Big thanks to the Cliff Hanger Crew. It was a great weekend and I learned heaps. Koba and Limbintimwin fought tooth and nail for the fastest 400 bragging rights while I observed from a safe distance. The highlights for me were the battles between the SV650s (Sully, Deano:first: and Mark); and Drew and Jay's:first: scrap over the crown. Such tension and it was great to so close to it. I will be back next year for sure.

What a great weekend.

Had a blast taking photos, some are good. Will post a few next week (need sleep now)
I also enjoyed working on the timing system, was interesting being close to the results as they came in and how the riders were reacting.

Well done everyone that rode, the volunteers and the organisers. It really is a great show.

I'm guessing you've already heard, but for everyone else;

Jay and Drew both smashed Warren Turner's old record of 2.13s.....Jay with 2.09.684s and Drew 2.10.035s. This despite a not so perfect road surface on three corners.

It was an interesting and at times very frustrating job being on the timing.... (now I know why the timing ladies always seem to be grumpy bitches! Sorry for being grumpy everyone but that was some pressure at times!) . AND by half way through Sunday I must say I was jealous as all hell at times watching all the riders come back into the pits amped up and grinning like mad things.

Luckily I had the best company to help keep me sane! It was a pleasure getting stressed out with you Trudy and you can be my cackle partner anytime

Between the two of us, ably assisted by Nigel (who was able to fix up some of the kinks for us and take over as needed and for being an at times calming influence) we managed to get the times all into the system and though these needed to be converted into seconds first we managed to get results in and reports spitting out at us on the printer (Sunday) by the time all the bikes were back in the pitts back. A few wee glitches in the system never quite had us getting everyone's results up for display but we knew who they were and were able to provide the handwritten timing for them direct....not sure why the PC didn't like your results Danny but sounds like these minor problems are all fixable so well done to Gary for getting that system sorted out! I can't say I would have enjoyed it so much if it was just all handwritten and worked out manually and all that.....there'd be a few more grey hairs on me I'd say!

Anyway - it was a great weekend and no doubt the Monster crew will be back next year....think I'll have to take MY bike out myself next time...

And on behalf of me and Sully if anyone has a fuel injected SV650 to give away - Sully is the man to give it to. But a respectable result on a bke that was thrown together on the Friday night including critical pieces of his 'over protective' wifes machine..."be sure to bring that back to me in one piece darling"....with that hanging over his head I think he did quite well and he certainly seemed to be enjoying himself!

Oh and BABE - THANKS FOR THE NEW SUSPENSION DARLINK

For those of you that I tracked (you all know who you are) I'll flick you your run times via PM.

Well done everyone!!
Was great to watch and hear you all from the timing station taking off on your runs and returning amped and grinning each time. Sorry if I told any of you to F off, we were a little bit stressed and trying to do our best for you all making sure your times were correct before posting them up, promise we'll try to be more like the "well oiled machine" we were starting to become by the end of Sunday. It was wicked to see you all becoming faster as the day went on and also the friendly competition between riders to take out certain classes, very entertaining!! Glad you all had fun!

Edit: On a personal note.... A Huge Big Thank You to the lovely Number one, couldn't have done the timing with out you doll, you saved my sanity!!! And thanks to Carolyn too, you had this innate ability to appear just when we were in need of someone to lend us a hand and just do what needed doing without needing to be asked and hand-held, thank you SO much!!!

Fuckin awesome weekend!!! Great to hang out with everyone, soo many people to thank for help so I'll do a report sometime soon.

Just had my times pmed to me, and after lunch on Saturday, the guy at the top taking all the info down still thought bikes were starting at 30 second intervills, I was second to run, and posted a time of 2m38.9s

Anybody care to do some maths?:weep:

I maybe shouldn't have kept making drastic changes to my rear suspension to try and find traction.

Mooch
17th March 2008, 15:53
On the up side I got a time of 2:16 with the timing at 30 seconds. That was a 40 second improvement on my last round which would have made me biggest improver. I fessed up and told them that in no way would I ever be able to do that kind of time.

Only if it miraculously picked itself up off the floor and put it's own suspension and wheels on!

That was the "in" joke from Saturday, you had to be there. The butt of that joke did take it well I must say.

F3 was a hard fought battle (mine is a pro twin spec too by the way)
So mine was the actually the first F3 bike bike since you and Skidda were racing pro-twins?

It was a fanTAZtic day. Thanks to all the helpers as it couldn't be done without you.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the great biker community attitude there.

As for the computer program, it was the first time we used it at the Hill climb so we did have a few Technichal issues and I apologise for those. I will be working on getting those fixed up.

A huge thank you to Mrs Kendog for running the computer program for me so I could enter :D , to Numberone for helping Mrs Kendog with the timing and to Kendog (Mr) for all his technical help with some issues that he sorted out. I had a fanTAZtic day thanks to your help and support.

I would like to also thank Dina and Garry for letting me stay at their's.

Deano, what can I say all the work he puts in behind the seans on these events is amazing and on top of that he wins 2 classes. Thank you and well done mate.

Thanks to you all for coming along and making it the event it was. I am very proud to be involved and to know so many of you.

If any of you have any suggestions for the timing program please PM me and I will see what I can do. I am going to be running through things with the Kendogs to see how we can make things better but all suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Taz

Mate - all I can say is that many people doing a little can achieve great things.

This event and the sprints have really taken off over the past two years.

The computer timing programme developed by Kitty O'Shea's owner and yourself, the sponsors for getting behind the event, and all the people that help out on the day. It's just great to be a part of it.

I really enjoyed the comraderie that developed between the racers over the two days - I'm getting a bit soppy now (ghey) but I ride a Honda so it's ok.

A perfect open door to suggest more people get involved in the organising of said event.

Many minds will make light work of expanding the whole thing, to a televised even! (Even in second spot I would have gotten some coverage).

This was indeed a most excellent adventure ! Isn't adrenaline great ?
I will have to go to some track days to learn how to go round corners.
At least this year my top speed was slightly faster than the winners average speed :-)

Welcome to the site mate. There are a few of us planning on doing some training, but it will probably be like me joining a gym. I'll do it tomorrow.

It was a fanTAZtic day. Thanks to all the helpers as it couldn't be done without you.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the great biker community attitude there.

If any of you have any suggestions for the timing program please PM me and I will see what I can do.
