:Police: Yesterday I asked some of you guys some exhaust related questions and one about birds but I didn't explain why.Thats because it would be a rant. here is that rant! In england it's the crime of the century to have non standard pipes or small number plates,The nazis can be seen at most bike meets chekin exhausts for european approval stamps and measuring number plates. One of the highest serious crime rates in the world so they fill their crime stats books up with bikers who's numberplates are 2mm to small.
You may think this is sour grapes but you'd be wrong I have never been pulled for such a thing.:angry2:but it is so bloody wrong. bikers and speeding car drivers, safety my arse, just easy targets, get the money punish the mostly law abiding but don't catch the bastard that killed an old lady in my street for a bag of chips and 30pence.Don't turn up when you've had your bike nicked,Don't even attend minor road accidents, cause thier to busy measuring number plates somewhere.:argh:
You wana judge a society look at it's police force,In Britain police are,in general, inefective, corrupt, pompus money grabbin Bastards, IN MY OPINION.

whats yours like boys n girls? :calm: :2guns::Police::thud:

If you are that passionate about the issue then become a politician or an activist and make a contribution to the positive change in our society.

However, I am guessing that you're not really that passionate about it and even if you were, given time the world of politics and activism would corrupt your opinion.

It's a lost cause, worry about how many woman you have sex with before you die, it's really the only thing you'll regret on your death bed, in my opinion anyway.

Repost? I haven't seen it. So in that case, it negates any repost-osity, m'lud.

I like the po-po here, though a)it concerns me about younger and younger people joining, with lower standards to boot. Perhaps got something to do with the low pay compared to other jobs they could get, and the lack of power they have to prosecut certain things, such as the joke that is "Youff Court" and anything to do with Family matters. and b)Mr Plod mates have told me policing now is not "challenging but rewarding" like it used to be, but more pointless and petty.

Must be a better policeforce now Clit Rickards and the like have been weeded out.

Genuinely sorry if you've heard it all before, not been on kb very long, no design and no intention just needed to vent my spleen, remembering injustices of the past and wondered if you guys are fellow sufferers. Don't share, thats cool, it benefits me not if people want to type pages of peeves on this thread or think as you do,that this is intentionally designed to draw an impassioned response, join in or don't but allow me to let off steam if I wanna.I shall withdraw the invitation from the bottom of the original post and leave it as a simple beef about the tendency of the British police to ride roughshod over the rights and feelings of predominantly decent and moral people just because there easy targets.I thought people would enjoy ruminating over the behaviour of police forces towards towards bikers abroad and wanted to hear the state of play in NZ. I'm an admirer of your contributions to KB jim2 and am affronted that you judge me to be so shallow, just ignorant of whats gone before.what a fecker I am eh.

No dramas, but we're aware of the headless corpse pictures as well.

We have cops on the site who are good people, first and foremost, and it gets really tiresome for them (and some of us) to have this message posted over and over. Rant about a specific case all you want, but make sure you have your facts right.

A general anti-pigs rant is a little unfair.

OH MY GOD - The NZ Police... where do I start????

OK - they're a diverse bunch of people, pretty much like you'd meet in any employee group. There are tall ones, short ones, one with egos, ones who enjoy power trips but mostly they're there to do the job the best they can under the driections they were handed from above.

The job they do is a losing one - i.e. don't care what they do their main visbility is handing out warnings, notices, tickets and enforcing rules than have been broken. As a result they're not ever really going to be painted in a good light generally, despite the fact they do a job that I wouldn't want to.

They're underpaid, under-resourced, work some socially awkward hours, are constrained by the letigious dictates of the courts and absolutely must have every little thing tied down if they should ever have to take something through court of the lying little shits they're trying to protect the rest of us from will walk out on some inane technicality.

And I've personally never had a problem with them.

Does that answer the question? I hope so coz I have one of my own. Why did a complaint about the UK Police asking "what's it like over there" come out of New Plymouth? Sounds like someone wanting to stir the pot to me...

All good mate - glad to hear this ia somewhat qualified thread and not simply an excuse "bash the bastards" as we've had far too many of those.

Just so you know - I may be a bit of a goodie two shoes according to some but I'm happy with the cops personally (can you tell). There will be opinions both ways on this of course... but cop bashing turned into a sport around here a while ago and it annoyed the snot out of me.

I had a call from a police officer up north this morning. An acquaintance of mine got nicked shooting on a farmer's property without permission, it would seem.

Again. Dumb bugger.

And they're sorting it out.

The NZ Police do a lot of hard work behind the scenes to keep things straight in this country, and my impression has always been that the vast majority of them are good honest sorts who are doing their best at a mucky job for very average pay.

Any political party that pledges significant pay rises for cops will get my attention at the next election.

Last attempt and I'm done. In my opinion and drawn from my experience your brothers in the uk get a raw deal from over zealous policing. if you think that hundreds of police, riot waggons and helicopters are a justified representation at an erstwhile friendly peaceful Sunday afternoon bikers gathering, cool. If you think an exhaust that meets noise regs but isn't stamped c/e approved, warrants a day in court,a fine and points on your license is fair, when you can steel a car and walk free from court,ok.

Not my experience, bro'. Sounds like you've had a real rough run, but that doesn't match my experience of the police in the UK at all.

Went to plenty of races, and all they ever seemed to be doing was making sure that people kept it sane and got out of the event as smoothly as possible. Got pulled (or had police attend the scene) a few times and never got done for an illegal plate or noisy exhaust, despite usually carry at least one of the two. I've had speeding tickets downgraded or waived, as well as a failure to produce (I got done for speeding on a bike I'd just bought that had no MoT or tax.)

And I've had the same deal here: no dramas, reasonable treatment. Hell, even the renowned Wellington traffic wardens let me off that $200 "failure to display" ticket when I produced my documentation. Yes, I have finally learned my lessons, and that's good policing IMHO.

Might just be one man's good luck against another's bad, and maybe the truth lies between. I heard plenty of bitching when I lived in the UK and I've heard plenty over here, but I've yet to feel the effects of either. Touch wood.

Yip,maybe. The evil actually refers to bludgeoning desperate women from horseback during the miners strike, but I've upset enough people today and it's got nothing to do with bikes anyway. thanks for your opinion.

My dad was a Policeman during said miners strike and whatever was dished out by the Police was nothing by comparison to the beating the boys in blue took every single day they stood on the front line.

I remember my dad coming home black and blue, day after day. Battered and bruised, only to be sent back out the next day and the next...and so on. And he's a BIG man who could more than hold his own at that time. I had no sympathy for the miners or their supporters back then and I maintain that stance to this day, having seen the REAL shit they gave out, not the media-spun version.

Most Policemen and women are good sorts who carry out the thankless job of maintaining a bit of law and order. We forget that the traffic divisions are separate to the general Police force and so have a different focus. Someone in Traffic would no more respond to a domestic incident than a Policeman would repsond to a call to put out a fire.

I've seen the general focus of the Police change over the years (more so in the UK since I have more experience of over there than I do of over here), but so much of that is due to staff shortages. They do the best with what they have.

Yes, there's money-making from roadside checks and countless speeding tickets. And yes, there is little attendance at, or interest given to, petty crimes (such as car crime). And yes, maybe they could be diverting those money-making resources into tackling more crime, but hey, how can we sit here and judge when we have no idea what the personnel guys have to work with?

Maybe it's because I was brought up to respect the Police, but my respect has never waned over the years. I still maintain if you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear or to hide, and if something is done to you, there WILL be someone there to help. Until I'm proven wrong - personally - the Police are OK in my book.

As Dave said to me the other day - it's only the presence of the Police that stops him taking a baseball bat to the next boy-racer car to mmm-pish its way at speed down our street.....! (and I can't say I was able to disagree with the sentiment!) Thank the lord there's some law and order left in this world! LOL
