OK, seeing as so many were offended by the Ugly Italian Naked Bike poll, here's a chance to "get even". Below are the upcoming naked "uglies" from 4 manufacturers for 2008, with one current model. That's what we'll start with.

Yuck, yech, eeoo, puke, vomit, Seems to me theyre all trying way too hard & they all look the same, but then, my heads still in the 70,s when REAL BIKES like Kwaka 900's,CB750's & GS750's ruled :not:

Never thought I'd say it but I like the look of the Honda

Well, I've always liked the Z1000, but not in that white, Honda have made a nice looking bike with the CB1000R, very aggressive, same with the Hyosung GT650X.
My favorite is the MT-03, mainly because I'm a single fan and it looks different. =)
That just leaves the B-King, which is let down hugely by those exausts. =(

The MT-03 is very cool and the Hyosung is hot! The B-King needs exhausts but apart from that is nicely butch.
The other two need to go in a skip. After being torched.

They're all ugly... Itai, Japanese, Korean... they've all lost the plot. Best looking bikes came from 1993, CBR900RR, RGV250, ZXR750... classic shapes that look as good in the flesh as they did in the mags.
One thing I've noticed (and noted on here before) is that the new bikes almost always photograph crap... you've really got to see them in the flesh before condemning them.

When it comes to naked bike design, I think that this will be known as the decade of the copycats.
They all look the same. The Italians and the Jappas.
I look at the photos and I hear the echo in my mind of endless board meetings with hapless designers being told, "Make it look like that MV Aug... Agoo... that Italian thing that sells well!"
Triumph were on the right track with the Thruxton. I'd love it if one of the Jap brands came out with a tight and tidy cafe racer.

Yep, I'd agree with you Dan.
I feel a little disappointed by the Suzuki design...They came out so very agressively on top with the SV's design in 2003, but haven't really done anything Avant Guarde since...
I'm not at all fond of the new exhaust triangualr shape thingy either...find it quite ugly actually...
However, I think that Honda has managed to make it flow somehow in a nicer fashion than the other brands version...
I'm definitely getting a bike with a fairing next... (675 Daytona )

I liked the look of the Yamaha MT-01, but the 03 is pretty ugly. The Suzuki BBKing was on display at Big Boys Toys and in the flesh it actually looks pretty good. Personal opinions of course and we all know everyone has different tastes.

Yeah I likes the MT-01 too apart from the headlight, would have been better if Yamaha had stuck a FZ1N headlight on it.

The exhaust designers are having a shocker!
The yammie isn't too bad though, and I'd have the Zed with a custom can.

Exactly. $3k of Ohlins bits and $200 in brake lines & pads and you would've bought a stock SV650 with the total expenditure. I know what I'd rather have.

It is. I've done the pricing. You've yet to convince me... I can buy a brand new SV650 for $9995 plus orc (http://motorcycletrader.co.nz/UsedItemDetails.aspx?N=4294967095+4294967018+0&item=10222&sid=1165D681E6C5). Therefore, you're telling me that I'm going to be able to guy the GT650X for $6795 (9995 - 3000- 200) when the GT650R is $9995. Not gonna happen  I'd even hazard a guess that they'll try and get $9995 for the X model too.

In 30 odd years of riding bikes i have never seen anything as ugly as the B-King,i often pondered how they could build something as ugly as a Busa but compared to that gathering of everything ugly the busa looks like a princess.

I just don't get this whole naked "street fighter" look. Apart from the Hyosung, (which looks a bit like a Ducati)... all the rest look totally wank to me.
It's like they are designing them for 15 year-old adolescents that pull themselves too much.

It's surprising how much they look like the Euro counterparts except using beam or convential frames and IL4s (Mr Korea excepted).
They must use the same stylists, surely.
