Was a great night, made it nicely into town to do the thing, I went along with the crowd going to Greta, via Weka pass. Was a good value feeding and watering.

Me bike was very happy, I think it was very pleased with the lettuce that it had been fed a couple of days ago. (in other words the couple of bits of CF) I am sure she just wanted to up and go, had to pull back on her reins.

24 degrees up yonder, and only dropping back through Amberly back to Rangiora to 15 degree. Still very summerish. Bloody 5km of shingle home sucked, Freshly graded and the bike realy felin like it was flip floppin all over the place. All good fun.

The pictures below... I did not abuse my camera tonite, just a couple of shots.

1-Parked Greta
2-2nd Park Greata
3-Takin a look under the lid where the lid is stored :eek5:
4-3rd Great Park up
5-1/2 the group yappin
6-Pit stop road side to Moon shot......

Thankyou people.

A great evening tootling about, thanks girls and guys. Just need to set to work replacing the plastic bits on the scooter removed by the vacuum created as I was passed by a myopic R1.

Was a great night.

One group headed off to Doversher? The rest of us (ie all the cool people) headed up north to Greta Valley.

It was an awesome ride and plenty of fun was had by all. Atleast those that went north anyway.

To those guys on the smaller 250's, Casualty and the guy with a seat for a tank and a tank for a helmet holder, how did you guys go getting back into town. I know things would have been close for Casualty. How much gas did you have left seat for a tank guy? I know you got back to town because you carried on past me when I turned off Papinui road.

:stupid:

My boot is so 1337...

I have a pretty poor fuel economy and range (I think the worst or close out of the 250's), and I could have gotten away with a single re-fuel in Amberley (either on the way up or down). I was conservative and did so both ways though - the servo's in Amberley are open late, so it's all good.

Was a good turn-out, had I think either 29 or 30 bikes all-up at BK Moorhouse.

Y0ur tank i5 a h0ney :second:

I was gushing over mine by the time we got home - what a beautiful night, warm, moonlit. Cruising is definately my style and it seemed like me and the B0nne could have gone on forever. Lots of entertainment at Greta Valley stop, survival stories of bikers and cell phones. The new owner of the pub came and said "hi" - isn't it lovely when they introduce themselves. He's looking forward to the rally coming up soon too. :Punk:

Left my camera on the bed at home, shame 'cos it was a lovely sunset too. Thanks for posting pics Ghost rider ~ how do you do that so quickly?!

I'm always a bit hesitant to join in on the rides, being so slow, but once I get there I'm fine. It's great that people wait and pull over to point out the way thank you. Even a volunteer crowd of pedestrians pointing out the Greta Valley turnoff - that impressed me. :niceone:

You gorgeous guys can certainly pull the girls. :chase: lol.

Ha ha, Digital, Digital makes things so quick uh.
OH! to remember the days of old, the film sitting in the camera for a few weeks, then waiting some time for it to be processed, and seemingly handing over so much money to see ya shots.
It was only last year that I relented to the fact digital was the way to go.

We had a nice run to Devauchelles. Bit breezy at times-that NE wing can be quite turbulent at times on the Akaroa GP circuit!! Perhaps it was just the wake off the R1s..........!

Yeah, a pretty nice ride last night. It was good to do something different!!

I was saying to a couple of guys that that Greta Valley road reminded me alot of the back country roads around the Wairarapa.

It's great to see such a big turnout and apparently some of the bike shops around town have been promoting these rides!!

Sorry about the confusion at the carpark. I'm no organiser.

I really need to remember my clear visor!! Cheers to Spuds and GB for the cruise back to Chch.

Managed to get home just before the curfew came tumbling down ;)

Yeah, I was wondering which gorgeous guys she was talking about. She was on the ride we were on wasn't she?...

You saying Im not good looking??

But seriously that was a great ride last night and I definatly think if we can get out of the carpark promptly we can easily do Leader Road. Just take the same route we did tonight, carry on a bit more up towards Hamner, turn off, and then stop again at the pub where we did tonight.

The bikes with the smaller tanks can fill up at Amberley or that small bowser in that little town on the way to hamner so tank size shouldnt be a problem.

Also I have a spare petrol can that I can put on my bike easily that will fill my tank pretty much so we can easily get around fuel problems that way to.

Thanks GPeoples for turning out like that.
Was really good to have a blast with you all.
Yes you could do the leader road, I do the round trip from here (gretta Valley)
to Waikari, (my warmup road you road last night) The north to the red post hang a right ,Zap through rotherham, waiau, then the leader road back to pasnasses, cheviot and home to gretta in just over an hour.
So allowing a hour from BK to amberley, thats 7.30, hour and half for the leader road to gretta make 9pm. hour for drinks 10pm
hour back to CHCH 11pm
Bed by 12pm!
sweet!
You lot could do that easy, even on a little 250!

Again thanks for a good night, good ride, wonderfull weather, awsome people!

Acutally I think he can. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but you dont have to have a licence to own/register a vehicle. You just not surpose to drive/ride it till you do :spanking:

?? Could be suffering memory loss, bit I'm pretty sure that I had the GN registered in my name about a week before I got my learners licence. In fact I learnt to ride on it (off road of course ) well enough to do the basic riding skills course ~ a friend had to pick it up from the shop for me though, as I wasn't allowed to ride it home.

Maybe it depends on who sells it.

I had to show my license when I transfered ownership to me for my bike. I understood that the previous owner couldn't transfer ownership since he had his license taken off him for doing 120 km/h racing on Moorhouse.
Sparrow1982 apparently had some trouble getting him to transfer the ownership because of that.
But hey, noone ever said the NZ bureaucrazy was consistent - just dense.

To be quite frank - I think that's the way it should be... That you couldn't transfer ownership of a road registered vehicle you're not allowed to operate to your private person.
Besides, with no license there's no way you could get insurance either... pretty irresponsible.

And you could get your L tomorrow - it's a bloody scratch test if you have your BHS sorted. The BHS is quite quickly handled as well.

You need a Motorbike License to get insurance for your bike.

You can buy one if you pay cash or have a loan that is not attached to the bike.(because they will want you to have insurance on it for the loan)
But of course, with out any insurance on it.

Gotta agree with that. As well as the road to Diamond Harbour, I always have fun riding them. Thing is, some of the guys here have ridden those routes every other week and want a bit of variety. Me, I'd be happy riding those routes anyway, but yeah, others want the variety.

Devient... if your number is up it is up. Whether it be by car/bike/cycle/walking/accident/illness... ANYTHING!
yagads man. I pushbike to work everday and have just as much chance of dying by that than by Mbike, with the fkn idiots who think I'm invisible and cut me off all the time. I'd rather be on a Mbike, at least i can stay with the flow of traffic and not be completely ignored.

At least on a bike I FEEL like I am alive. Yes there are risks, LIVING is a risk, work hard to gain experience and minimise those risks. That post you quoted... yes it IS nasty, and YES it may happen... but remember in THAT particular case the riders were NOT blameless. Dont do the stupid shit and you will minimalise the risks.

If you live you life in fear of dying, you are not living anything.

IMHO the fact that you are thinking of those sorts of things probably lessens the chance that they'll happen. You'll ride more safely. If however the thought of bad things happening takes all enjoyment out of riding ....

Ryan, I've got one question for you:

Why do you ride a motorbike?

Me, I do it because I love it. When I'm on my bike I feel like I'm home and I am alive! If you feel this way, then any amount of stories about gruesome crashes or whatever shouldn't mean diddly squat.

Hang in there for a bit longer Ryan.. wait till after the rider training weekend.. (I hope you are still going to be there!!!) then re-evaluate where you are at my friend!! :wait: I can PROMISE you that after the weekend, you will have renewed faith in yourself & your ability on a bike :first: You will feel & be so much more 'in charge' of what happens to you, instead of feeling vulnerable to all the idiots out there!! :niceone: Your awareness of yourself, your bike & your surroundings will be greatly enhanced!! :Punk: It will make a HUGE difference!! :2thumbsup Don't give up babe.. you have too much to lose!

I'll be very honest why I didn't come tonight and a lot of the reason why I haven't been to a lot of them lately - reading posts like this (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=1419264#post1419264) (warning: graphic text) has made me think hard about whether or not I'll continue to ride.

HTFU Ryan! You know very well that you can give most people the learn on the corners and you certainly seemed to be enjoying yourself out there. You expressed a sense of achievement and joy at getting your full license...

I understand what concerns you are having from reading stuff like that. But it's a truth one has to face when riding bikes - death is both real and graphic and while we only are responsible for ourselves we can still be affected by the choice of others.

In that regard I just suggest you are very conscious about who you choose to ride with and how you choose to ride with them. If you got a loose unit in the group - just make sure they are well ahead of you and they won't be able to take you down...

You as an individual can make your riding as safe as you want to - without taking the fun away. You decide what safety margin you consider appropriate and stick to it. At the end of the day - the only thing that should keep you from riding is your gut feeling or if you stop enjoying it. But don't let fear do that - make sure it's reason and gut feeling!

Sounds like it was another good ride over the hill, got stuck at work :angry2:.. buggar it all. I'm like svboy ,like to be home in the daylight if poss, riding at night/darkness does nothing for me, rather like seeing the countryside go by. You just have to accept that riding bikes, your going to come off some time, thats life, but you can work to limit those chances. Some days when your in the groove your be fast and smooth, on the other days its best to ease off and not push the envelope if your not quite all there.Quite agree on the pushbike thing , rather be on the motorbike, people just don't seem to care about cyclists round town.

Good on you for being honest and having that insight. I have been watching a lot of the graphic videos that are posted here and it really does affect me. I'm still riding, but with a lot more caution and more slowly - which I guess isn't at all bad - however each time I focus on a bin that someone else has made, I lose a little confidence.

Lately I've decided that I'm not going to fill my head with that stuff, because I want my thinking to be clear and back in the space when I was free to enjoy the technical/physical/emotional and spiritual side of biking. I LOVE my bike! I have found a new freedom, and a reason to stop zoning out and get into the focus of life - when I ride I feel like all my senses are alive.

And, each ride I come home from a ride I reinforce my belief about the safety of riding. It's in my nature to be mistrustful, and to look at negatives, but there are bikers here that have been riding since I was in nappies and they are still around. It can't be all bad.

Take it easy, listen to your instincts, and read some good material, like this thread on the age you started biking (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=64047).

See you on the road ~

It isn't only due to that thread and that post, and the phantom of something happening, that is keeping me away. There are a number of reasons really: I don't like the speeds the group rides get to. They were made to be cruisy, but I've never been on one that has been. I don't do less than 100km/h on the open road, usually up to 110 when on these rides, but I'm constantly overtaken on the straights and then irritated in the corners. Okay, I know my bike's a piece of shit, but I just can't afford a new one. Believe me, I really want one, I've had the NZ forever and it's just not enough any more.

That's part of the reason, riding the NZ is frustrating. Having no money frustrates the shit out of me. Having no job, likewise (and yes I'm bloody trying). In fact, there is so much shit in my life that frustrates me at the moment I've lost count of it all. To be honest, I think about coming along to the ride and half the time I simply can't be fucked. I don't look forward to it, it frustrates me too much. Most people do 80km/h through town. I hate that. As well as other stuff.

The phantom of a serious accident isn't as much of a phantom as you might think, the way that some people ride. It won't matter how conservatively or safely I ride, there's always the chance of some braindead moron cager/campervanner/whateverthefucker coming the other way straddling the centreline, or pulling out in front of you, or whatever. Fair chance someone will take you out. But even if they don't, you only have to fuck up once yourself for it to be final.

Sorry about the bullshit post, not much going right here lately. Hopefully I'll spot you down there one night.

I'm sorry ryan but this post is a load of crap. You can not blame it on the ride going to fast. You know perfectly well that I do NOT ride fast. I ride towards the back and will let others pass when I can. Yes we have some guys that like speed, and have the bike/skills to do so but there is a huge group of us that stick to the speed limits and take our time. Agreed FL. There are slower and faster people on the ride, always will be, nothing you can do about it. AND there will always be people crashing, it is in the nature of riding or driving or just being on the road.
It is not that difficult to hang with the slower ones, but it seems a whole lot harder if the testosterone is flowing, which is always seems to do with the blokes... cant blame others for that!
I'm 40 now, been riding for about 15 years, hope to ride till I cant get on a bike. BUT I'm not going to curl up in a ball and hide myself away simply on the possibility that I might crash. Dont forget Ryan that 100s of people have minor offs all the time, with mostly bruises or a few broken bones to show for it. All we hear about is the really bad stuff expecially on KB.
I have crashed at the track, so I have an inkling of what it could be like. For the amount of KMs I do, i guess I have been both careful and lucky, and will simply carry on respecting the road, its users and its potential risks. thats all we can do.

Last time I road behind you you left me behind so you can be just as fast when you want.
Sure, I left you behind, but was that in a built up area? Where the speed limit was 50km/h? No, it wasn't. It was going around the bays where the speed limit is 80km/h. Just because I left you behind, does not mean I was speeding or going fast. I know my way around that road, and I wasn't speeding.

Part of the reason I don't especially enjoy riding right at the back is that while I really don't like to exceed the speed limit (especially on pointless straights), I like to have a bit of fun on the corners, which means riding with some of the faster guys, or I have to pootle. But then, as soon as a straight comes up, it's "zoooom, zoooom, zooozoooom" as they all pass me. So I can either be towards the front and frustrated by the passing, or I can be towards the back, still get passed (and you know it happens), and be frustrated on the twisty bits. It's a bit of a no-win.

Hope the rest of your life gets sorted, but on this issue HTFU.
HTFU has nothing to do with it. Telling someone who has genuine concerns about an accident happening (I'm talking about anyone in the group crashing) to HTFU sounds incredibly short sighted and callous - why would you choose to ride with someone who thinks like that? You wouldn't. If you don't have anything nice to say, there is still no need to resort to the Kiwi Way™, and basically say "nothing to do with me, not my problem, his issue, HTFU.". You got to admit, it sounds cold rather than caring.
Edit: If you're more saying 'HTFU' to the speed/passing issue, and where to ride in the group, then refer to the above.

You can actually be supportive and encouraging rather than resorting to 'HTFU'. I'm not one of the plebs you see at your work (even tho I'm unemployed :pinch:) :(

if you dont trust yourself, DONT ride.
Happily, that isn't really an issue for me. You know I trust myself and my riding just fine. But you also know that a lot of accidents happen (and plenty have been posted) where it's almost totally out of your control. If some tard pulls out in front of you / cuts you off / plain doesn't see you / t-bones you / whatever in the wrong situation, it can be curtains.

I agree with you mate. I've been a bit frustrated with this as well. Personally I don't enjoy going at license loosing speeds on the public road - least of all on the boring flat and straight bits.

And it sucks getting passed by a squid who 2 corners late is going to be holding you back. It just does!

And yes, there's nothing cruisy about zooming out the straights at 170+ km/h (and it happens!). At the end of the day everyone rides their own ride and I'm afraid nothing can (or should for that matter) be done about that.

Regarding HTFU - my message was just that you shouldn't let anxiety inspired by graphic posts and video keep you from riding. However, you should be picky about who and where you choose to go riding. HTFU does indeed not make limbs grow back or resurrect fallen mates!

HTFU is in reference to having a slow bike, and making it an excuse for not coming on these rides. Thats the real issue with the ride you have isnt it. You went on a ride, a ride that happened to be in bad enough weather that most of us choose not to go on except for some of the faster guys and ureself, got left behind and now feel hard done by. Also because you have your full and cant afford/find/get the bike you want. Well tough. I distinctly remember talking to you about that once and you stating that you dont really mind riding the NZ even if you had your full. But that seems not to be the case.
I dont blame you for wanting a bigger bike, hell I think almost all the ones that come out on 250's cant wait to get a bigger bike, but I know that I will be riding to keep my skill up untill I get my next bike, not sulking cos I cant have it now.
As for you feeling that everyone is out to get you, thats something that only you can make a decision about, and if ridings not for you then thats it, something we all have to face/decide on at some point.

At the time, I meant it. Test riding bigger bikes has changed all that in a big way. Besides, I had the money at the time, and didn't exactly plan to be unemployed. If I wasn't (and if the car didn't need fixing too, damn it), I'd be buying another bike pretty soon.

Hmm, been there. I wound up doing laboring jobs for 2 years after spending 5 and a bit years at Uni cos my industry was in fire-mode :|. Sucks, but you WILL get a job eventually - I did (after 2 years of applying for jobs every week - I lost count after 100-something applications...). If your industry's doing the same thing, think about getting a fill-in job somewhere else? Even laboring etc, at least it pays the bills - and you get a bit of social interaction during the day. Which TBH, is one of the biggest problems with not having a job ;o.

Everything working out the way it should do, I should have a brand new clutch in the bike by Wednesday, the bike will have had a tune up and service, and the front tyre will have been replaced on Wednesday arvo before the ride.

Man I cant wait to get out there and just go for a blast on a bike where the clutch doesnt suck.

Yip, Im definatly looking forward to going on the ride, thats for sure.

Dave is still without wheels. I think (and dont quote me on this but) he flies up to Hamilton on Tuesday for some court date to do with the RS250. So hopefully he will get plenty of cash from that and obviously be back on 2 wheels sometime in the next month.

Yeah could be an issue given that in the US so many other models were called Katana, there must be someone making a part for it.

At the time, I meant it. Test riding bigger bikes has changed all that in a big way. Besides, I had the money at the time, and didn't exactly plan to be unemployed. If I wasn't (and if the car didn't need fixing too, damn it), I'd be buying another bike pretty soon.

Yeah they get pretty dam tempting don't they, I am going to stay out of the discussion except to say be really sure if you hang up the helmet, been there done it, knew for years I was missing something.

I am sure the rest will work itself out, just don't stress out too much, in the end it wont do you any good at all (but you know that).

There are a few reasonable larger bikes out there for less than 2k if you are willing to get your hands dirty now and then and put up with not having the flashiest machine on the block, look at my thing for example, and how much will the NZ get you back?

Spuds1234

Na the Napoleon mirror is a generic mirror that fits the bike really well. Better than the original ones IMO.

My Dad has them on his Laverda. I used to have them on my Kat until I broke them

I have a right hand one. The left is now proving difficult. Its not helped by the fact that Budget Motorcycle Spares are the only place I seem to be able to get them from and they couldnt produce good service to save their lives.

Ahh well. I'm a patient guy. I can wait.

Odd they have in my experience very good at getting items, like anywhere you do need to check in with them occasionally if you have a part on order but in most cases they are pretty good.

Mate I know it seems like extra work, but if you get it all done at once then you wont be kicking yourself say dam I wished I had painted the frame, not sure I would go so far as to paint the motor though.

Indeed Chris! But that is all going to change on the 8th when the mainland people will teach you to knee-down at levels. Provided you don't crash your bike at the "Have a go day" this weekend ;)

Hope you guys have a good day out there. Might pop by and have a look. Doubt I'll go out there to take my bike on the track though.

Yeah Craig, I'm the 2nd coming of christ - the true motorcycling god  (and slightly pissed, I blame ethanol). At least the 250 isn't going to flip out and bite my head off because of a bit of hail... or I was just too inexperienced at that time to appreciate what danger I was in. Truth be told - to this day I still don't know how bad it actually was since I haven't had the opportunity to ride in hail again.

However, emperical evidence show I didn't go too fast for the conditions. And I certainly didn't make any hazardous overtakes or break the speed limit for that matter.

Spuds1234

May or may not be there. I havnt yet decide yet due to recent developments.

Bikes costings two tenths of fuck all to get a decent service so that is good except for the the clutch that Sportzone sold me. It fitted fine except for the fibres.

So I may not turn up depending on how I feel and whether or not Im working. Im unfortunatly having to pick up a whole lot of extra shifts to afford the clutch plus my other bills.

So if you happen to want McD's and your at Northlands Mall, and I know you from the Wednesday night rides then you could be in luck for a good discount, but dont hold your breath as the manager could be breathing over my neck.

But definatly make sure you say Hi as I could make it worth your while.

There were about 8 bikers there at BK when I walked up (yea you read that right. I walked). Just as I arrived at 6:20 the weather packed in and everyone pretty much decided that that was it for the night.

So I headed back to KG Motorcycles to pick up the Kat.

Turns out the engine is going to cost me (conservative estimate here) another thou.

The bike has been giving a very clean bill of health for everything except for 2nd gear which is pretty much ruined (previous owner not me -I dont pull wheelies on the bike).

The thing runs so much better now though its not funny. The difference is amazing. Pity I cant afford petrol.

Kevin also suggested I look at getting the bearing shells replaced aswell while the engine is out of the frame and apart getting 2nd gear replaced as the bike is right up there in Km's. This is probably wise as I had a big end bearing go on my 250 and it was very messy.

Ahh well... Atleast I have 4 gears that work really well now. Just have to take it easy for a while in 2nd until I get some more moola.

The bikes still plenty quick for me when I skip second gear (this wont do any damage I presume. Or will it?)

So Im pretty happy with things at the moment.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you get enough speed up in first to prevent strain on the engine in the bottom of 3rd. But there's probably some techno-buff answer as to why it is bad:second:

Agree with you D, there is no need for anyone to bin, We all know how good it is to run with the pack,
But you got to walk before you can run.
If you fall off once then you are doing something wrong. Dont try to go as fast again till either you are shown what you did wrong, or work out yourself what you did wrong.
sellywin
It sounds to me like you need to find an empty car park, set up some cones and do a few hours practice at a safe speed.
If thats your third ? bin, then you are going way to fast for your experiance.
Slow down and look at what you are doing, feel your bike, listen to your bike, and throw your EGO out the door.
No shame in being slow....you stay in one piece and alive that way.
It can take years to learn how to go fast, after 30years Im still learning how to go fast, and still cannot keep pace with others on smaller bikes.
But thats good, I still have all ten fingers, ten toes, two useable arms and legs, and no scratches on my head.
Remember the journey is more inportant than the time taken to get there.
Glade that you didnt injure yourself, but what about next time

most of us when were at the same point in our journey in motorcycling didn't have older riders wanting to point us in the right direction or showing concern towards helping us, we either learnt the hard way or were just lucky enough to move through that period unscathed.

Came across that lot last Sunday morning/afternoon on a quick strop over to Akaroa and back. On the way back a southerly change had hit the Akaroa harbour and it was howling through. Negotiating that section of new seal was a bit scary with the strong wind doing its level best to upset us! We got through it alright though.

I know what you mean! The headlight on the NZ is pretty good, but not when it comes to seeing where you want to go in a corner! It pretty much has to be on high beam for me to have any clue where I'm going in the non street lit areas, can cause a few nervous moments. None last night, happily, all went fine. Welcome, yes every Wednesday between 6 and 6:30 at BK in Moorhouse ave, you will find different riders each week as some folks can not come to all of the rides, and there is no obligation to, there are a few learners and plenty of folks who will give you a hand.

Most important thing to remember is you do not have to try keeping up with the front riders.

Well that was a nice first ride, pity I slid off on a corner :argh:

It sounds to me like you need to find an empty car park, set up some cones and do a few hours practice at a safe speed.
If thats your third ? bin, then you are going way to fast for your experiance.

I know exactly where i went wrong, and 1st time off my bike. Put it down to inexperience at open road night driving. I approached a corner too fast, cos couldn't see round it well enough and just went off. I don't think cones around a carpark is gonna help. Next time I just gotta learn to be a bit more cautious and slow down.

A carpark with cones (along with fun & friendly professional instruction..:first: ) will make the world of difference.. :2thumbsup shall I put your name on the list... (see thread below..)

Has anyone else heard anything about a fire on Dyers pass or somewhere round there?

http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/latest/200803191154/11bcf4be

Five helicopters and several rural fire pumps are being used to battle a large scrub fire on Christchurch's Port Hills.

The fire is burning about 50 hectares of pine plantation undergrowth. The blaze is in a rural area well away from the city limits, with no houses in the area.

Helicopters are being used as the area is too difficult for ground crews to get to.

The Summit Road is closed from the Sign of the Kiwi on Dyers Pass Road.

New Zealand Police Alert 1:00am 18 Mar 2008 Canterbury

Location of incident: Christchurch

Incident type: Suspicious Fire

Media Release: Port Hills Fire
Today Police have been working with the Fire Service trying to ascertain the cause of the fire which began last night.
Just off the road there has been found a Nissan Primera car and it would seem that this vehicle was at the heart of where the fire has started.
The car was reported stolen from the Wigram area after 10 pm last night.
'We would be very interested in any sightings of a silver or grey Nissan Primera car on the summit road after 10pm.' said Detective Senior Sergeant John Rae of the Southern CIB.
'There was likely to have been another vehicle with the Primera,' he said, 'which would have taken the people responsible for dumping the car there away from the area. If anyone can provide any information as to the actions of the person(s) in the Primera and an associated vehicle we would be pleased to hear.'
CIB staff can be contacted at the Hornby Police station on 344 1800.

Folks this is not aimed at anyone in particular but to the group of naysayers that seem to have developed negative attitudes to the Wed night cruisy rides.

Piss off. simple and sweet or put up come along, and sit at the back, offer the help and assistance you keep claiming too, instead of riding up the front with the fast group then "witnessing stupid and dangerous actions" and posting the ride is a complete waste of time.

If you have seen these actions fine talk to the rider but don't get bent out of shape when they ignore you cause you went ranting and raving, or berated them here in the forum rather than had a quite chat over an ale or lemonade.

If you really want to help do so, simple things per ride help more than a heap of information blasted out, any of the newer riders out there can tell you what worries them and what they want to learn if you ask them.

"group" Wanta expand on ya post a little? from what I can tell over the last few rides alls been well helped Id say by the ride splitting in 2 directions allowing rider ability's to be kept in a similar pack.

Not really a need to expand on it D, this post comes from my annoyance at comments made in this and other threads knocking the ride, and its ability to help newer riders.

I have gotten sick of hearing negative comments, even to the point having mentioned the ride to bikers I have spoken to, who are not on here (well they said they weren't but who can be sure) and yet seem to know all the negative comments from a mate who has been on maybe one ride.

And yes you are right splitting the ride into two has helped but is not really that different from how it has been since day one with the faster riders going at their pace, but those are the guys who, (although some might say otherwise) do not need the help, which is where all the comments about how I had an off or close call are coming from, not those at the back strangely.

Basicly if those who want to comment about the effectiveness of this ride to help the newer riders out were, instead of running down incidents at the front where the pace is high (and perhaps the testosterone) sitting at the back giving guidance, being prepared to travel at slower speeds, then all the new guys would be getting this great advice some seem to claim ownership of but are unwilling to share.

These are my 10 cents worth (inflation from 2c), I would love to see those who need and want assistance getting heaps of help from those with the knowledge and skills, shit I don't claim to know everything about riding a bike but what I know I share freely, and I am willing to listen and learn still.

I think its a great thing , to offer advice for the newer rider .
Its invaluable , I also think if there critisim from the higher paced riders ,or peoples that ride faster that have heard different from others on the rides !.

Well maybe they just dont need to go , i ride a bit faster myself , but if its a group ride i dont mine at all being "with the group".

And i wont be rushed to ride my bike by anyone else .
i hope theres more new riders that want to go riding in a group situation , as its great riding and they will pick up better riding tips .

This should also be encouraged by all other riders .

Thats my 10 cents
