View Full Version : Wellybodies - can anyone check out a scooter in Karori?

We're going to add a scooter to our stable of bikes. :scooter: We're looking forward to having a great little commuter for the summer, and the Volty is looking forward to being the 'senior' bike!

Can anyone take a look at a particular scooter in Karori for us? You will be compensated for your time at the current rate - which I believe is a box of beer or other tipple of your choice.

Basically we need someone to take a look at it, chat to the owner about any issues it might have, start it up, and ideally take it for a quick test ride to make sure all the bits do what they're meant to do.

Please reply here or send me a PM if you can help.

Hey!! I live in Krackerville... I can't say I know too much about these sort of things but I may be willing to cast at least one of my lazy eyes over it...

I can help you out Col, for a fee. Duh, I mean, free.

Thanks Col, you are hereby nominated as official scooter-checker-outer! You may be assisted by Mr Skunk at your discretion.

Awww at times like this I love KB and its weird inhabitants

Just 'cos I'm sure you've all been wondering (not). Colapop did the inspection and found all much as promised, after a wee haggle I bought the scoot and had BikeTranz fetch it up for me. Quite strange seeing a bike / scoot for the first time after you have bought it! The wee beastie now has a new set of tyres (as expected), and tomorrow is off to the doctors for front wheel bearings and a service (a bit of rumble from the bearings spotted by the tyre guy; the service a standard practice when I buy anything 'new'.) So all in all I'm a happy camper, and looking forward to leaving the car at home a lot more. Thanks to Col and others who offered!

I was gonna call and check out what happened...

You'll look sooo good doing the shopping on that puppy! So much storage space too... And if you're anything like the previous owner you can take your missus for a weekend to Hamiltron on it! (You know you wanna - you romantic old sausage!)

So...what was it that you actually bought?

A Burgman?

(Best lady whatshername out of Importance of Being Ernest voice)

Not exactly what I'd call "a great little commuter"

What's the going rate for transport of a bike from Wellers to Auck?

the 250 version is a great little commuter.

the 250 version is a great little commuter.

Not too shabby for a commuter but still a big ride for a commuter, would be a little difficult splitting lanes wouldn't it?

Just guessing as I haven't ridden one but have seen plenty of them up close and personal (including yours...):shifty:

Ha ha didn't realise that we hadn't said what it was (after all a scooter's just a scooter isn't it?)

It's a 180cc Piaggio Hexagon in subtle silver  and the boot is ginormous! Christmas shopping, here we come! And it is definitely both an excellent commuter and a comfy two-up ride.

Dave's favourite feature so far is the "interphone reset button." He has no idea what it does.

The interphone reset button restores the transdemensional portal settings to allow you to phone home.... Dial 0 for the operator...

And, when you get bored of it, you can do this to it (that's sometime KB'er fast135 btw):

And it does 15sec on the 1/4 mile at merere

How does that compare with your slightly tweaked runner?
