:Punk:I'm starting to fall for V-twins again...man this bike it hooooooooooooTTTT :headbang:

Bimota's recently introduced DB7 is powered by Ducati's 1098 superbike engine and features all of the expected artistic and functional designs of this exclusive marque. Here is Bimota's description of the stunning new DB7.

Engine
At the heart of the new Bimota DB7 is the Ducati 1098 Testastretta Evoluzione engine. Powerful, and light, it generates the kind of power that excites the heart with each twist of the throttle, yet its linear power delivery allows entering and exiting turns fast - a confidently controlled experience.

Frame
The DB7 introduces a new hybrid oval tube trellis frame that utilizes lightweight machined plates in its design. The same engineering solution is used in the unique rear swingarm for a package that not only delivers rigidity and predictable handing, but also lends a harmonized technical look to the bike.

Suspension
The innovative rear suspension links the swingarm directly to the engine and employs an advanced Extreme Tech rear shock developed in cooperation with Bimota. The fully adjustable shock attaches to the SPB (Bimota progressive system) progressive linkage system, for maximum control and traction in the corners. The rear suspension is offset to the right side, allowing space for the rear cylinder exhaust system.

Upper and lower fork crowns are billet machined and mount fully adjustable Marzocchi Corse forks with 43 mm sliders with DLC (diamond like coating) treatment for smooth and predictable reaction to the tarmac.

Wheels, Brakes and Body
The alloy forged wheels are built specifically for Bimota design and are some of the lightest most torsionally rigid produced in the world. The powerful front brakes utilize twin 320 mm discs and radially mounted Brembo four pad four piston callipers. On the back a floating 230mm disc matches to a Brembo 2 piston calliper.

The top fairing is formed of structural carbon fiber and supports the instruments and headlamp, eliminating the need for a separate subframe. The rear tail section is also made of structural carbon fiber and also benefits from the same elimination of a separate subframe. Combined they significantly reduce the overall weight of the bike.

The digital instrument panel combines analog and digital readouts. The unit records 20 lap times, and top speed each lap.

The narrow fuel tank, with a capacity of 26 liters, has been sculpted to be extremely thin between the legs and matches perfectly the seat to maximise rider control and comfort. With a seat height of only 800mm, riders of all heights can enjoy the performance of the DB7.

Combine all of the DB7 innovations and you have a bike that weighs-in at an incredible class leading 170 kgs.

The DB7 bristles with fine CNC machined details including the rear frame plates, engine mounts foot rests, rear swingarm sections, chain adjuster plates and both clutch and front brake levers.

The new DB7 charms the heart by combining characteristic Bimota style cues with uncompromised attention to details and unparalleled fit and finish.

The DB7 is staged to add new definition the 1000cc Super bike category

Yep, that sure is a tasty treat.
I've always liked Bimotas. My all time fave to own would be a carbed vdue, the 500 two stroke twin. The injected ones were disasters. When Bimota went bust that time, a private company bought the incomplete 500's, put carburetors on them and wallah! Instant weapons sighhhhh

Look at that profile! It's... it's... it's a 2008 CBR1000RR (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/199497/images/2008hondafirebladered.jpg)...

I've never really been a fan of Bimotas.

I'm not sold ...

No.

Sorry, that's just not an attractive bike in my books. Different, striking, but not what I'd call gorgeous.

Does in come blue/white?

Yep very nice, but Bimota will go bust (again) in a few years and obtaining parts will be a fucker. Then a few years after that you'll be able to buy a new one for less than a GSXR.

You'd go to Ducati for 1098 parts wouldn't you?

Agreed.

Just the general shape, in profile. Compare the two and you'll see what I mean.

"This motorcycle utterly confounds me."

"We have the instruction manual for it."

"Coyote is standing on it."

Agreed, at least the headlights are. No doubt the headlight arrangement/config is much more compact than current units.

The tail would be a similar shape in silhouette, the front is different though. The Bimota is a far better looking bike, the CBR has tried to look like the 1098 but still trying to be different and original and it failed to look good doing so.

"Man why you even got to do a thing"

I concur, it just doesn't rock my casbah. I mean, its pointy and all, but it just doesn't do it for me...

No, it lacks the muscular appearance up front of the RC8 and fails to nail the ultra-light high tail streetfighter look in the rear.

On the whole the styling just doesn't push my buttons, it looks like it's trying to be different just for the sake of it while still following the 2008 trends of the big brands.

Still, it's a very personal thing, no two people ever see the looks of a motorcycle in quite the same way. F'rinstance, the 1098 doesn't do it for me nearly as hard as it seems to for most.

I like it even though I don't like the headlights and indicator/mirrors (or the exhaust but that's an easy fix). Always like bimota's, especially the Tesi (now Vyrus) just cos it was so different and an attempt at mass producing engineering purity.

i love it. and the ktm.
have always prefered straight hard clean lines to soft flowing ones.
i can't wait till car design moves away from their current bubble aesthetic-someone keeps dialing up the "melt" button in CAD. as it is i have to keep buying cars from the 80's to avoid the ovoid ;) maha

dare i say it ,i know i might be committing social suicide here but..... :blank: i think the front of that bike looks like a....... hyosung..... eg the stacked lights ,but obviously its more likely the other way round being the hyosung copying the designs of the DB7.

Except the current Hyosungs, that have been around for the last four years or so, were themselves copied from the Ducati 999/749 stable.
