View Full Version : Taranaki: Pritch n Janno's fabulous birthday weekend January 12/13th.

So, the old fart is getting older, and I'm just coming in to my prime. Having b'days three days apart means we thought a birthday ride through some Taranaki back roads would be the go on Saturday. Then park up, partake in multitudinous beverages, eat far too much and talk a load o'shite.

This is an open invite to anyone and everyone who feels like coming along. New Plymouth is stunning at this time of year so you out of towners who feel like proving to yourselves that there is a mountain, now's your chance! Plenty of bed space to be had, and we are half way between Wellington and Auckland, so don't be shy.

Suitable present for Pritch - either a zimmer frame or a nubile, willing dancing girl in a g-string, haven't worked out which yet.

Suitable present for me - Lotto ticket and or chocolate, the darker the better. Milk chocolate is for gurlz . . .

Hope you can make it, especially those of you whom I had the pleasure to meet on the Wellington Cheesecutter ride.

Jan.

Excellent, ladies!

Have absolutely no friggin idea what we are going to do yet, Pritch n I will be having a planning session tomorrow, methinks.

But ride somewhere Saturday, lunch, ride back to base. About 3-400km in total should be nice and easy for everyone. Then Saturday night have a relaxing and rather alcoholic dinner somewhere nice but not too expensive, or else fall back on the good old barbecue.

I'm making a huge chocolate mud cake for afters. You only have to look at it and you go up a size, but tastes divine.

Open to suggestions . . .

Easy on the "old" there.Wasn't that long ago I thought the folks were old at 40,shit gone past that.Seriously though,I have a 2 room tent, last years birthday pressie and still a virgin, might have to put it up sober,so suggest maybe the week before lol, could drop off in car day before?Sleeps about 45 by size of it.Get lots of porta loos.

As for ride, how about 30 min spin up North Egmont then back to base, more drink time:bash:

Also sounds really naff but the bowl could have some reasonable sounds going with the lights in park, for those that haven't seen them an option, then maybe really hit the piss.

Restaurant choice is huge too,or bbq,but then that means some bugger has to play chef, bbq next day good idea when hungover.Memo to self take monday off.

Oooh, yes, forgot about that. Strolling through the Pukekura lights is compulsory summer fun in New Plymouth. And they are really cool - but don't go to the black light area if you have dandruff.

I was thinking about $25 per head or under for dinner, hopefully that'll be within everyone's price range. When we get more of an idea of numbers I'll talk to one of the yummy local bistros and see what they can do for us.

Not bad, must have been the fact I wasn't cooking, did my time fixing the fence, bastard kids of Als neighbourhood.

Took a while to work out why the plate wasn't heating up on sunday, bloody dumb idea you need gas in bottle.

Forgotten highway best done going to event or incorporated into it,not great if hungover.

Will sort out a good cafe for you to have a break when coming through.

As soon as a job is got, know of any lol,can attach doors to furniture and kitset entertainment cabinets with ease lol.Have a couple of applications in pipeline.

Wasn't too worried about selling house as my bank manager suggested with influx of oil workers rent would be easy to get around $275.Covers most of bills required, had a mate to look at the place and will rent it,but then offered the wife a great price, might sell,(make over 75000)if that happens can buy a home in Palmy, and enjoy the wife working as she thinks she has a job, recruitement agency rang last week thinking she was in Palmy asking her to start the next day,if sold could take at least sixmonths off and still pay mortgage, damn that sounds good.Nah spent9 months off work with cancer and that sucked, only good part was radiation in Palmy for 6-8 weeks, hence we enjoyed the place then and still do,so reason why want to live there.

looks like my plans might have to change... it doesnt look like im going to make the ride on saturday am, which sucks ass. highly unlikely ill get anyone to cover. i finish at 2, which means itll be 4 by the time i get there. mega suck. :pinch:

5th January 2008, 14:36
I'd say you might miss part of the ride, maybe depends where they go to,say they do reverse of round the mountain, via mokau, awakino, whanga, then through stratty, maybe go round coast to NP,that would mean maybe in Hawera say 3 ish or so,that would enable you to join in and do the surf highway part, shit if I work that could be good idea too.Even if you leave at 2ish,we could go with you to NP,as said might have to work.

5th January 2008, 15:11

Well, guys, galivantings and celebrations are off. The boffins are playing around with my meds at the moment, the result being I feel about as exciting as a cup of cold sick.

So no riding, celebrating or copious quantities of chocolate for moi . . . Pritch may or may not still do a ride, I dunno as yet.
