drive drunk without worry etc. etc.....
