So I had my office x-mas party (good 'ole 80's theme) where everyone was dressed to varying degrees of gay and stupid, as you do for a themed x-mas party.
A good time had by all and the majority of us catch a bus back to the shop where we make our way back to our respective houses from there, myself and two others jump off a bit early in newmarket and proceed to try flag down a cab.
In doing so we approach a cab who has just pulled up at the traffic lights, as he's facing the wrong direction he informs us that he'll pull a u'ie and pick us up. The lights go green and he just heads off, no u'ie, no picking us up.... maybe had something to do with the cop car waiting at the lights :whocares:
So we run across in time for the good 'ole copper roos to get the green and what should happen but the red and blue lights!!!
So we're thinking great we're getting done for j-walking, of all crimes.... lets go rob something quick... we're greeting with "You folks need a lift or something, my partner is doing some driver training"
After hooning along the streets at 70-80 km/h LEGALLY we find ourselves back home in a flash.
I don't care what anyone says, coppers are good guys and if they gotta do the shite, it's only because they have to.
(did I mention I was wearing a shirt with rainbows, flowers and hearts and an affro at the time, also one of the coppers seemed to be interested when the topic of bikes came up :p)
/end drunken drivel

Did you guys start off in Parnell? Saw a huge crowd of gay and stupid (no Yungatart, gayer and stupider than the usual Aucklanders) people wandering around in 80s garb.
That's hilarious :D Driver training -- bullshit -- bet they just wanted a hoon ^_^

With the description of those shirts they were probably hoping for some group sex....

Funny that you can write a nice post about coppers and how helpful they were - and you get a couple of replies. Post something about a copper being so rude as to give you (well not you personally but you know what I mean) a ticket for doing 140km with all your awesome riding skillz, and you get 6 pages of dribble:jerry:.
Nice to read a positive post for once!

Huh? Did I say Aucklanders were gay and stupid?
Most of the ones I've met seem fairly straight and reasonably intelligent (maybe lacking in common sense, but you can't have everything, right?)
....but I guess there's a lot I haven't met yet??

I remember back in the day when I was in the RNZN on one of my few (or many) drunken runs ashore.
I jumped in the back of a taxi, (well more of a crawl but...) and said "Navy Base please..." and proceeded to full asleep... as one does in that state
Being woken by the the duty Officer of the Day, saying "Come lad... Thank you officer we will look after him from here..." also hearing "oh fuck whats he done this time..." I turned my head and looked at my Taxi... and remember thinking "fancy that... a taxi with pretty red and blue lights, and the driver in his work uniform, I have to wear a uniform to... sort sux don't it..." then saying saying to the OoD "Pay the man... I'll make it up to you in the morning"

Love 'em or hate them, they sure earn their money at this time of year.

probably because at this time of the year people think it's ok to go out drunk-driving or speeding when it's clearly unsafe.
I'm probably still sour about the guy driving into me... to learn later he had just come from down the road where there was a pub (dead end road)

Nice? OOOhhh I see - yes I recognise sarcasm.....
Regardless of the job / profession there will always be one or two that ruin the image for the whole lot. Kind of like saying that ALL bikers ride at speed from pub to pub isn't it?
Well I for one would like to give a huge thanks to all cops (and others that work within our crappy NZ Justice system) everywhere.:first:
The majority of our 'boys in blue' do a damn fine job whilst trying to retain a sense of humour working amongst the largely negative strata of NZ society.
The thankless NZ public continually nips at their heels for daring to try and uphold our shitty NZ laws and trying to make the place a better place for us all.
Merry Xmas to all of you and your families :first::sunny:

Hehe, that reminds me of a very drunken outting in Nelson almost 4 years ago.
We had been dancing at a club and met some other folks who invited us over to their place after the club closed. We proceeded to drink considerable amounts of tequila and somewhere in the confusion the girl I had a good eye to managed to disappear.
Not to be deterred I set out on a random search of Nelson trying to find her and at least say goodnight and thanks for the dances... No chance of course, but persistance led me a couple of kilometers up the main road and when I finally gave up I couldn't be arsed walking back and tried hitching a ride back to town.
A car pulled over, it had a wicked paint job and some bling bling lights on the roof. A hot blonde in a uniform in the passenger seat and her partner seemed like a good fella too.
They asked me what I was doing in the middle of the road at 4 am - and I said it had to be pretty obvious that I was trying to hitch a ride... and since you've stopped anyway, could you give me a lift in towards the centre of town.
Sure they could, good sorts, we chatted and they dropped me off 200 meters from the tequila party... YAY! :D
